Yep, that's the whole thing - if you're already wealthy then "x policy set will be good for the economy and make us all richer" does not mean "x policy set will be good for *me* and make me richer"
If you're a roughly average amount of wealthy then yes the choice is obvious, you want the policies that pull up the average

That is my idea too, but it's definitely not a clear choice to everyone and it's not as though the competing opinions are meritless (even if they are distasteful). For whales, current position plays a big role, as well as timescale: your goals on different scales might lead you in opposite directions. Especially if you have a lot of money in the energy sector
But really I think they're not as "undecided" as they claim to be and they're using uncertainty to fish for concessions

The answer is: they're multimillionaires and billionaires
People for whom the choice of president only matters in terms of how much their personal net worth will change (and for whom personal net worth is their only political priority)
The reason they're undecided is they're still unsure which candidate will increase their wealth more, and that's the only metric that will impact their daily lives
The reason the establishment cares and caters towards these sociopaths is they are the donors

It's pretty obvious who's claiming to be "undecided" every election and why they matter so much to campaigns and pundits
I mean think about it: what's the one difference between the candidates that is still arguably unclear and that some people might be prioritizing over everything else, including human rights and national security
If you can answer that question, you know exactly who's still "undecided" (and you know they're completely toxic)
