Under a #Bitcoin standard, there will be existential consequences for bad behavior. There will still be bad people and crime, but value add and constructive behavior will be rewarded. And since it’s P2P, trust will become a thing again. Because if you shake hands and pay someone with your Bitcoin, they better deliver. Otherwise you’ll have to take care of it. No counterparty.

Yes, do you? Immutability is the state or quality of being unchangeable, unalterable, or fixed, representing something that never changes over time.
Core Devs changed to code which changed the properties of #bitcoin away from being money. Increased the attack surface. Decreased decentralization etc etc … and of course, if they can change that, why not other things.
Which brings me back my original question, I never understood why people make this logic error to say, some bad actors are using a workaround to hurt #bitcoin , let’s break the whole thing.

Maybe #bip110 will save #bitcoin , maybe not. But the Core v30 attack by the core devs and supported by corrupt influencers has stripped Bitcoin of its panacea status. Adoption has completely stalled. For Bitcoin to succeed, it needed to solve for two things in the absolute: Scarcity and immutability. The fact that some weakling core devs can just change the code has killed its immutability. The fact that, this day and age, there are only thousands of nodes, not millions, and they are very passive, has demonstrated a weakness in Bitcoin’s immune system. Bitcoin is in a bad way. Maybe Bip110 will save Bitcoin….but until then, yes.

It’s about the survival of #bitcoin
I had lunch with someone in an Agency whose job it is to kill Bitcoin around 2020.
He said, the single weakest link of Bitcoin are the Developers. They can change the code (granted, we were talking about scarcity). I laughed and said, luckily the nodes decide. They decide what they want to update and download and what not….turns out, the nodes are very passive, complacent, naive and also susceptible to a Sybil attack.
He may have been right, the CoreDevs and half of the key influencers are easy marks.
IMHO, it’s not about the severity of the change, it’s that the development process is the preferred perimeter to attack (and I’m repeating someone else’s thoughts here):
- Cheaper than legislation: Defaults and "safety" framing do the enforcement work.
- Plausible deniability: "We're just improving performance".
- Asymmetric impact: hits sovereign users hardest; institutional wrappers unaffected.
Development-Process Capture = Perimeter Control
You don't have to "hack" Bitcoin's consensus rules to influence how the network behaves.
You can steer what gets relayed, mined, or socially accepted by quietly shaping the development process — who gets funded, who reviews changes, which features become defaults, how releases are timed, and how communication is framed.
If you expect for governments to come out and try to ban Bitcoin, don't because that's not how the system works.
Systems don't rely on bans; they use knobs — adjustable defaults, standards, and processes that subtly guide behavior.
The Bitcoin development process is a dense cluster of such knobs.
Open source ≠ immune
Control flows through funding, maintainers, policy defaults, and release cadence.
There are probably less than a 100 people in the world who have game theory studied:
- the development process control surfaces — where steering actually happens
- what capture looks like
- how capture changes outcomes
- why the development process is the preferred perimeter to attack
…it’s the only thing that can kill Bitcoin.

Also, re your sentiment point, having so much #bitcoin in the stock market (I.e ETFs, Treasury Companies, etc) makes it behave like a risk asset, not save haven.
Plus, being highly liquid, it’s the first thing hedge funds sell. So also counter productive.

How will we organize after hyperbitcoinization?
I’m wondering what our society will look like in the future. I’ve posted before (see below), thoughts about why large centralized democracies don’t work. So, in the vein of decentralization, we may end up moving toward small communities, tribes (or some #Bitcoiners refer to them as citadels) of like minded peoples in the pursuit of their happiness.
Which led me to look at how American Indians organized. They seemed to, within their tribes, live so harmoniously amongst themselves and with nature.
American Indians organized many decisions around family units and tribal councils. One way to illustrate how it works is to look how American Indians disincentivized bad behavior.
Now probably the first thing to know about Native American history is that there was very little crime. Perhaps crime and punishment go with Western Industrial-type nations. Historically, travelers to the outermost regions of Native America commented on how honest and how little crime existed.
So what did they do if one of their own committed a “crime”?
Firstly, there were no jails. Secondly, while all tribes were different, in matters of severe offenses, the family or the clan usually dealt with the offender. Often the person guilty of the crime was “sentenced” to go away from the tribe and try to make it on his own — which in the long ago past, was almost a testiment to a death sentence. In the Lakota tribe there is a reference in the book, WATER LILY, about the offender having to make restitution with the family by taking a role in the family. Usually such people were so happy to not be put out of the tribe, that they became the best family members of all. Imagine if this were so in our society today? That the offender had to make restitution with the family for his acts? What do you think might be the result? Less crime, perhaps?
In the Creek society, as well as the Blackfeet, the crime of adultery (for women only) was a cut off nose — the tip of the nose. This was usually performed at the request of the offending husband and was done by the society that he belonged to.
As far as stealing is concerned, it was almost unheard of. George Catlin remarked that in all his travels in Native America he had never had one single thing taken from him, or even a hand lifted against him. In truth, one young man made quite a journey to join Catlin in order to return to him some of his property. However, if stealing had been done, the offending party again made restitution with the “victim” by supplying them with whatever they needed in return. Seems a much simplier process, doesn’t it? Make up the damage one has done to the person who has been harmed, himself.
Besides almost non-existent crime, there was also no poverty. Some people were more prosperous than others — such has always been the case amongst a people. But noone went hungry when there was food to be had within the tribe, nor did anyone go without.
And if a culture is known by its humanity towards others and the material condition of its people, then I would have to say that American Indians were, indeed, a culture to be proud.

Thirdly, no one can corroborate votes. As a wise man once said, it’s not who votes, it’s who counts the votes.
Lastly, even if votes were counted, democracy doesn’t work. Because of people:

They already have changed the code, Core v30. There are only ~20k nodes. The evil doers can just: spawn new nodes and use influencers to confuse people. The nodes are very passive and complacent. I agree that if we had millions of nodes actively working on securing the system, that would work as intended.
In the meantime we need to educate people and keep it simple. No changes needed to Bitcoin.

Agree with that; I’m not talking about how consensus works to decide what block is valid, but the changes to the code, that sets the rules for what gets validated. Ie Core v30. Core v30 is like a virus. It says it’s ok to include data in a block. It increases the attack surface. Maybe the changes will be a slow Degradation. Maybe the Next change could be fatal. And, at a higher level, why even mess with the code? It’s fine now. Having these devs mess with the code is the single biggest threat to Bitcoin.
