At long last…
Plebs vs. Zombies v0.8 is now testing NIP-46 remote signing! 💥
This has been a long journey to get working. There are still some limitations you should be aware of. If you have a massive follow list, over 900 follows, there's no guarantee the app will be able to sign events for you. This is a protocol limitation: NIP-44 encryption has a hard limit of 64KB, and there's no way around that. If you have a shit ton of zombies to purge, you’ll need to use a browser extension or sign in with your private key instead (which we now also offer as a last resort, stored locally in your browser and never shared).
The good news is, even when signed in with a remote signer, you can still back up your follows. We now handle compression and chunking to store them on your relays for you. You just won’t be able to purge follows directly through the remote signer if your follow list is too large.

We identified the issue as being related to the nostr.band relay, which seems to have succumbed to the zombie apocalypse. We've removed this relay from our defaults and optimized the relay set further to prevent unresolved user profiles from appearing.

@nprofile…ruf5, you are following over1500 users, which is rather high for Nostr. Some relays won’t even accept your follow list updates because of the size.
#PlebsVsZombies processes all the data in your browser, so it does take some time to complete. Just open a tab and let it run for longer and you’ll see how many dormant zombie accounts you have.
By default we break them down into 4 categories:
Fresh Zombies: 90 days inactive
Rotting Zombies: 180 days inactive
Ancient Zombies: 365 days inactive
Burnes Zombies: marked deleted

Thanks, @npub1tmd…flxu. After reviewing the backup files you submitted we noticed some patterns that—if not intentional cheating—suggest a fundamental misunderstanding of how the Top Zombie Challenge works.
The data showed follow counts increasing dramatically between purges (instead of decreasing), which doesn't align with how zombie hunting is meant to work. Since we can't determine the original intent, we're disqualifying this entry from prize eligibility.
No hard feelings, but we have to keep the competition fair for all participants and invalidate any suspicious entries. 🧠🔍

Not sure I understand what you said, but if you’re adding as many zombie follows as possible just to nuke them, you’re welcome to do so, but it doesn’t really do anything and those submissions can’t be entered into the Top Zombie Challenge as it would be unfair to other participants. This competition is for users to purge existing follows, that’s the only real way it can work.

With one week left in the October Top Zombie Challenge, we want to remind all participants about our zero tolerance policy for cheating.
🚫 Prohibited Activities:
- Artificially inflating follow counts between purges
- Mass-following accounts solely to boost kill counts
- Using bots or automated tools to manipulate scores
- Any other attempts to game the system
🔍 We Are Monitoring:
All competition entries are monitored for suspicious patterns including unusual follow count spikes, inconsistent zombie percentages, and abnormally high kill counts.
📋 Verification Process:
Users suspected of cheating will be required to submit all backup files for analysis. Failure to cooperate results in automatic disqualification.
🏆 Our Goal:
This competition celebrates plebs who are genuinely cleaning up the Nostr ecosystem and fighting bandwidth bloat - not those trying to game the system.

@nprofile…t6c9 Your previous zombie score was 7%. It would not be possible for you to achieve this level of zombie destruction without having added a large number of inactive npubs to your follow list and then running the purge again.
To avoid disqualification, you will need to share your follow list backups so we can determine whether or not you have attempted to falsify your follow count in order to win the competition.
