That depends on the outlet not the breaker!
If you have one hot leg of a 240V circuit, and a neutral, you have 120V. A lot of circuits are wired to outlets with no neutral pin though, and only have the two hots. If you have one that does (like dryers do, I think, 240 for the heater, 120 for the rest of the dryer), you can just (safely) seal off the second hot and wire it hot and neutral... if you don't, yeah you can make that work, no it's not code compliant :taz_laugh:

Literally yes.
Okay I'll explain. The breaker slots in a US breaker panel alternate phases as you go down, so any two adjacent to each other are on opposite phases.
99% of the time a 240V breaker is either Eaton or Schneider ("Square D") (I've yet to see an residential breakers not made by those two) taking two, single-pole breakers, bonding the trip mechanisms together, and putting them in an oversized casing. That's why they look the way they do.

First few days later:
No surprise, the town that I live in (with a population barely above 10k) has no nodes.
I'm tempted to slap a 33cm antenna on the tower I'm putting up, put a base station device at the other end and make it a local ROUTER or REPEATER just to get *something* going. And hey, it's not like adding one more antenna to the tower is going to be that big of a deal.
Just need to get some good coax that'll do ~915 MHz without too much loss...
