Many US schools have Spanish as part of their curriculum, but it's not a required part - it's only an elective. Couple that with the... interesting... people that it's obvious are a major part of our country and it's no surprise that a lot of people don't know a word of Spanish.

The only downside I've found so far to Rust is complexity. It's a deep language and you have to have a good grasp on certain concepts before even a "Hello world" makes a ton of sense. It's very much worth the effort, though.

It is possible in the US to have decent insurance. We've had UHC and it's as awful as you think. My wife has insurance through her work that is actually good. ER visit usually ends up about $200. Expensive prescriptions are usually $50 or less once the deductible kicks in.
However, you *will* pay somehow. The monthly cost for her insurance, split between us and her employer, is the same as our *mortgage payment.*

This. The only problem is that at least in the US, we are dealing with people in power creating the dystopia *and* the awful people at the bottom who put them there. It really feels like the "this is fine" meme.

Linux runs decently on spinning disks. You can tell if you've been spoiled by SSDs, but performance is acceptable. Haiku runs well on anything, which is completely not surprising

100% agree. There have been a lot of great things added to 10.
I've also found lots of bugs that remain unfixed, dark patterns to near-force their business agenda -- especially in edge, enough popups and advertisements to make me feel like it's 2014 again, and serious resource usage bloat.
10 is absolutely unusable with a mechanical hard drive and 4GB of RAM, and my work was deploying machines with that in 2019 because machines with those specs worked well at the time.

I honestly wonder when Windows is going to get so bad that it collapses in on itself. It's always been held together with baling wire and chewing gum, but it hasn't shown it this much since Windows ME

I spent all day today configuring #Windows11 PCs and I can say without hesitation that it's more broken than 10 and consumes more RAM. Poor design choices, terrible responsiveness, popups galore, and bloat everywhere.
I'm honestly shocked that it works at all, TBH.
