Serious question. Would it be considered extractive to keep borrowing fiat against Bitcoin on the assumption that Bitcoin will always go up relative to fiat? And if you take advantage of an exploitative system (fiat) in that way, is that an act of survival or a form of participation in the system? I’m not saying don’t use your Bitcoin as collateral to do things, I guess what I’m wrestling with is it seems adopting the idea of alway borrow never sell is just participating in the fiat ponzi, but with Bitcoin. I don’t know, maybe it’s seen as a way to accelerate the end of fiat? Maybe it’s a cheat code? Maybe it doesn’t matter. 🤷

Go to Japan and you’re jacked into Japanese culture. Go to Spain and you’re jacked into Spanish culture. Most of the world is like that, one main protocol, maybe a few plug-ins. America’s different. It’s a glitchy, beautiful mashup of cultures stacked on top of each other. “The melting pot” It’s supposed to morph, fork, and remix. That churn isn’t a failure state, it’s the whole experiment.
Yeah, we clash. When you’ve got this many identities running in parallel, there’s going to be packet loss and noise. But that friction is exactly what makes this place what it is. An open source and permissionless culture of sorts. If you want clean, default English white culture, there’s a node for that. It’s called England. Go there. When they demand that system, at least it maps to what they’re on.
In America, the social contract is entropy and remix. If you’re trying to lock it down to one “real” culture, you’re basically trying to uninstall the OS and close source it. GTFO.

I think the most underrated feature of NOSTR is its role as an identity layer. It’s built right into the protocol, but it’s usually pitched as a generic social media alternative.
In the future the default assumption will be everything online is fake. We’ll only trust what’s cryptographically signed. In that world, it’s not the specific app that matters most, but the way we authenticate content. That’s where NOSTR will quietly become a big deal.
We’ll need better web-of-trust solutions to build reputation on, and we need ways one can spin up and manage as many identities as they want, while still treating them as a single ID on their end. Being able to know the reputation of an identity without knowing the actual owner behind it feels like the future. I think NOSTR is the beginning of that.
