Spammers run rampant against the archive, trying their best to post advertisements and tricky links outward to sketchy sites. They've been doing it for years, and there's mitigations I and others work to keep it contained and miminal. Recently, someone is trying to break out of containment and is posting literally thousands of items a day.

It's not about rhyme or reason or being careful - there are doubles, the contents may be different than the labels, and of course many scanned labels seem weird or dirty - likely they've seen the floors of offices for years.
But they exist now. Someone can download them, curate them, find the value. I hope they have a joy doing it. For me - it's about moving on through the next few thousand.

Next on the digitization death march are 3.5" floppies. I've been sent thousands of them over the years. I'm going to just image and scan them and pack them for perm storage.

UMATIC (also known as 3/4" tape) is a professional format from the 1970s and 1980s. The tapes often need to be baked to get them back to functional. I've been doing thousands of these tapes and it wears down the machinery, needing repair. But the results are striking.

because 1. This is the backlog since the services were cut off from the network to do a security sweep and 2. There have been review spammers and I've been running custom scripts to deal with it while we fixed up solutions but I'm not able to do so currently.

The 86box emulator is mature enough that I hope someone steps in to consider making a WASM compile of it. If we can get that running, a whole host of Windows and other operating systems come to the Internet Archive's emulation system.
