Thought of a new business. I can be a witness. I will sit and listen while you tell me anything you want, because it is vastly important to gave another human being hear your words sometimes. Of course, I will charge for this service. I won't take notes, and I won't record you. Just you, telling just me, whatever you need or want to say.
AI proof. Talking to robots will never equal this. It is a human need, to communicate with other humans. To be witnessed by others.

I'm still curious how you came to see belief as a requirement for emotion. I'm definitely deep down the hole into time being quite different than how we have understood it. The last dangerous place I found myself was wondering how easily memories can be replaced, and how much of our "past" is just an on-demand construction / imagination.
I think I'm beginning to write a book. Did about 3600 words the other day. It included a nice discussion on what it meant to feel 14 degrees Celsius, maybe I'l dump that onto nostr.

2025-10-22 02:07:48 UTC

What some may consider objective reality, I consider information. In itself it may be shared and remains the same, but each who encounters it may understand it differently.
Consider the Epstein files. Two people could review all that information, and one could come away thinking that Epstein was an evil man. The other could come away wondering what had happened during his childhood to hurt him so deeply. Very different understanding of the information, yet neither is wrong.
I would continue this by stating that our individual interpretation of information is based on emotional state and memory of experience.

2025-10-22 01:48:31 UTC

How confident are you that beliefs precede emotions? I would counter that beliefs are based on remembered experiences, and that memory is largely emotional responses. Emotion informs our sensory sysyems as well, further impacting our memories and thus our beliefs.

Why would you expect anyone to be honest, unless honesty aligned with their incentives? I would counter that anyone's capacity to "be honest" with another is dependent on a coincidence of wants. That coincidence may come as a corrolary of shared ethics, but I doubt you would expect to share ethics with the person you describe.

2025-09-03 02:13:26 UTC

I've probably been consuming too much of the Rumble algo lately, but the politics over there seem very oriented toward fixing voting in the USA, theoretically so the other side can't cheat.
This is not a constructive argument to enter, IMO. I don't believe elections are fair. I don't believe in the capability of the population to elect a leader. I suppose this means I don't believe in democracy.
Leadership simply isn't something that is elected. Leaders do not beg a populace for power, they assert power. To put it differently, leadership is taken, not granted.
I'm also fairly anti-state. I don't think the state promotes leadership, but rather stifles it. I do not think leadership infers state, nor do I think leaders are born of state.
Dangerous thoughts.

Riding to Spokane tomorrow to hopefully spend some time with my daughter.
I hurt her feelings (completely inadvertently) some months ago, and havent seen her since Christmas. I hadn't even got a text from her since March. She missed my birthday (April) and fathers day.
I finally got her to respond to me via a text and confirm things were not good, after checking with her boyfriend that they were ok. She laid it out in a long text, but I need to begin working it out with her in person, so off I go. I was pkanning to go anyway, even if she had never replied, just to be there in person in case whatever she had to say was something she didn't want to put into text.
It's been rough times, plenty of nights with more worry than sleep, but hopefully we can make it right starting this weekend.
The wind therapy is much needed as well.

After looking into it, I also decided to give it a try. I would assume my mitochondria as being in relatively good shape after a couple years of low-carb eating. My energy levels were fine, I didn't have any brain fog, so no real reason to try it other than just general curiosity.
I started at what the bottle described as 20mg (8 drops). After 15 minutes, I didn't feel at all well. Flushed, maybe even feverish, a little itchy, and just generally ill. That went away after an hour or so, gradually. I think I did the same thing for a few days with similar results, before deciding to halve my dose. Even at 10mg, I still feel it, but it is only mildly unpleasant. I may halve it again.
I haven't noticed extra energy or mental clarity. I'm hoping that even at a low dose, I may get some of the positive cellular effects.
While I was at it, I also got an iodone supplement. Even living coastally, I figured a little extra wouldn't hurt since I no longer use iodized salt. For both of them, I will likely finish the bottle, then take 6 months to a year off before trying them again, if I then decide to bother.
Did you find you needed more than the label suggested, or less as I discovered? Also, have you seen anything about combining MB with DMSO? Just curious.

Ok, so assuming "Israel" is the dominant global superpower, and the "globalists" are aligned with the interests of "Israel", if not working directly on its behalf, and the world banking system is also contolled by "Israel" and its interests...
And assuming that my own interests are NOT ultimately aligned with those of Israel, how could I not privately hold as much Bitcoin as I could acquire, as Bitcoin will likely never be fully governed by "Israel"?
@#nevent1q…cp7x

2025-06-28 04:01:57 UTC

Superpowers (as I see them) loosely ranked by influence/control:
"Israel"
China (CCP)
"Islam"
"Vatican"
Russia
India (Brahmins)
I'm not at all committed to this ranking. Anything not on this list is either heavily controlled by one of the above or just not all that powerful.
What we now call globalists are likely working on behalf of "Israel".
Items in quotes are not technically describing geographical regions, religions, or ethnic groups, but the leadership associated with each of these terms. Religion, ethnicity, and geography may be tools used to assert control and influence, but are not a good measure in themselves of the overall power of the leadership.
Individual people belonging to a region, ethnicity, or adhering to a religion are also not assumed to be part of a particular power structure.

As a follow-up on my use of Replit, I did a lot with it today. I got rid of the .Net dependency first thing - but this is roughly when I did get quite annoyed. It gives you 10 "snapshots" for free as part of its trial use, but the agent determines where those snapshots are taken. So I started the day with 3 left. I made a query of the agent to do a thing. It did the thing, but took two snapshots to do it. So, 1 left. One more query - it gets about halfway through doing the thing, takes a snapshot, says it has more to do, and stops.
In trial mode, you can't roll back. I had the code from before I started the day, but really wanted those changes. Now fucking Replit has basically held me hostage - put in your credit card info or have this now unusable code. Fucking bastards. As you could have guessed, I paid for a month of service. Now I have 25 credits for something, but after working at it all day, and doing some debugging (making it fix code it got wrong) and fighting it over how to properly display icons (I won, after about 10 prompts), I probably used almost all of that.
In good news, I have a working app that will save me a ton of time and allow me to outsource a bunch of busy work to India. The app is friendly enough they can use it; powershell was not. In bad news, Replit has my CC info. I can think of 2-3 more apps to build...

I believe a similar number can be derived by figuring out how much bitcoin would be needed to claim to be in the wealthiest 1% of world population. I think once accounting for lost coins, the number ended up being around .25 bitcoin. I made a point of securing at least that much for myself and each of my children as an early stacking goal.
That's the real magic to it - if it helps you by giving yourself a goal to work towards, then it might be priceless, regardless what the actual number is.

My other struggle with today's AI is that most of my questions are regarding current events - and since AIs are not yet being continually fed with current event coverage, they are unaware of these events. Example, Gemini 1.5 doesn't know trump was re-elected, so when I asked it summarize the executive orders issued in the last 10 days, fail.
Soon, I'm sure. And yes, I know I am using low-quality outdated tools. Just learning.

My thoughts have been similar, but target mobility, as I assume roads will quickly become impassible. RVs might not be ideal if they can't leave the pavement without getting stuck.
Part of my plan is living near a river and having a boat. Within about 30 minutes I can be in the water, and another hour will put me in the pacific ocean. From there I can target small islands and unpopulated sections of coastline.
Another thought is having a motorcycle and knowing how to ride them (and ATVs). This allows me use a mixture of roads and trails, get to far less populated areas, and most importantly use a lot less fuel.
I don't think it is a matter of having items stockpiled, but skills.

I may not survive that decision, but it would still be preferable to the alternative. In some ways, I hope this comes sooner than later, to increase my chances of survival. To get to this point, the implant would be required to continue in profitable and desireable work in society. I assume almost anything that would be implanted at this point would have some means of communication (even basic tracking like rfid), and that would be a no-go. I'm not spending time hopping between faraday cages for privacy.

I appreciate the artwork and your thoughts on the matter. It is definitely an interesting thought experiment, and the outcome is far from obvious. At one point I thought it might be a desireable genetic trait that we would naturally select for. Now I am doubtful it would ever be permitted to happen. The AI potential to effect it in a very different way (predictive analysis) is a new wrinkle, though, and just as unknowable and dangerous. I think it is much more likely, though.

Food since Jan 1:
Steaks
Butter
Eggs
Salmon
Pork sausage
Slow-cooked pork
Beef broth
Coffee
Water
I think that is it. Might have had a couple other meats I'm not remembering, like a pork chop. I did have some freeze dried beef liver.
I'm trying really clean #carnivore for a while, no dairy except butter. I'm sure my wife will still end up putting some spices into things that I don't want, but I won't pretend to be perfect, just clean enough to get the weight off. Yes, that is really the primary goal this time. I can have other goals once I have a BMI under 30.
I'm also trying to eat less overall, I think that was part of my issue. I'm allowing coffee, butter, and beef broth as bridge foods (something I can eat between meals of meat). I've been eating a little less butter as well, was hitting that pretty hard at times.
There's some other efforts, like not worrying as much about quality of meats (like I will eat my wife's slow cooker pork, even if it has some spices and garlic and shit in it.)
Started carnivore Easter 2023. Haven't stopped, but have had my issues staying strict, because I am addicted to sugar. This is the best effort I csn make today, nothing else.

When Joe tried to drill him a bit on the vaccine, he said that he believed it was still generally a good idea for most to get vaccinated. That tells me plenty about his depth of character. I ecpect to see lots more of this, populists appearing on shows like Rogan to try to repair their image or signal support for the current political tide. Zuck was easy to spot, others won't be. I appreciate this, and I understand the comparison to wavlake and fountain. I am listening to ep 105 today, seemed to be a good starting point, but I may rewind a little. I wish you and Ian the best with implementing your big ideas. That takes courage, and clearly you have plenty.
There have been lots of "watch stupid ads, win stupid prizes" attempts over the years. I had a stuffed monkey from "punch the monkey" for a lot of years. Lately these have been really scammy, advertizing gift cards for redemption or even bitcoin payouts that just never quite happen. Clearly these companies are siphoning off ad revenue and passing on little, if any, rewards to users. I think your attention marketplace, if transparent enough, could overcome some of that bad juju.
I still have many reservations over whether there is a market for what you are proposing, on either the ad side or the user side. I suppose we will find out!

But yeah, really interesting how Ian (likely) has built up a legend around several often-repeated catchphrases. I like the idea of the concept, using a basic web of trust model for an algo. The whole advert marketplace? Good luck with that, I suppose we'd have to see how it plays out in the wild.
Also, what is to stop me from just using another nostr client that doesn't ask me to watch ads? I guess it depends how much of this is really running on nostr.

Ok. After really trying to read through the nextblock information, it looks like another nostr client. Cool.
But what is the C.H.A.O.S. Cartel? I don't see that defined anywhere, and I must not be cool enough to just know this.
Will I sign in with my npub? Will it use my established nostr lists? Will it have relay control? Why would I link my strike account, and what if it is already linked to my noatr account?
Lots of questions, too many to just try the beta, or sign a list. This actually feels like a scammy deal, but I'm really trying to give it a fair ahake.

I agree. The "other shit" factor is sure to be wild as well. Most of what I was spitballing would fall into that "other shit" designation. Maybe North Americana shits the bed and ends up being colonized by China. I've figured a Chinese takeover of the US would resemble a corporate merger rather than a military action. China has similar hooks in Canada, I believe. We could become the north american division of China Inc.
Somewhere in this mess it would be nice if some people would modernize to the point where they no longer need to drop bombs or even take military action. It is pretty damn pointless, aside from propping up certain economies.
Drones should make human combatants obsolete. Any attack would be on infrastructure or civilians.
Again, all this collapses into dystopia at some point. It is hard to even dare to imagine a wonderful future, even with bitcoin holding out a glimmer of hope.
And this is why it is so critical to create a wonderful present, where each day is the best you could hope for. Thrive. Not for the future, but for now. Store up these good times, we'll need them during the hard times, and we'll store up good times then as well. I think that is the best meaning of stay humble, stack sats.
And Mexicans are amazing people! Actually, people are all amazing everywhere, and everyone is just trying to make the best of their existence.

2025-01-08 03:31:47 UTC

I just don't know how serious Trump is about annexing Canada. Part of me says "that will never happen", and the other part of me thinks there is someone out there saying "hold my beer!"
For all I know, it has already been decided. These kind of things tend to be figured out well before the common man is apprised of the outcome.
And why not take on Mexico as well? Keep going, maybe take a rest in Panama. Would be interesting to see the entire north american continent operate under a single government. Would fix some border issues, maybe.
Could it be necessary to suffer the coalescence under a larger state to allow it to fully fail so we can become post-statist?
I'm not really an anarchist. But I'm not really a statist either. At times I could see myself as libertarian, but there are flaws there too that can't be avoided. I think I may be a tribalist, but the tribe is itself hard to define, and to operate properly, must be kept small. Democracy isn't optimal, by any means.
I'm starting to go down some darker paths with the issues of overpopulation, if we need some kind of cull, etc.
Just the meanderings of a curious mind.

No, you start with what has worked for thousands if not millions of years, an ancestral diet consisting mainly of animal fats and proteins. This results in far less need for treatment. What remains, treat with the best tools modern tech has given us, without forsaking our core biology.
This is an order of operations issue, not an either/or. The "evidence" is based on "data" from a population that is already ill from their diet of industrial garbage and plants. Step one must be to fix this. It can happen very quickly on an individual level, but may never happen on a societal level as the profits do not align.

Every recent scheme I have seen for #bitcoin inheritance planning seems to rely on a third party holding a key to a known bitcoin wallet. Depending on the details, this means that a third party would at least know that I had bitcoin, and at worst be able to determine (or actually know) how much bitcoin is to be inerited (theoretically, how much bitcoin I have.)
I want none of that. My kids (and most of my family and friends) know that I have some bitcoin. That is already too many people. Companies don't need to know, govts don't need to know (same thing), and the less people that know, the better. Nobody except for me should ever know how much (or little) I have. No one. So long as I live.
The only ones that need to know how much there is after I die are those who should receive it - my kids. I don't want this in a will, to be brought up in probate court, etc. None of my other family or friends need to know, and nobody (or company or govt) that knows my kids should know.
I think what I need is some relationship with a company that will contact my kids (and only my kids) in the event of my death, and give them a message. (In which would be instructions for them to follow). I should be able to modify that message at any time, in a secure way.
The death should not be confirmed until I have failed to respond to multiple queries, over multiple forms of communication. They won't need these instructions until months after I am dead, possibly years. But again, I should be able to customize or change this protocol.
I've heard of such services being offered, but not recently or reliably.
Any ideas? #asknostr

I'm giving DMSO another try. About 4 days in to topical treatments for various skin conditions. These are all conditions that have not responded to removing seed oils or plants from my diet. Not sure if DMSO is a solution, but since it is relatively harmless, and I had some on hand, I thought I would try it.
I was surprised that I was moderately sensitive to it. There's definitely been a burning sensation for the first 10-15 minutes. I saw some reddening the first day, not really since then.
I'm only treating once per day. I am using it full-strength, not diluting it. My reaction is completely bearable, and seems to be improving. I have not noticed any improvement in any of the conditions I am trying to treat, and may try twice or even thrice a day if my sensitivity improves.
May as well document it here. Conditions I am minitoring - several warts, calloused/thick skin, dry skin, baldness, various skin tags, recovery from an infected cuticle (which I also treated with it when it was badly infected).
Experimenting is fun! n=1.

Buddhist ideology. Strong families, low tolerance for bullshit. Lots more here as well, but India seems to thread the needle between "western" and "eastern" ideologies.

It's not suffering if I'm just doing it whenever it feels like a good time. I'm going to be doing other physically demanding stuff over the weekend, probably won't do many squats or curls. I find I end up doing squats when I take my dog out to shit, sometimes with him pulling me off balance. 31days? Whatever. I know I won't stop there, but I'm not necessarily doing it daily. I'll suffer through your updates though. Anything to help a fellow former fat man sweat, I guess.

Fine. I bought a resistance band last weekend, and decided today to use it for some bicep curls. Losing a bunch of weight has left my upper arms looking scrawny, so I thought it might be time to do something about it. I've started doing squats, for similar reasons. Just 10 at a time, whenever. I tried 20 and that was too much then, maybe not now.

got some new electrical tools today, a wire stripper and wire crimper. both quality items from ideal/channel lock. got one more pair of crimpers on order. So much nicer than what is in the electrical aisle of most retail hardware stores.
