@npub1re4…dlr0 No doubts about it, though an expat has a big paycheck in general as I read that there are different fees for some categories
The first three domestic workers sponsored by Kuwaiti families are exempt; the fourth and beyond pay KD $10 annually. Expats sponsoring domestic workers must pay the full KD $100.
KD $10 annually for agricultural workers, fishermen, shepherds, and dairy company workers.

@npub1re4…dlr0 I wasn't aware of this about EU for tourists

@npub1re4…dlr0 Well tourists pay only 5 $ in order to get that Visa indeed

@npub1re4…dlr0 Rather than scam, it's common to require expats to contribute. A percentage of income, shared with the employer, building social rights is the norm in most of Europe and East Asia. Kuwait's flat-fee model is the norm in the Gulf, where the state doesn't run a universal social insurance scheme for non-citizens and instead charges a fixed access fee. It's "normal" for that region as many around there.
Could not watch the yt due to log-in wall and too lazy to clear cache and change proxy but title tells me enough about the subject from the net.

@npub18am…p424 I asked you humbly because Bitchat itself it's security is meh and having Omarchy the creators of such protests as a thing.. the plugin is a competent, well-sandboxed wrapper. But you'd be running an unaudited protocol with known identity flaws, on a distro with a documented history of injection vulnerabilities and lax defaults. For a protest in a park where you're chatting with strangers in an unencrypted public channel, the risk is low. For anything you'd actually want to keep private, not.

@npub18am…p424 I see now, at a protest you're in a crowd, within BLE range of other people, phone out, no signal or no trust in the network. You open Bitchat, you see what's happening across the street, you relay for others. There is where Reticulum is overkill.. my curiosity now goes back to Omarchy, could you have done it without?

@npub18am…p424 Apart from that your dev is ok, good job even.
Do not get me wrong and think I'm about your git no in contrary it is a great feature but as I said Reticulum for greater reach with much more other options than Bluetooth only, you did a good job making it usable on mobile devices while serving on systemd etc, so it make me imagine that you need a range of devices at each perimeter whereas with Reticulum is a full networking stack that happens to be able to use BLE as one of many links.

@npub18am…p424 sorry there was a cross post when I edited... which you wont agree with.

@npub18am…p424 can tell that Bitchat is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh chat protocol by Jack Dorsey. No internet, no servers, no accounts. Your phone (or laptop) advertises over BLE, finds other Bitchat devices in range, relays their packets, and you chat in a public #mesh channel. Messages are signed (Ed25519) but not encrypted in the public channel. Range is whatever BLE gives you: a few meters, maybe 100 m outdoors with a good antenna.
edit: I would still prefer Reticulum

@npub18am…p424 Hey, no hard feelings. Use what you want, in the end I do not care about the persons using it but I was about the product which is a lame one and no not funny meme can ever solve this bruh

@npub18am…p424 Also, fuck Omarchy bs 4 real..
It is not a distro, just Arch Linux plus DHH's personal dotfiles and install scripts, not a meaningful distribution. The ~6 GB ISO (vs. Arch's ~1.4 GB) ships Zoom, Spotify, and other proprietary apps.
Also, Infosec researchers found issues including a default Docker socket configuration allowing any user process to escalate to root, and bash injection vulnerabilities in video titles and notifications.
And they fucking fasco's on top of it.
