Two Apple “why?” questions:
1. Why can’t Apple display a blood oxygen number on the Apple Watch? What is preventing them from sending a notification with a specific result from the iPhone if they are not allowed to display it on the Apple Apple Watch?
2. Why Liquid Glass? What is driving this massive design change? I don’t believe it’s a distraction from AI failings. My gut is that this is more of a long play for the days when we all wear glasses with heads up displays.

"A universal ‘Plug and Charge’ protocol for EV charging is coming in 2025"
The current fragmented EV charging landscape is a barrier to EV adoption. If this universal "Plug and Charge" succeeds, you'll roll up, plug in, and the billing happens automatically.
Add in dongle elimination and bidirectional charging (sending power back to the grid) and this feels like just what we need.
Will it survive? Flourish?

Like many other folks, I am going through a blazingly difficult time.
Trying to make sense of it all, trying to find a path forward. It's there, I know it is.
For now, it's putting one foot in front of the other, trying to avoid anxiety, find bits of joy where I can.
Always wanted to learn how to draw. Got some pencils, drew this cat (modeled from a sketch someone else did, 3 different pencils, hard, medium, soft).
I'm proud of this work. It's a step forward.

IIRC, the M2 MacBook Pro SSD was slower than the M1 (something about the number of NAND modules).

I love closeup pictures of the sun. This one is one of the best I've ever seen, one of the "Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2024" winners.
Don't miss the International Space Station crossing through the image.
Side note: The ISS ends its life in 2030, so after that, this type of image will no longer be possible.

How do I switch to video mode? Are you saying, if I open the camera app, then slide from Photo to Video? THEN click the camera button?
If so, that defeats the convenience of the camera button.
I think there's also a way to make video the default, but for folks who shoot still more than video, also not a solution.
Or am I missing something?

To start a video with iPhone 16 Camera Control, you need to PRESS AND HOLD the camera button.
For shorter videos, nice to have, easy to use.
For longer videos, fatigue can set in, let go for a moment and the video stops.
This is counter to the mechanism (tap to start, tap to stop) in the Camera app.
There a way to change this behavior? If not, perhaps this is something Apple might consider changing?
Worst case, I'll use the on-screen button for long videos. Meh.

Fun story.
I went to order my Apple Watch. The one I wanted was available for pickup on Friday.
Wasn't sure about the band, so I decided to head to the Apple Store to try some on, see what I like.
Great experience, found the band I wanted, headed home.
Back in front of my computer., went to order the watch. Not available for pickup anymore, and won't ship til mid-October.
Not a complaint, happy to wait, more a comment on how quickly that initial inventory moved.

Controversial opinion?
I find WhatsApp a FAR better place for large group threaded discussion than Apple or Google Messages (blue/green bubbles and all the issues there).
- Doesn't matter your phone type
- Easy to add new people to the conversation
Owned by Facebook, not clear how secure it really is, but if that's not an issue, WhatsApp is a great solution.

You can use your iPhone to find your Apple TV remote:
- iOS 17 or later
- Apple TV Remote or Siri Remote (2nd generation)
Here's how:
- Open Control Center
- Tap the iPhone remote
- Pick the Apple TV with the lost remote (if you have more than one)
- Tap the Find button (see pic)
It's actually a bit of fun. Give it a try, even if you have your remote in hand.

We were the VERY first of that book format, the one with the yellow stripe on the bottom and the giant piece of fruit in the center. I remember the phone call where they pitched that design to me and Jeff LaMarche. We were wildly against the grapefruit, though it worked out really well.
Why a grapefruit? Cause it's Apple, right?
