A few years ago: stop shaming actors for getting cosmetic surgery. If it gives them confidence they should be allowed to have it judgment free.
Now: cosmetic surgery is preventing actors from emoting. All the women look the same and all the men look like they're melting. It breaks immersion in many cases. It's out of control!

I'm catching up on the Hunger Games now and have been liking it. Not in a happy fun time way, obviously. I get why that was the YA dystopian series that blew up. It's bleak, but it gives you a lot to think about. I just started the last audiobook.

I read about 2 chapters of the first book because my grandma gifted it to me (because it was what was popular for girls my age at the time), decided it wasn't for me and moved on. I watched the films with my friend many years later and... I guess I'm one of those annoying ironic "fans"? The movies are not good, but I had fun laughing at them. The pregnancy stuff in Breaking Dawn pt. 1 was disturbing, I enjoyed that one the least. And of course what happened with Jacob was a travesty. The baseball scene is the best scene and the soundtrack has some gems.

I agree with most of her points, however:
A) I've never heard of Twilight being a Harry Potter fic and that idea makes zero sense. I recall back during Twilight fever they released Wuthering Heights, Romeo & Juliet, and Pride & Prejudice with Twilight themed covers because Stephanie Meyer said those were some of her biggest inspirations (in general). I would assume the series is therefore a synthesized "fanfic" of those books, with some vampire lit thrown in, and not Harry Potter.
B) She comes down very negatively on "self-indulgent" writing. While I agree that OVERLY self-indulgent writing is bad, noticeable, and potentially damaging, self-indulgent writing as a concept is more neutral to me. I think a bit of self-indulgence, in some cases, can be the best choice narratively, neither diminishing the plot/characters nor preventing the writer from improvement.
C) Admittedly I found certain comments she made to be a bit pretentious. I'm easily annoyed by snooty "tastemaker" attitudes. This is not me saying her intent was to be demeaning, just acknowledging that I have a bias and some things she said activated it.

I do try to be sympathetic to parents at the theater, but can they PLEASE make sure the show/movie is age appropriate for their children? And I'm not even talking about sexual content, violence, or anything like that. If a child cannot follow what's happening narratively without help, because it's currently too sophisticated in concept, they shouldn't be in that theater. You cannot expect a child to have, or learn, good theater etiquette when they don't understand what's happening in front of them. They're going to get bored and be disruptive. They're going to ask you what's happening CONSTANTLY. Shushing them isn't going to help. They're going to kick the seats. They're going to do anything to not feel bored and it's not going to be fun for them or anyone sitting near them.

Doing theater can have many positive impacts, especially for people who feel outcasted, but in a weird way it can also give these people poor boundaries. Especially when it comes to things like changing clothes/states of dress, physical contact, and volume. They will take behaviors that are uniquely allowed in the theater setting to other parts of their life and assume everyone else will either be comfortable with that (because everyone doing theater is) or won't maliciously take advantage (if they haven't been in a toxic theater environment yet). They get myopic about it and don't make a good distinction between the controlled theater setting and the more variable, wider world.

When you love/care about someone who's in the transcult, and you are not a cultist yourself, I think there's a certain point where you start to be willfully ignorant of certain things about them as a way of protecting your psyche. You can only handle so much pain, confusion, betrayal, disappointment, disgust, etc. So you just... avoid exposure to those things. You get them piecemeal, when you are absolutely forced to, and hopefully your mental fortitude is good in those moments. It's a dumpster fire when your fortitude is low. The rest you ignore because you have to, or you'll be trapped in a very bad psychological place.

The rollback of DEI initiatives could be PART of the cause, but the cancelation hammer in the age of streaming has been merciless to everyone. A show is extremely lucky if it survives past two seasons. A common complaint among viewers is that their favorite show was canceled on a cliffhanger. Since there was an influx of LGBtqwerty characters and stories, more of those will be on the chopping block than ever before.
But also, execs care about money, often to the exclusion of all else. If any topic, genre, or medium seems like it will make less money, they will drop it like a hot potato. "Kweerness" is no exception, and I don't see why anyone expected it to be.

And then you have the other problem where the brand name becomes too tied to the object. TV shows and knockoffs have to use non-copyrighted terms, which can be confusing. I've watched so many baking shows where they clearly weren't allowed to say the name of a brand of cereal or candy, and the generic term sounded ridiculously bland.

Watching a wacky baking competition show and this one guy who has been on several others is on. I feel there's a contradiction in the way TRAs want us to worry and not worry about the TQ, but I'm not sure how to articulate it.
The idea is that they're a small minority and must be uplifted at all costs, but also that they're a small minority so their presence in single-sex spaces is negligible. So you're not allowed to ignore them, but also you should ignore them.
I dunno, maybe someone else can make better sense of this thought I had.

My aunt is in a similar situation to yours. The creator didn’t cover this vector of the loneliness issue because he's specifically looking at the average gen-Z person, like himself.
I have antisocial behaviors, but rudeness and being inconsiderate infuriate me, which is pro-social.
The creator was very forgiving towards social foibles, even admitting his own. That's more of what the video was about: recognizing what gen-Z may be doing that prevents them from having the relationships they want.
Identifying anti and pro-social behaviors can help people in many different situations, though. And both types of behavior can help or hinder us. The point is to not give up on having good relationships.
