Our house has gone mute.
Hubs busying himself with some things on the to-do list.
All our retirement plans just flew out of the window. Time to re-evaluate how we spend our hard earned "golden years"

We are finally home in #Delaware.
Movers had delays, so they were unloading & assembling until 10pm. We're pooped.
Fortunately we kept the hotel room through today.
Unpacking will take a long time, even though we got a lot done yesterday. Too much stuff.
Thankful for ibuprofen.

#FridayThe13th Mover called, upset. He said the broke something while rearranging the storage unit. Boxes fell, knocked over a mangle I bought in Metz. It broke. I should be upset, but I am just so impressed that they somehow broke a cast iron mangle. I might not have had room for it in the new house, anyway. Hubs hates it bc it's heavy. Mover was relieved. Xmas photo was what it did look like.
Fully broke the handle.
Yes, it is odd that I collect irons.

We found Nemo. So cute.
But a Dory would be better.
Son said if we install a Dory, he would rig it so when the mouth was opened, you'd hear Dory's voice speaking "whale" saying "thank you".
I bet our new HOA doesn't see us coming!

When we lived in Italy, neighbors referred to us as "the Americans". We have since used that to remind each other that we're "not from around here" wherever we move.
We anticipate our new neighbors calling us "the Floridians", since it will be obvious by our colorful clothes.
So I tried to find an alligator for the front garden. Our mascot, as it were. I'll probably settle for a cheap plastic version, since the concrete ones are pricier than my budget.

Setting up insurance for the new house.
Our current FL homeowners insurance is $18k a year. House and stuff, essentially. Does not include flood insurance.
We have discounts that bring that down to $8k for the coming year. (Which is $1k increase over last year).
We are moving to a blue state, (from a 5/3 to a 3/2) and full comparable coverage will cost us $819. FOR THE YEAR.
We could not afford to stay in FL as retirees.
Car insurance costs after lunch.

Our #Roadtrip is over. It is such a joy to sleep in your own bed. Your own pillows.
We left Delaware, Norfolk, Charleston and Daytona in sunshine, but just ahead of storms this week. We had very good timing.
Now we need to sell our house. So the To-Do list is quote long. Busy days ahead!

#marshmadness Very cooperative wildlife today at #GreenCay Red Shouldered hawk hunting near the nest. Their two chicks peeking out of the nest. Coots, Little Blue Herons, Green Herons, Redwing Blackbirds, Grebes, Blue Wing Teals. Saw a Purple Galinule for the first time in a while there. We usually only see Common Galinules and Swamphens. A black snake and a Florida Banded Watersnake. A large soft shell turtle and I think a red bellied turtle.

Much needed #Wetlands walk this morning.

Also there were Florida Banded Watersnakes everywhere. Must be hatching or mating season.
Dad's in hospital again. Congestive heart failure, which seems under control at present.
Nature walks help our stress levels.
