Heads up on recent mesa upgrades in postmarketOS edge:
* Due to changes in the drivers for the Mali GPUs in Mediatek SoCs like MT8183, the recent update to Mesa 25 causes graphical display issues on Mediatek SoCs. A workaround is in preparation: https://postmarketos.org/edge/2025/05/05/Graphical-issue-with-Mesa-25-on-Mediatek-SoCs/
* The qcom/adreno bug that caused GTK4 apps to fail to start with the new GTK4 rendering backend has been fixed in the latest patch release! Related workaround will be removed once it is in flatpak: https://gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/merge_requests/6472

Heads up: "On certain devices (Adreno-based GPUs, e.g. OnePlus 6) Flatpaks apps using GTK4 might fail to start with a currently unknown reason.

Update regarding the Matrix / OFTC IRC bridge for postmarketOS channels (+ related like Sxmo): We will keep a bridge around. We have set up a selfhosted bridge and are waiting on OFTC to increase our connection limit before we can start using it, which will probably happen any day now.

xiaomi-davinci & xiaomi-surya now use u-boot and are merged into a generic qcom-sm7150 port:

devices with the snapdragon 410 (msm8916) are generally very solid, some have working cameras, things will largely just work. however they're quite old and not the fastest (GNOME mobile isn't very usable)
the oneplus 6 and other sdm845 devices are reasonably powerful, the poco f1 even has camera. but there are issues with audio reliability in calls. Pixel 3a is quite solid but a little slower again

pmbootstrap got some big refactoring today to it's "apk" handling.
It will now always run apk on the host (no more slow apk through QEMU!) and should do a slightly better job at caching packages.

If you're already running pmbootstrap 3.0 alpha you can "git pull" and give it a whirl.

We just shipped some major refactoring in our initramfs, removing some of the oldest tech-debt in the distro and finally making it possible to boot without first finding and unpacking the "initramfs-extra" archive!
This new unified-initramfs behaviour is now the default for most devices, and may lead to a slight boottime speedup!
