We had a Cashu dev call yesterday and four (!!) new wallets based on NIP-60 were presented. NIP-60 is a standard for storing ecash on no:str relays, encrypted with your keys.
You open a wallet for the first time, login with your nsec, and boom, your balance appears.
Don't like this wallet? Switch to another one, enter your nsec, and your ecash appears there too.

While I certainly don’t advocate for victim mentality, I can’t judge all 30+ somethings living with their parents for their situation. This generation didn’t get many breaks: lack of employment opportunities post 08 crisis (their prime years to get started on a professional path), rising costs of living, unaffordable housing, lack of long term employment security, bleak climate outlook, growing totalitarianism and lack of hope, Covid, rising cost of education, unpayble student loans, ever-growing skillset required for good positions, more inflation.
Ya, you could pull yourself through all of these and be fine if you worked hard enough, made smart decisions and were ahead of the curve, but previous generations had it much easier.
You’ve got to play the hand you’re dealt, but we can still have some sympathy and reserve judgment at an individual level. Not everyone is a lazy couch potato. #note1qhf…u8hl

It's all good, we had a really good,much needed laugh over it. I love spicy and sweet, this was not one of those times. It was worse because it was a beautiful muffin. 🫂

It has been a wild week, spent Tuesday in the ER with my mom who was having shortness of breath (she got a fun ambulance ride). We find out that she's in Afib with a rapid heart rate. Lots of tests, needle sticks, and a reaction to one of the meds later, she's admitted and moved to a room at 10 pm. Up Wednesday, get kid to school, get to hospital and find out that they want to do a cardioversion to zap her back to normal rhythm. Ok, cool, lets do more tests, huh this valve isn't quite right, we'll put a camera down her throat tomorrow to check for blood clots tomorrow and zap her if all good. Today, alone with elderly parents, find out that the heart valve has crapped out and is going to need replacing...ok, cool...freaking out a little, I'm fine, can't lose it while alone with parents, stay calm keep mom's heart rate down...didn't happen. Get self together again, sibs show up we talk about the new things we just found out while they're doing the scope and finding a blood clot in her heart. New treatment plan, blood thinner and meds to regulate her heart rate until she can get her valve replaced. Hug your parents and tell them you love them if they're a part of your life, even routine things can be scary. Sorry for the novel, hugs to you all!
I'm sorry it wasn't a pleasant experience. having to be in a hospital, as a patient or a supporter of the patient is bad enough, it sucks that they overlooked the food. I was thinking about how some of the local foods from the Mexican community mixes sweet with spice and how i’ve enjoyed it, when i read the initial post.

Voltar a estes momentos nos estimulam a buscar mais medalhas.
Vivemos em provas nesta vida (há quem não acredite ou as desdenhem mas é isto que acontece a todo momento.Umas provas são fáceis de vencermos e conquistamos a medalha sem muito esforço; outras, precisamos suar muito, nos esforçarmos além do que julgamos ser nossos limites para podermos alcançar o pódium.

Engano teu: sempre haverá alguma coisa para orientar novas conquistas baseado no esforço despendido em outras condições.
Abra teu armário de roupas: quantas memórias guardadas eu cada um dos cabides. Como as escolheste? Qual o objetivo da compra? Custou muito? Compraste a prazo porque não tinhas dinheiro para pagar à vista? Veja que tudo isto pode ter sido uma medalha de ouro que você escondeu de si mesmo.

A bit of a wild ride but I’ll try to explain…
The day Brazil banned X, I came to nostr. My favorite AI engineer content builds from Brazil.
My legacy socials have been shadow banned for years (roughly 2021). I’ve largely stepped away from the online world… but recently revived some socials to help friends out with their content. They are athletes, not computer whizzes. We mostly live in the dirt. Off grid as possible.
Motorcycle racing is a difficult industry and it’s costly… so when I arrived at nostr I immediately fell back in love with IoV. I used to contribute daily to projects like nostr. In fact, we used to have something like zaps on another platform but it got banned due to the regulatory crackdown of us in 2020. We were suddenly a “bank” and that was confusing when it came to KYC on centralized platforms. Weitse Wind is an incredible mouthpiece for kindness in this space and he waded us through an absolute mess. I’ve had great mentors. I owe them a lot.
Whenever I build a platform, I imagine it as a service to others bc I genuinely try to live by a service to others mindset. Hence open source projects
So, I follow a prototype to scale model… this npub is an outlier.
I started nostr from a computer but as I looked at the source I got scared for onboarding my friends and family. We’re still trying to digest 2FA in that world.
So I created a proof-of-concept… I didn’t realize it would scale this quickly.
I onboarded as though I know nothing about encryption. so I used my real face and a lot of other really real details. Also, some not real because I knew I was in a pit of vipers. We all are, on the internet, always.
I literally pasted my keys to a word doc… I built this as sloppy as I know my loved ones would. And then I downloaded the apps to my phone. And along the way tried to explain what was happening… I didn’t touch any code and I only changed a relay once, but I’m pretty sure at one point my real human IP was banned.
And here we are… multiple people have control of my account. You all have no way of knowing which signed events are actually a match to my face. You’ve witnessed both the burning of my books and a witch hunt in real time. And all of this data is stamped in history as though it is me. At the “block” level.
Proof-of-concepts are helpful because they give us visuals and immersive experience. Measure twice, cut once.
My next profile will be me in full authenticity, but those keys will be secured with biometrics.

One of the really awesome things about Ukraine is there's a strong libertarian feel to it. If you're not harming anyone else, people tend to let you do what you want with little red tape.
Case in point: two different businesses were able to do rope jumping from this pedestrian bridge in the middle of Kyiv. They're doing it out in the open, no permits, right in front of soldiers in a defensive post guarding the bridge.
Another example is the Urbex tours a few companies run. I'm not sure how much is going on during the full scale war. But just prior I was able to go on one, paid, tour through cold war era bunkers and tunnels all around Kyiv. The guy running it didn't have any formal permits or anything. Though I suspect that one isn't possible anymore, because those bunkers are probably getting used by the military again...
Of course, buying and selling Bitcoin is easy to do here without any AML/KYC. Currency exchange in general is easy to do everywhere, without any AML/KYC or forms to fill.

I sit down with LNbits founder Ben Arc for a wide ranging and fascinating conversation about political philosophy, Nostr, and the future of FOSS/AI. This was a treat to record and I hope you enjoy! Here's a full sample of what we discussed:
- Ben’s left libertarian / anarchist lens on Bitcoin - the ultimate goal is liberty
- Stateless socialism, Marx, and Adam Smith
- Open protocols like Bitcoin / Nostr and public key cryptography replacing functions of the state
- Pierre-Joseph Proudhon: “Property is theft, property is liberty”
- Soulful vs. soul-less capital
- “The Adam Smith Invisible Bitch Slap” - Ben’s synthesis of left anarchism and Austrian/ancap thought. Open protocols, public key cryptography, FOSS create new more efficient commons in which private capital can participate. But if capital tries to co-opt the commons, it gets the Adam Smith invisible hand bitch slap (see the big blockers from Segwit2x). This creates the playing field for an actual free market
- Collaboration vs extraction - key is aligning incentives so both parties win and grow the pie
- “Value waterfalls and the remix economy”- Max’s idea of how BTC and open source protocols will evolve - similar to Stemstr. Both parties win when they collaborate are incentivized to share the same stream of files which get remixed and create thicker value waterfalls or a bigger pie for all
- Peter Kropotkin and Mutual Aid - rereading Darwin for mutual aid as a driving factor in evolution
- Karma and evolution: 1) nothing is permanent; everything is in flow; everything is relative - one order lower of complexity sees only itself + information 2) karma may be the ultimate driver/law of evolution - a system evolves in its totality toward more mutual aid and complexity
- Hegel and the Master-Slave Dialectic - exploitation requires dehumanization making both parties less in touch with reality and happy; in order for them to both be free they need to become peers. The ultimate goal is more liberation/liberty
- P2P peer relationships are the best healthiest relationships: what we see in Bitcoin and open networks
- John Nash: non oppressive mind space is healthiest - Mind on Strike: giving more people mind space allows their minds to explore and explode open; libertarianism comes from liberation and the need for some equality for this to happen.

- http://Nostr.com is selling dope NIP-05 verifiers
- LNbits released a Nostr signing device for identity management
- Nostr is best of both worlds online - create smaller forum like communities while still riding on a global network effect
- “A better Internet is possible” - we’re not at the end of history
- FOSS, nostr, and bitcoin are viruses which infect the system: Just like the major financial institutions with Bitcoin, eventually Twitter will plug into Nostr
- Monopoly of the commons is the future; FOSS eventually swallows all (see Switzerland recently requiring the government to use FOSS)
- AI brings the age of disposable software at least at the level of building extensions
- The need for more Bitcoin and Nostr tooling in Python for the AI community so they can easily bring identity and payments / value transfer to the agents
- Max’s thesis: evolution of digital life forms : open source models will evolve into swarms of agents with value - see http://hivemind.vc/ai
- The importance of reputation in Nostr: Web of Trust as a theoretical solution; open timestamps with payment to go higher up a merkle tree; AI agent as dvm for calculating trust
- Ben is more wary of AI long term and thinks it will be more monolithic than swarm-like; perhaps it becomes a benign dictator that could kill us or just give us what we need to be happy; could be capitalism as we know it eating itself and requiring a new system?
- How the Light Gets In: philosophy festival (part of haybook festival): open AI guy calling the god AI Super Gaia
- Max’s idea on AI: there will be always trade-offs resulting in different forms of intelligence
