@nprofile…hw8x @nprofile…mv7s @nprofile…fne4 IME they were never particularly good at actually precisely targeting the ads. At best I'd get the same "demographic" targeting that TV would provide. Cars, fast food, movies etc
The only time I actually saw ads that genuinely interested me was from a service that delivered ads based on the content they existed alongside. For example ads for example a webcomic had ads for other webcomics. And that doesn't require any creepy profiling of viewers.

@nprofile…e656 This map makes me wonder if it'd be faster to go from Mt Dennis to Yorkdale than it would be to go from Union. I normally take GO into the city since its timing is more reliable than driving but it does limit my destinations to areas around downtown mostly.

@nprofile…cfuw fwiw I simplified things mostly because how/why someone is ace isn't relevant to the point I was trying to make. Bigots try to justify their hate out of paranoia of what LGBTQ people might do. The thin end of the wedge has always been about "protecting" some group from "predators." Or about "fairness" in sports.
There is no such excuse for bigotry against ace folks. Hopefully at least some folks will actually wake up to how nuts the bigots are because of that.

Last boost: I genuinely don't understand hating people for being ace. It's like hating someone for disliking candy. They're quite literally not doing anything.

I'll watch a car video or gaming video and at random half the recs are for political stuff mixing mainstream with weird extreme right wing slop. It's absurd how hard the big video sites are pushing that crap.
Speaking of car channels, have you watched Garbage Time? That's a fun (mostly) car channel. Lots of chaotic fixing and abusing of old and really old cars.

I remember getting a survey from a really crap govt rep which had a choice of answer "I want harsher sentences" or "I think crooks should have more rights than [citizens]"
I wished I could've sent a punch to the gut over mail in response to that dude. He's long since been voted out thankfully.

I would be less filled with irritation if Cypress didn't have that obnoxious bug where it fails to purge whatever garbage it's retaining in its dev environment when a test run is restarted.
That or if it handled OOM more gracefully but not hitting that OOM condition would be preferred.

@nprofile…8nar @nprofile…dqyq the problem becomes physics. Geostationary orbit which IIRC is where GPS lives is about 35000km away. That means any satellite internet using geostationary sats has a minimum lag of 233ms if my math is right
Not so bad for email or videos but problematic for things like zoom, gaming and such
EDIT it's in MEO not GEO so less lag but more than what starlink is offering

@npub1mc3…nkdg I miss Project Wonderful. Just simple static images generally related to the site that showed them. Only ad provider whose ads I actually clicked intentionally (was an ad for a webcomic I ended up enjoying at the time)
