It was confirmed yesterday that the centre left coalition won the election in Sweden
As predicted, with the far right performing poorly, coverage has almost entirely vanished from international media

You may be relieved but spare a thought for so many editors in the mainstream media who were hoping to run hyping headlines about the far right winning in Sweden
As always when SD is hyped and ends up crashing, I expect Swedish politics will drop off the radar as it's no longer sexy enough

Reporting elections without turnout is not only inaccurate, it plays a key role in the mainstreaming of far right parties making them look far more popular than they really are...

We have had surveys that have shown us exactly this in the UK, France, the EU etc for many years
What we need to ask ourselves is why have journalists, politicians, academics etc chosen to focus on surveys that hype immigration

One of the reasons why people often prefer debating ("dining across the divide") with the far right than the left is that the former makes them feel good about themselves by comparison
Debates with/amongst the left bring up uncomfortable reflections about our participation in systems of oppression
