If it was done today the discovery of the horrible truth would be in act 1 and the real horror would be the grinding gears of men in suits giving the protagonist one runaround after another until they're too exhausted to keep trying to do anything while every normal person expresses nothing but total apathy about it. Unfortunately, it is more complicated than that. "Full access" means access to age-restricted channels and certain other features, none of which are the basic text channels used by most technical communities. Of course I would still recommend everyone seek to get off Discord if at all possible and use this as leverage to get any communities you are in to go with, but no, not /*all*/ discords are becoming categorically papers-please zones.

Well generally when I remove them I do it in bulk, so I just go on the server, vi /etc/aliases, and dd each line I don't need anymore.

well it all still goes into one inbox, but since they all have different To addresses it makes it a bit easier to write rules to auto-sort it into folders; you can still write those rules based on the From addresses if you know them, though

Possibly, but I think the industry overall has taken the wrong approach to XML. It's much simpler than the specifications make it look if you stick to the 95% case.
In cases like this I think XML can be more readable than JSON, but that's definitely a subjective thing.

I don't think it's necessary; RSS and Atom are widely supported and work well, there's no need to throw in another format for the same thing. Plus I feel like XML is a better format for this kind of thing than JSON, especially since you're likely to want to embed HTML content, which in XML can be done easily with XHTML, but in JSON can only be done with a very long string value.

I spent a little time looking at compression stats and I think, at an average length of 4 minutes or so, if they were FLACs they would be about 20M each, Opus 96k (lossless but fine for listening to most ears) about 3M each.
