Rolled the dice, a 100+ times, kind of aware that inserting any device whatsoever into that process, defeats the purpose of it indeed, and requires trust at some degree.
From what the essay conveys, there are multiple ways of separating creation from storage from usage.
A word to the Shell script? Where to run it?
And on the "little adjustment" of the 24th word?
What would the exit ramp actually look like to migrate from a Coldcard? Is the latter still an option when combined with a SeedSigner?

That's an important distinction: the technical barrier then may be lower than I thought; the real barrier is the discipline to understand, test and take responsibility for the process. Perhaps self-custody is less a technical problem than a question of agency. A question of being operationally disciplined.

Bitcoin's block space still isn't being competed for by a mature global monetary economy.

Hayek's insight was that order emerges when individuals act on knowledge unavailable to any central authority.
Bitcoin does not eliminate coordination.

Which raises another question:
Does supply-chain depth emerge organically from enough individual actors choosing BTC, or does it require deliberate coordination at some point to reach escape velocity?

I'm not referring to holding BTC back.
I'm referring to whether economic flows remain Bitcoin-native once they enter the system.
"Retention" in the sense of "settlement continuity".
If a merchant receives BTC and pays a supplier in BTC, nothing has been retained.
The sats are moving.
The question is simply:
What conditions make economic actors voluntarily choose BTC for settlement rather than terminating every flow in fiat?
Somewhere between payment acceptance and settlement, a decision is being made.
What drives it?

Most conversations around adoption focus on onboarding users and merchants, yet every time the discussion gets practical, it seems to converge on the same bottleneck: retention beyond the point of sale.
What I'm trying to understand is whether this is primarily a liquidity problem, a coordination problem, or simply a lack of enough real-world experiments.
Living in Colombia, I may actually have the opportunity to test some of these assumptions on a small scale.
If nothing else, it would be interesting to document what happens when one deliberately tries to build settlement loops rather than merely payment acceptance.

The fact that you immediately point to the bottleneck rather than to examples makes me wonder:
Have you personally seen any small-scale clusters where BTC regularly circulates between merchants, suppliers and employees without immediately reverting to fiat?

Around eight businesses that I'm aware of.
A mechanic, a business administration school, three coffee shops and a handful of others.
The bigger challenge seems to be exactly what you describe: most still treat Bitcoin as a payment rail rather than a treasury or settlement layer.
Out of curiosity, what have you seen work best in moving from "accepting Bitcoin" to actually retaining and recirculating it?

Bitcoin has solved many problems...Store of value. Self-custody. Global settlement. Censorship resistance.
But how does capital massively flow into real-world Bitcoin adoption?
Not venture-scale software. Not ETFs. Not fiat banking.
I mean actual transition infrastructure... Because the risk is mistaking agreement for adoption.
Many understand the thesis.
Far fewer live it economically.
Only through embodiment do ideas materialize and spread.
So the question remains: how does a monetary network become a functioning economic reality?

There may be an inherent weakness not in Bitcoin itself, but in parts of the Bitcoiner worldview (and I include myself in this):
the assumption that the transition can occur primarily through the digital realm, as if "Bitcoin alone reorganizes embodied economic life".
Technically, unless coins are mined directly from energy itself, how else can the new economic paradigm fully settle while materially dependent on the old one?
Is this not precisely where an unresolved tension lives: a new monetary network attempting to spread through infrastructures, dependencies and incentives belonging to the previous one?
The question of course is not whether Bitcoin works.
The question is:
how else does energy itself truly shift?

The ETF paradox is that in that scenario, people do not truly own the monetary network:
they own claims to exposure through custodians.
Without circular economies, self-custody, and real-world BTC exchange between people, Bitcoin risks becoming digital gold trapped inside the architecture of fiat finance.
The irony is: Bitcoin can "win" financially while partially losing philosophically.
No paradigm shift.
