Jupiter + 4 moons tonight our in our backyard 🔭
First time for my daughter viewing a planet through the 'scope too! It was pretty exciting.
Really stunning to see. Fairly clear to see the moons all aligned, too!
What surprised us was how "white" everything was, whereas in pictures you always think of Jupiter as being very brown/orange/red.

Thanks for that extra advice, I did look at Trocador after a few of you folks recommended it. I like how you get a choice of backend providers, but also the cheapest and fastest route was rated "C", so yeah, I get that it's a bit of a gamble as well.
I'll take another look at robosats and others when I have some more time!
I think if Thorchain came out with XMR support that'd be one of the easiest and quickest routes, however they do get a lot of criticism for being a funnel for criminal assets. Whenever platforms are exploited or rugged, it often goes via Thor. That may cause them some extra pain when implementing XMR as it would be a natural avenue for asset laundering on a larger scale.

So, I don't mind either path, I can get fiat into crypto without issue.
There's a few I've checked in the past, like bisq, but it just felt so awkward, spread and prices so poor, that I just didn't want to try it out. I feel that simpleswap is somewhat similar to this, but I haven't tried it either.
It's very interesting to know that thor might be supporting #XMR soon, that'd be ideal.
I'll definitely have to research haveno as it's been mentioned multiple times now. trocador as well.

Can anyone recommend some ways to swap/get #Monero #XMR these days? No KYC and decentralised would be great.
In truth I used to buy it on exchanges, many, many years ago. Binance and others have delisted since it. Have been spending it over the years and our stack is running low; I've been thinking about replenishing supply.
I've looked into a few ways, but they all seem so... awkward (BasicSwap, other atomic methods, seem highly convoluted). Cake Wallet offers a swap but takes a few percentage fees--seems fairly simple though. TradeOgre shut down or rugged... from what I read?
Interested to know what Monero advocates use these years.

GLM-5 was made available to Z.ai's pro coding plan subscribers today!
It's been an amazing upgrade so far to my workflow. Really is a leap ahead in agentic management. I've noted marked improvement in tool calling, planning and management.
It's now my main orchestrator, used to spawn other subagents to carry out tasks. It manages everything from GLM-4.7, 4.5, 4.5-flash models, to local ollama models like smollm2 and llama3.2.
Planning and executing complex tasks really feels a hell of a lot smoother with GLM-5 versus GLM-4.7 which I was previously using for this kind of work.

A few weeks ago, my precious bespoke designed and hand-built keyboard which my friend made for me around 10 years ago broke. 😿⌨
I'm now stuck on a conventional chiclet keyboard, I keep fucking making typos and spacebar doesn't work cause I don't slam it hard enough. Fucking disgusting.
I went a bit mental, because it literally cured many years of RPI/carpal tunnel syndrome. It sounds a bit stupid, but I cannot imagine my life without that keyboard. :meow_bongo_keyboard:
Doctors and specialists couldn't cure my RSI for years: they told me to stop using computers and keyboards: absolutely retarded comment to make to someone who's entire life was spent working on a computer.
A quality ergonomic keyboard and mouse cured what doctors said could not be fixed... lesson in there.
I designed this keyboard and selected every single component with the minimal force needed to reduce friction/wrist pressure/finger travel: from springs, to caps, to size, to physical form factor and split... including custom firmware based on open source... it is very much a reflection of myself and my friend who helped design and build it.
Thankfully I got in touch with my pal, and he was more than happy for me to ship it back to him for a full repair and we've designed some upgrades to retrofit it!
In a few weeks I will get it back, as a completely wireless device! I am beyond hyped. I will post an update with pics when it's back in its new wireless form!

Anything like that hitting the superfriends public relay, I report the account. faps (my custom coded strfry plugin) instantly processes my report and blacklists them.
Yeah I work in AI and I use AI tools. But I come here for the humanity. Not really a fan of all this botted behaviour on the #nostr feed.

Yes indeed, it can be a scary thing... although given it was an agentic social site, there is a bit of damage control built into it, as in theory it's only read by agents.
But I think the risk of prompt injections is just too much to connect your "production" agents things like this.
Maybe in time when proper guardrails are built. But it's all vibe-coded trash right now, way too risky IMHO.

- Cross-check my accounts and prepare my taxes.
- Troubleshoot system and development issues.
- Planning service migrations.
- Summary and analysis of data sets & long content.

It's kind of hilarious seeing content like this make the rounds. I am sure that this will be a hot topic this month.
I personally don't think a technically-minded person should have any difficulty setting up a secure openclaw/moltbot/clawdbot instance. If you aren't savvy with operational security concepts, you definitely should not be trying to host your own openclaw and connecting it to the wild.
A few tips from me:
- Set it up on an isolated server on a separate user account. There is no risk there of it running wild on personal files or data. All of this talk about running it on your home machine & account makes me throw up a little bile every time I read it. Absolutely imbecilic idea.
- Do not run it under your own user instance (which typically tends to be in the sudoers list)--please don't be fucking stupid folks. Use a dedicated account without access to your personal user account's data.
- There is no real need for you to expose any kind of access to it externally via your firewall. Use tailscale if needed and lock down your tailnet and the openclaw service (use serve, not funnel).
- Do you *really* need to give it full access to all these skills? For example, giving it write access to your Google Workspaces? Use your brain and don't blindly follow these half-baked "tutorials" you see permeating the internet right now--most of these are written by absolute morons who have no fucking clue what they're doing or the implications of it.
TL;DR: just use common sense. It can be a neat tool but there is no need to expose yourself

faps is getting more badass every day:
I just coded support into #strfry for management features from trusted accounts with varying security levels, and the first feature to use this is to auto-blacklist reported accounts from trusted plebs with enough access.

The beauty of the strfry plugin architecture is live updates: no need to restart strfry on any changes. It's allowed me to handle things like: illegal content, spam, abuse, DDoS attacks, and more. :YesYes:
... all within a single plugin. So far, it can:
- Blacklist accounts.
- Blacklist phrases: strings and regexes supported.
- Blacklist kinds: reject any kinds you want, useful during DDoS attacks.
- Supports minimum POW difficulty enforcement for all users.
- Supports unique POW difficulty for individual accounts. You can add individual accounts with their own POW difficulty threshold.
It continues to be put through the paces--it's currently day 3 of being DDoS'd and the superfriends relay continues to serve the public unabated, zero downtime, no latency. :meow_heart_bongo:
And no, it wasn't vibe-coded. I prefer to hand-code where high throughput and extreme optimization are required!
One day I'll open source and release it, when the feature creep settles and I'm happy that the code is optimized enough. It already filters thousands of events a minute without really stressing the server, but I'm a stickler for performance and improvement.

Ahoy @npub107j…ncxg! I've got a @npub1era…skz0 request... could you add support for kind 1984 (reports)?
Ideally what I'm thinking is a way to easily view/disgest them with relevant links to the users, events, etc..
At the moment I have been using #grimoire to browse reports to the superfriends relay, but it requires opening the raw JSON for each and converting hex to npub, etc.

Being a decentralist means recognizing that the true goal for social should be a return to the OG principles: the only algorithm should be reverse cronological sort. The original method was always the best.
Decentralise it: let users pick how they want their feed filtered and sorted. Anything else is veiled bureaucracy pushing some weird agenda.

I just checked in Amethyst and "search.nos.today" isconfigured as one of my Search Relays, but not as a r/w relay. Does it take it from this?

Today Heathcliff had a big day. 🐱
He went to the vet for review, exactly two weeks after he was hit by a car. All good news: vets are amazed at his recovery and everyone there knows him now; he's such a character!
His limp has disappeared in the past days, he's jumping up and down all over the place with full mobility. I am so grateful that he wasn't more seriously injured--being hit by a car is usually catastrophic. 🙏
He also got neutered and microchipped today!
B-Day (Balls Day). Farewell, big balls... I'll always remember those furry round guys. He's taken it well, no discomfort that I can see. Currently sleeping snugly with Shadow.
My daughter decided to put his new microchip ID card on his head for some reason tonight, and Heathie just sat there balancing it. 😹
He's such a good boi! Vets can't believe he was a stray, he's always so calm and friendly.
And now he's officially chipped and registered as part of our family! Chuffed about it! A bit of good news after a very hard two weeks for this little guy! 😻🥰🥹

It's absolutely amateur level. It's slowed now to an piss drip of a trickle, to the point where regular legitimate notes are being published on the relay at a higher frequency than the so-called DDoS... kinda sad. 😹

They're still trying to DDoS the superfriends public #nostr relay, but everyone continues use it without any service interruptions. Absolute weaksauce tactics. 😹
If you're going to DDoS my infrastructure, at least take me offline... otherwise it's not really a denial of service, is it? Maximum clowning from certain people here. 🤡

GM and PV nostriches! FYI the superfriends #relay is undergoing a heavy #DDoS attack this morning. It's significant (tens of thousands of events per second), but the relay is absolutely capable of dealing with it, without even slowing down. So services continue to run as normal. 😹👉🤡
I have a pretty good idea who may be behind this DDoS, but that's not important for now. I'll just say that like all things they do, this is amateurish and insufficient to stop anything.
If any other #relays are under attack, remember that spammers and DDoS clowns always prefer to use ephemeral event kinds.

Yes, very lovely! I always felt that was such a shame about beans, that they lose so much of their pattern when cooked and become hard to tell apart. But they're beautiful to display now as you have done!

Thank you! For what it's worth I am sorry you subscribed only to discover this afterwards, because I'm sure it may have impacted your decision.
When I checked their website it did seem like they were heavily trying to funnel users to subscribe for access.
There is nothing wrong with supporting initiatives and subscribing, but I would hope that the services we subscribe to are honest and legitimate in their approach.
