Just a response on podcast index thing: yes its centralized but its not required to upload to rss. Its the one everyone references but the difference is its become centralized naturally as opposed to intentionally. Anyone can create an alternative index as RSS sits independent of that (though there is a network effects to consider in reality). The data is decentralized its only the reference library everyone happens to use is centralized. The key here is that the data is still self-hosted by the individual content creator. Podcast index can remove the reference to your data (like any relay can) but that doesn't rug your content, just the distribution via their library. No diff than if a relay chose to delete your notes or however its being stored. I guess there's blossom, but you can host your RSS feed in the same way too so there's no diff in that sense.

Genuinely curious, not trying to pick a fight. With nostr music, if I upload with sunami, does that also distribute me across all clients that say they do "nostr music" as in... everyone is using kind xyz or whatever it is being used? Is this generally consistent across the board? Again, not throwing shade, genuinely wondering.

Nostr music (in its current form) is objectively speaking a step backwards for musicians. Don't get me wrong, im a huge nostr fan and probably the loudest pro-nostr voice among the RSS crowd. But nostr music is not ready yet imo. For example, the issues around version control and ensuring users always get served the latest version is a non-starter for us from a business perspective.

We already have an infrastructure layer (rss) that works incredibly well. Don't recreate the wheel! Nostr doesn't need to be the infra. It acts optimally as additional programmable social layer that sits on top, not instead of.

If I have to re-upload or import my feed into each individual "nostr music" platform, then its no better than the legacy workflow we came from. We already "fixed" distribution, why break it again? Its the legacy system on nostr rails making it more complicated with a much smaller audience...

Will give it a shot. Never tried boosting with my zeus wallet.
Is there a way (technically speaking) to make some sort of unified service that resolves as keysend first and if not, attempts lnaddress? Maybe im talking out my ass but the point is, we either move forward with one or the other... or create a solution that unifies the two. Whatever happens we probably shouldn't stay fractured as we are, with creators using one and users using the other.

Sort of... technically, yes anyone can drop an lnaddress in and it will work***.
But right now 90-some% of the existing library has keysend node addresses in the feed. So if youre trying to boost a track, but if your wallet doesn't support keysend, chances are it won't go through. Since most commonly used wallets don't support keysend, the friction of finding a new wallet already loses the majority of potential paying users.
If you list an lnaddress in your feed, the opposite may be the case. Since most of the library is coded to recieve via keysend, most of the people actually boosting are doing so with keysend wallets. While not guaranteed, a good chance your lnaddress is missing a lot of payments. We use lnaddress and have noticed a lot of missed splits due to failed payments, especially on shows with a lot of splits involved.
We're in a situation where you can't put the genie back in the bottle. The existing content creators and a small pool of existing paying users are using keysend while the larger pool of potential paying users and adopters are not keysend compatible.
If more wallets (like zeus) supported keysend, it would immediately open them up as a solution to problem that unlocks a pretty significant use-case. And would immediately put them in the forefront as the recommended go-to wallet for 4v4 music.
I say all this as a non-dev and admittedly not understanding what it takes to implement keysend. Im viewing it from 21k from up.

Doesn't matter what it's called if the wrong tech is being applied and the value sent isn't being recieved.
On the technical side, treating the payment as a unsolicited tip as opposed to an invoice payment makes a lot more sense.
Im not trying to nitpick terms when we all know what everyone's talking abt here. Tips payments zaps boosts whatever. For marketing sure, don't call it a tip if you think it makes a difference psychologically. On a technical side though, the transaction looks more like a tip so we need to apply the proper technical framework.

Keysend is the solution that makes sense for recieving tips.
Lightning generally works on invoices (permissioned, one time use) which is great when you're buying something physical and/or need a reciept. Its a permissioned one-time event and makes sense for normal purchases.
But thats not what this is. Here we have a product (music) sat on a shelf for anyone to freely use. When someone pays, theres no explicit exchange of goods/services in the traditional checkout sense. We're talking tip jar... Keysend is the tip jar, you can permissionlessly stick money in there.
You're already receiving the service. But because you appreciate the work, you stick the money in the jar. End of transaction. No one needed to give you permission to drop the money in. Keysend is permissionless like that. A static address anyone can push payments to without needing any action or expiring single use transactions on the recipient side. The jar is always open.
Would it make sense to go to a show and every time someone wants to put cash in the tip jar, it requires the band to send them a bill first? No that's insanity.
If the transaction makes sense to provide a reciept (like buying a CD) then lightning invoicing makes sense. But the added friction of an invoice is entirely unnecessary in the context of tipping a performance, especially prerecorded streaming.
Right tools for the right job people...

@nprofile…9kky yesterday or a few days ago you mentioned something about how the future of all this stuff on nostr and wallets etc. Maybe? Or perhaps its just an excuse to tag the CEO for help pushing this agenda... anyways...
I think the most compelling and fastest growing part of nostr "other stuff" is the music scene. Most all existing library is using keysend. And it's a perfect working solution that just works permissionlessly with no fuss. Some wallets say it's too hard to implement for shared wallets as its a node side implementation... but fountain has already built a solution that works. We need more options than just fountain or we will centralize, yet again.
I would appreciate a wider push for custodial wallets to support keysend. As someone in the trenches, i can guarantee it will make a significant impact on onboarding artists.

Not gonna lie, was pretty burnt out after #SXWorldWide.
But coming back from Vegas has me amped up for more. Not because of the suitcoiners, but because of the real life nostriches truly embracing v4v music.
This is the most I've ever seen our v4v music scene represented at the Bitcoin conference. Nostr, RSS, and the v4v music space have made massive strides over the years and the conference has been a great yardstick.
Bitcoin conference was certainly bear market vibes. But as soon as I stepped into nosvegas and the various v4v music talks...

Theres a pretty big decentralized music scene here. Lots of livestream concerts are constantly happening. Music podcasts and radio shows. Its integrated in a lot of non-music apps too. For example, @nprofile…vyxv has a jukebox in his virtual farmers market that's connected to the music ecosystem here.
