That first auction didn't give a real picture of the interest here because the smart contracts were not accepting bids until the very last minute. I was luckily able to re-grab the elusive circus ninja, though it's currently trapped in the contract. I'm thinking of hosting a few more low-reserve auctions once Cashmint comes out of beta. There is maximum 2GB blocksize limit imposed by the current 32 bit architecture which limits tps to ~7,000 but an upgrade to 64 bit is currently in the works.

That's the thing... no one really knows how lightning works or what they're using. The wallet should just exist. No giving an email to a website that won't exist in 3 months, no downloading some janky plug-in. Most importantly once you receive the tip you are still locked into the lightning KYC machine if you ever want to spend it. Maybe you can earn enough to send it on chain and then spend it all on fees.
