@nprofile…pdgt I was very lucky not to get caught in the Satanic Panic. My father bought my D&D boxes for me (along with other great games like Mechwarrior and Robotech).

I'm noticing that recently, my feed is full of boosts, not original posts. I know I boost a lot, but...
Come on, people. I'm here for you, not your extended networks. More original posts, fewer boosts please?

@nprofile…msez Okay, I lied... I just blocked one. I'm done with it.

I saw a #Western #TTRPG using the #Traveller system, and the author kept the hexadecimal notation for the profiles. I saw that as a missed opportunity. The stats should run from 2 to 10 (A), then Jack (11/B), Queen (12/C), King (13/D), Ace (14)/E and Joker (15/F). I suppose 1 could be included, but when was the last time you saw a "1" stat in Traveller?

You know what I want to see? We have plenty of "how to install #Linux" tutorials and guides. What we need is more "how to USE #Linux as a Windows veteran" guides. Because there are enough differences to stymie people who aren't technically-minded.

@nprofile…zvch Having tried it, I can *not* recommend elementary OS. I, a long-time Windows user, could not get it to do everything I wanted it to do out of the box. Installing packages was opaque and confusing. It lacks control over the desktop elements. The "Applications" button is a very poor replacement for a Start menu. Overall, it needs a *lot* of work and is *not* "easy". Mint is much better, but I'm curious about Zorin.

If we're going to decide, as a community, that nobody should use gen AI in their #TTRPG projects -- not even poor creators who would never be able to afford a real artist's work -- then we need to normalize no-art projects and editions. Far too often, projects get dinged for having either poorly-self-drawn illustrations or no art at all; if we're going to cut one possible source, we need to stop doing that.

I can't sleep.
I can't lie down because I have too much fluid weight on and I wake up every 45 minutes feeling like I can't breathe. I can't lie propped up because I seem to have developed coccydynia (look it up). I can't sleep sitting in a chair because... yeah. I can only sleep in the dialysis recliner, and today is an "off" day.
It's going to be a long day.

2025-07-14 04:46:42 UTC

#TTRPG community, can I ask a favor?
Can we please stop refering to the proto-4e "Star Wars Saga Edition" as "SAGA"? #SAGA, capitalized, was TSR's card-based system for Dragonlance and Marvel. Yes, it *does* cause confusion when you do that, for those of us old enough to have invested in SAGA. Please be considerate.
In the same vein, can we expand the differentiation between Star Wars and #SavageWorlds? Star Wars was "SW" for decades before Savage Worlds was a thing. "SWADE" is much better.

2025-07-14 00:27:18 UTC

I am so over the #ENnies (and awards competitions in general). I've seen people begging for votes; I've known people who rushed out products just "to have something to get into the ENnies". It's not about the worth of the candidates. It's a popularity contest. The whole concept is dated and ridiculous. Acknowledge superior products, sure; don't pit them against each other in a ludicrous contest.

2025-07-09 04:39:28 UTC

#TTRPG pet peeve: players declaring "I roll for/to..." or just rolling and declaring, "I got X on skill Y..." No, you didn't, because I didn't tell you that you needed to roll anything. Most especially prevalent in #DnD but it crops up elsewhere sometimes.

Okay, I can't hold this in any more. Let's talk about #DriveThruRPG and #RebelScum now.
Yes, DT delisted the game "for political reasons". No, the article that is going around does NOT tell the whole story to nonsubscribers. The ACTUAL FULL reason the game was delisted IS HIDDEN BY THE SUB WALL.
The game itself is NOT the problem. The problem is the foreword, in which the author SPECIFICALLY states he named the bad guys the "Republik" so he could "punch Republikans in the face"

@nprofile…mtwn Yeah, not a fan of enforced "rest" days. I especially hate Sundays. If you can find people who want to work later in the day, or on the weekend, why should I have to sit around with my thumb up my butt because your religion says your imaginary friend rested on that day or that everyone has to sleep the same hours? What if I really need something? What if *I* wouldn't mind or even want to work on Sunday or evenings?
Yeah, it's a sore spot with me here in the 21st century.

@nprofile…wp4d I absolutely divorce Netanyahu and his cronies from the people -- Jewish, Muslim and otherwise -- of Israel. There are Jewish Israelis who are racist, hateful and seeking the extermination of Palestinians, yes; no group is a monolith. But they are a disgusting minority amid a sea of innocent common people who, as I keep pointing out, will all suffer because of the government's evil. It's the same in Iran, and it's the same here in the US.

No. No it fucking doesn't. You were operating for decades without that bullshit. Now you're just profit-seeking. You, CBS, NBC, CNN, you're all just holding out your hands for an additional revenue stream because that's apparently how important news is these days.

@nprofile…cg8n I still feel like I don't understand what you're asking about. Your use of the word "live" in the question is unexpected and makes it difficult for me to quickly process what you mean.
