The Pi coding agent shows you all the sausage being made (reasoning/thinking blocks) that Claude Code hides from you. The same sort of basic, repeated mistake -> recovery loops are constant noise and show how fragile the whole thing is. It gets trivial syntax wrong and has to correct it, hallucinates library imports, etc. It's disturbing.

Massive package manager supply chain attacks are weekly occurrences now. Take a few minutes and secure your package manager json/lock files with package age requirements or version pinning. Yes, it's a pain in the butt. But, if you don't, you *will* get popped. It's *going* to happen.
If you are a vibe coder, research this and figure out how to prompt your agent to be secure in this way.

It was the phone number in the description that triggered it. Once I get the new model trained it should get much better at this since there will be equal weighting of good examples with phone# and bad examples. This one is going into the "good" training data set. Right now it's skewed too heavily toward bad examples.

If that is accurate, I don't see how this doesn't cause chaos for both hosting companies (a whole new API state machine alongside the feed) and podcasters (who won't understand the hole they've put themselves in).

So, if you distribute the video from your podcast to Spotify with their new system, your podcast on Spotify is now severed from your RSS feed and has to be managed exclusively from the hosting platform <-> Spotify back-end connection going forward. You're basically stuck. You move your podcast to a new hosting company and your show on Spotify is now stuck in a limbo state.

@nprofile…w0mx @nprofile…cyex I'm still not sure how to handle it fully. This is a real problem that needs solving and I won't claim to know how to navigate it. But, doing nothing isn't an option anymore because we are getting flooded. The combination of low DAI thresholds, free hosting and AI has created a perverse incentive to just flood as much content into the Index as possible, as fast as possible. That's all I care about.

It's not censorship. It's self-defense. I got a disk space warning on our database server (which is already expensive) late last week which is what set me in motion on this. I was prepared to let the AI sloppers and everyone else do whatever they want. It takes about 3 seconds to find phishing scams and all sorts of malicious content in the Index. But, they are actually costing us real money now by just pumping out feed content at an incredible rate.

I'm focusing on the newly added stream of feeds instead of the whole Index in order to see patterns and get a handle on what is actually getting added, which is something I've never cared much about.

@nprofile…dffe Hope this puts the tools in the hands of everyone to make those decisions. I'm seeing the same spam/seo feeds popping up on multiples hosts (ausha, spreaker, podbean, etc). If Ausha can see an abuse happening on Buzzsprout, that gives them a heads up to put the blocks in place too. I think the visibility helps everybody.

The 24 hour feed report is now carrying the extra information as well. It's basing it's determination on the LLM analysis if available instead of just keyword heuristics.

Podping gossip is hitting an issue where the writer can sometimes get isolated into a part of the hyparview tree where all of its peers will not forward. I’m not sure if @nprofile…zjzz has a mechanism for recovering from this or not. Trying to think of a workaround.

1. Yes, what you describe should work but I've had someone else tell me recently that it didn't for them so I'll have to go troubleshoot that. [sigh]
2. While it *does* work, it's not immediate. That just puts it in the queue for eventual polling. I *think* what Martin wants is to be able to do an immediate insert. I also need this for another thing I'm doing.

@nprofile…peg3 I think it’s the DHT tracker. I may just have to remove that part for now and just go back to a bootstrap node list. It’s making the debug process more cumbersome than it should be. I think the actor within that crate is stalling out. The whole process hangs so that SIGINT is ineffective.

There are 5,227,748 episodes with transcripts in the Index. Many have multiple formats (txt,html,json,srt,vtt) so that the total row count in the transcripts table is 7,407,415.

And, if you feel like donating some disk space to the cause, also set ARCHIVE_ENABLED=true to turn your gossip-listener into an archive node to serve catchup requests to other nodes.
Archiving is a thing we can do a lot with, including @nprofile…cyex 's work on podping over AT protocol. But, this gets a rudimentary mechanism in place for the mechanics of 'catch up' to be fleshed out.

If you are a podping gossip tester, set a friendly name on your node with:
NODE_FRIENDLY_NAME="my awesome node"
...as an env variable when launching the listener. It makes choosing which nodes to add to your trust list easier. Think of it like a dns host name for the gossip swarm.
