As a long-time gamer, Discord as a company can absolutely go swan dive off a cliff. Choosing invasive practices regarding their userbase and privacy is completely unacceptable.
I'm also deeply saddened to see my gaming friends admit it doesn't bother them - sunken cost fallacy and the boiling water to frog scenario are all too real.
I would NEVER under any circumstances give my identifying information to a large company that has already suffered data breaches and not exactly been forthcoming to users and the public.

Any recommendations on a linux distro for daily PC use? Extremely flexible parameters work related as I already use mainly open source programs as much as possible now - more limitations on my bad weather seasonal uses for some online gaming to pass time.
Nothing like me waiting until roughly two weeks out from Microsoft dropping Windows 10 support. 🙄
Moderately tech savvy - use a linux based phone as my daily driver, will still have to do some occasional searches to answer questions but I can make it work.

#FarmLife Update - Attempting to make a last minute repair this AM on the New Holland round baler - repair was successful, however one of the air bags seems to have a leak under pressure. Every time we fill the machine and go to leave the made bale, air leaks off lowering the required pressure to continue baling. To top it off, Mother Nature is sending a few days of (arguably much needed) rain, so the hay we have down needs baled ASAP.
Hooray for neverending mechanical issues.
Also, I love sunshine but it is absolutely scorching outside... 👨‍🌾🔥☀️

Gearing up for this coding bootcamp in August - I can read the merits / discrediting comments all day long, however at this point if I'm honest with myself I simply want to give my best attempt at learning to produce effectively using computers as a tool and it's well within my budget. 27 weeks is a relatively inexpensive cost for me at this stage I'm willing to put in the work and see where I may end up on the other side.
Using a few weeks here in July to focus up, rest up, and keep in shape, and go into it full swing. No excuses.

Transitioning away from cattle raising on the farm has been a whopper of a headache...
I've been exploring options for what we might attempt. Without spending tens of thousands of dollars in equipmemt that we arguably can't afford...
One crop I'm very interested in establishing in the next year is lavender.
We have so many wildlife pests in our area almost anything larger scale production wise is virtually dead prior to launch when it comes to vegetables / fruits... we have deer regularly invading our yard, mere feet of my home. I can't walk downstairs during the night without seeing them come out of a field and graze three feet outside of a window. They're far too numerous and even if we start going after them I'm fairly certain they'll outpace our efforts easily and the issues will persist.

Working from home seemed like something I would never experience...
It's been challenging, but equally if not more refreshing. I don't have my co-workers in my ears all day discussing politics, economics, subjects that they, and myself know nearly amything about.
I try to spend this time focusing purely on positive growth, improved and healtheir habits, eating in peace and calmly instead of rushed, maybe even some classical music or something to keep me focused / clear headed...

In my past life I was very much into DJing.
I became infatuated with learning how vinyl DJs could beatmatch tempos, scratch records, etc.
I bought decks (two Technics 1200's, an analogue Vestax (A Japanese company no longer in business) PMC III Pro Mixer, and a handful of break records.
Scratching was / is a relaxing art form to me, almost trance like, as I imagine most people feel when playing a musical instrument they are interested in.
I had upgraded that setup over the span of a year or two... A (then) new age mixer, analogue in control, but made my Native Instruments and integrated with their (then) popular software Traktor Skratch Pro. Bought some speakers for gigs, always practicing and learning new techniques.
Somewhere along the way, I allowed life to sway me away from my newfound hobby, I was in an unhealthy relationship, and being young and relatively naive I just assumed, "Oh it's time to grow up, I could use this money for X" so I sold it all. Piece by piece, nearly all at a sizeable loss.
I regretted that decision for most of my adult life. Not because I believed I would be a superstar traveling and performing at festivals, but just because it was a fantastic creative outlet for me. Healthy. Exciting. Always new music to become a fan of, artists, etc.
I know as a relatively newer bitcoiner to the space, I always hear and see stories of people mentioning how bitcoin in some form or fashion 'saved' their life, inspired them to learn something, etc. While I live on a bitcoin standard, I haven't been around long enough, nor make enough to see such life altering changes, perhaps one day, but I do know that it has allowed me to be given a small platform of what feels like stability in a world that seems to be much less as days go on. Last year I told myself it was not only okay to spend a little here and there for myself, I bought a new deck and the same mixer in nearly mint condition, and having just a simple analogue setup to occasionally just play and have fun is definitely a habit I'm happy to have back.
For me it's never been about becoming a millionaire, or buying some luxurious property, etc., but just to live. To be without a lot of worry on my plate, and in turn use my own solid foundation to be a better one for others where possible. Each day is an opportunity to tamp more earth under my feet, so strengthen myself, so that I can support others as well as I can myself. One of my favorite quotes is from Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig, in which he writes, "The place to improve the world is first in one's own heart and head and hands, and then work outward from there."

My Father held cattle in some capacity for about 50 years thus far. We just sold the remainder of the Black Angus herd 2 years ago as his age has reached a point where we didn't want him to be out in sub-zero temps dealing with a heffer having calving complications, etc. It was always fantastic having a freezer full of our own beef / steaks / roast / etc., but I am def not built with the same consistent levels of patience he had to deal with them. Not the same having quiet pastures now though that's for sure!

Old glass bottles from the 1950's that have miraculously survived to current day times from my Great Grandfathers Dairy business.
I still remember into the early 2000's where we were still operating the Dairy Farm until government forced us to shut down. Small farms can't make money anymore. If they are still out there they are most likely buried in debt, and creating negative cash flows annually.
I think this was most certainly the spear of what moved me into desiring a creative role, and looking into alternative paths for making my living, if an honest three generations of farmers, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and equipment and men worked to the bone couldn't do anything aside from painfully hemmorage their energy - there has to be a way.

I'm sure I didn't articulate my experience well enough via note, but I have used RoboSats previously with a different wallet and hadn't had a similar issue.
I def don't think my Alby Hub was having issues, I feel the hiccups I experienced had something to do with Tor Browser itself.
I'll have to possibly take screenshots on a future trade and see if I have the same issue repeated to share. 🫡

Back a ways I used to use Muun until they broke compatibility of paying lightning invoices due to some swap thing where it wasn't quite timely enough to pay the invoices. Still ironing out what works best for me lightning wise - my priority is self hosting if possible.

Hey guys,
So where I ran into an issue was through paying the actual trade invoice for a Robosats trade. When a window in my Tor Browser would pop up to confirm the payment, I would accept, and it would work away for a bit but never show the payment clearing in my Hub. At that point I believe me attempting the payment after a bit was then assuming the wallet no longer had the appropriate amount of Sats to cover the payment. Well eventually I even went as far as to add even more liquidity and allow things to settle before attempting to pay the invoice again, only to no avail.
I realize there is a lot of vague info here I wish I had kept logs or more detailed info for you guys, I was running the Tor Browser on a Windows 10 pc, the RoboSats was running as a self hosted instance on my Start9 server, (which I believe may have something to do with it as their mainline version tells users it's not as up-to-date as what RoboSats has released atm) and my AlbyHub was also self hosted on my Start9 - I have used AlbyHub prior and it worked so smoothly I was amazed.
I can only assume there was some sort of software side issue with compatibility, more than likely due to possibly a Tor Browser update, (I tend to check them frequently and will update for security purposes) or the RoboSats issue of it not being as current on Start9 marketplace as their own release.
Either way, I think you guys are doing a great job and look forward to bettering my understanding to using a turn-key self hosted solution for trades. 🙌

You won't have much trouble. Have been running my own for years now and aside from minor connection issues in very isolated cases (mainly Tor / provider hiccups) I stand behind their products vehemently.

The temperatures here on the farm are crazy.
51°F yesterday. Tomorrow night? Projected 18°.
Often find myself with pounding headaches during these swings. Kills my productivity.
Again, I know climate is some taboo topic, arguably more than politics, but these changes in nature and the local fauna don't feel natural.
You can see it in the insects that are around when they shouldn't be.
I fear when the weather will 'normally' be warmer during Spring season, we may be beset with pests that we'd otherwise hope were culled a bit.
Who knows, hopefully I'm completely erroneous. 🥴

Slowly but surely figuring out noStrudel. I like it on my desktop as I can self-host, and Primal on my phone while on the go.
noStrudel almost has too many options that I'm not well educated on at the moment, but otherwise I have zero issues with my hosted instance on a server. Need to spend some time this holiday to become more comfortable.

That's great! As a coding / programming newb I try to be mindful of my very apparent limitations. 🤣
My linux phone is a struggle enough at times.
Ocean is cool. I love the idea of Datum, but again being patient enough to see things operate a bit and I believe Start9 is adding some features soon to make it dummy-proof, so for the time being and potentially longer, running an Apollo II solo pool for now. Happy with it and keeping warm during this shite weather. ❄️

Understandable. I need to expand my own LN knowledge, in Albys defense, I think a majority of my issue was due to a conflict in my Start 9 version of Robosats not running smoothly with my Tor Browser. So no real fault of anyone, just some software hiccups.

I like it! However have had some issues using it via Tor to pay Robosats invoices. Def a hiccup for me and frustrating experience.

For the first time in a while I got out today and had lunch with an old friend.
In catching up, we discussed work, money, family, etc.
He goes on to tell me about how well work is going, the kids school progress, and essentially tells me even with all of that - he and his wife, who both work - and she with a college degree applied to her field of study in healthcare - are unsure about how to make ends meet financially.
He's accepting all the overtime he can - yet their spending still seems out of control and about as insolvent as the U.S. itself.
I just feel bad personally that these types of folks can't see the way out. Or at least a way to help them offset this neverending spiral they find themselves on.
I'm far from the type of person to stand here and say "Bitcoin fixes this", however it has helped my basic existance in a time where I definitely think almost everyone is NOT thriving like they want to be...
