That is a useful and eternal truth, it’s just a very small part of what Jesus taught.
He taught us who created the universe and why. He taught us our place in it. He taught us that people are broken and need help from outside to be able to live into our purpose.
He taught us about God’s nature. That He is a person and yet a community in Himself. A being who desires relationship with us.
He taught us that without sanctification we cannot stand to be in the presence of the divine, it will destroy us.
He taught us there’s a place separate from here that is Heaven and it yearns to be joined with Earth but it’s not yet time.
He taught us there’s a separate place from here that is Hell which keeps evil out of Heaven.
He taught us that God will go to any lengths to save us, even sacrificing His own child.
Yes Jesus taught us that it’s important to seek the divine, and that in work and suffering there is much to learn and connection to make. Jesus did cultivate His mind through meditation and other practices in common with Buddha.
His teachings are just so much bigger in scope, and narrower in their prescriptions about what is a good life. (Even though I believe many Christians have too narrow a definition of a good life)
I’d love to learn more about Buddhism from your perspective, I just don’t think Jesus and Buddha teachings are the same.

I hear this a lot and I could see why people think that. Some of the practices and wisdom overlap.: (stillness, humility, kindness, detachment from possessions, etc)
But Christianity’s cosmology and call on a person’s life is not inwardly focused (where there is more overlap with Buddhism).
The call is to bring heaven to earth: to speak truth, to oppose evil, to fix poverty, to heal the sick, to bring people hope they lost a long time ago, to teach people about the God made human in Jesus who did the work to make it all possible.
I believe there is goodness is Buddhism but I don’t think Jesus and Buddha would have haven’t along philosophically on what mattered most to each of them.

If we were to redo or add to the US constitution in a re-founding of the US I’d want to add
1. Separation of currency and state
2. Only citizens may donate to political causes and there’s an annual limit (no corporations, no NGOs)
3. Clarify that the right to bear arms includes all that goes into warfare (artillery, fighter jets, cargo planes, fuel, all the way down)
4. The buffet amendment: if deficits go over a certain percent of domestic production sitting congress people cannot be re-elected
One of the greatest tricks played by the state over the last hundred or so years is scoping the second amendment to just guns and “personal defense” the real goal should be that there’s more privately held capacity for war than publicly held capacity for war.

Yesterday my wife and I were reading Isaiah 65 as part of our Easter practice and it’s a description of heaven.
It’s where that famous verses about “lions will eat straw”and “wolves and lambs will eat together” come from.
This passage also talks about how living 100 years will be just the beginning for you. And that death and disease will be no more.
But something that struck me anew this year was this long description about how people won’t labor in vain, that they will work and get to keep the fruits of their labor.
According to God: theft is up there with death and disease as the great injustices of the human condition.
I believe you can boil the call of every Christian’s life is to help bring Heaven to Earth. It’s important to work on things that bring Heaven closer, it’s the only worthwhile goal to labor for in this life.
Bitcoin is not the savior, but Bitcoin feels aligned with bringing Heaven to Earth.
It’s takes power away from corrupt people and reduces the theft perpetrated by those people.
I’m glad to be working on something every day that feels aligned with my values and could help all people live better lives.

Fucking hell.
Once again Stripe shows why we need Bitcoin.
I’ve launched a small tool that folks can use and I charge based on usage.
But Stripe in their infinite wisdom has deemed my Stripe account suspicious so they’ve blocked the ability to send my revenue to myself.
I thought to myself “that’s fine, no one has paid yet, it’s still early”
Come to find out today that everyone that’s tried to pay has been blocked from doing so…. Because my account was deemed suspicious.
Sigh.
I thought my launch was off to a rocky start… Nope! I was just kneecapped by fiat gatekeepers.
Fiat is hell.

I’ve done some work for a few YouTubers recently and they told me that Nostr is cool but without a large enough audience the “keep more of your income” thing isnt a winning argument. And they’re barely scraping by as is with YouTube constantly changing their algorithm.
And all the other great things about Nostr require there to be a lot of content (algo choice, zaps, never goes down, censorship resistance, etc)
It’s definitely a chicken and egg problem.
I think the only way out is apps that can ONLY be built on Nostr that will thrive. Things that are impossible for X or Insta or YouTube to do.
That can be a bigger base audience than just people who care about freedom tech. And can attract increasing number of folks to other stuff

Hell yeah this is great way to power a wallet business. What’s the simplest way to just accept payment to a lightning address? Is it as simple as creating a lightning invoice but hardcode the destination to my corporate wallet?
Is there any way in Bitvora to get observe payments so I can get a webhook when an invoice is paid (so I can add credits to the account that just paid)

Civilisation is whatever reduces violence between humans.
Conquest and theft are the base way to resolve conflicts between humans, and any system we put into place that reduces that is an improvement.
Monarchy, theocracy, communism were all innovations that reduced violence for a time but each had a ceiling in its effectiveness because centralized power always leads to corruption.
Capitalism is one of the most civilizing forces imaginable. Pushing violent conflict for scarce resources into the realm of competition in business.
Democracy pushes political violence into the realm of campaigns and strategic caucusing.
These two systems together have no upper limit on how many people they can help, but they backslide when the money is broken.
Both need Bitcoin to continue civilising the world and spreading prosperity and freedom throughout the world.
Glad to know the people of Nostr because yall are soldiers that fight for fairness, freedom, and human flourishing. Every day I see something that makes the future seem brighter.

I think they would. They’d have less influence and fewer of their products would be profitable, but a Bitcoin future likely involves Bitcoin banks.

Man i can’t wait for a Bitcoin future.
I’m in Argentina and I can’t withdraw money from an ATM using my US debit card without a 25% fee but I can’t go to a money changing place and send Bitcoin to get local money. And I can’t find any working Bitcoin ATMs.
This is such a stupid problem.
There would be serious money in being one of those folks in the park who does money changing but with Bitcoin. Just hold pesos in cash and accept lightning or on chain payments. You could orange pill a ton of folks and save everyone a ton of money. Way more accessible than requiring people to bring US dollars in cash.
If you know anyone doing this let me know! I want to use their services.

Just arrived in Buenos Aires, it’s a beautiful city and the people are very friendly (even when I attempt my broken Spanish 😅)
Does anyone have advice on how to pay with Bitcoin or how to exchange Bitcoin for pesos to spend locally? It’s easy to be eaten alive by exchange fees out here.

There’s so much hate in your post I’m not sure what you’re actually saying.
Happy to debate if that’s something you’re open to. I often change my mind when presented with good arguments.
I’m hopefully for a fully decentralized Bitcoin future but I’m also realistic I haven’t seen good solutions to doing everyone on chain and cheaply without compromising something critical about Bitcoin.
If we get to a future as I mentioned in my original post things are better than today and can evolve forward to an ideal future when the right solution comes together

It makes sense to me that lightning becomes a decentralised version of ACH but for bigger payments or settling between bigger players (the future of interbank transfers).
While Cashu is used for all the day to day spending of everyday people.
Then on-chain is mostly for governments, rebels, wealthy folks, and banks.

On the bright side, Bitcoin having a relatively stable price means it’s actually a good store of value…
The best stores of value are stable with upside so I’d say Bitcoin is maturing into that role. Which means more folks with lower risk profiles will eventually pile in.
Just seems like day to day we’re in that old adage of “a watched pot never boils” but progress is being made on all fronts.

I think it’s ok that there aren’t a ton of VCs investing yet. It’s not the role of investors to donate money.
It’s also not the role of protocols to be profitable.
One of the great side effects of capitalism is that you get talented, smart people who get wealthy and can afford to donate when a technology is too young to be profitable.
That means a lot of folks are contributing without being supported enough to do it full time. This isn’t ideal but it does force contractors to be ruthless with their time. Only working on what is critical in their estimation.
From my understanding of history we are on the blessed timeline, and things seem to be happening in the right timing to build something truly great.
Once we can build profitable businesses on top of the unique capabilities of Nostr THEN we will see investment rolling in.
I have every faith Nostr will continue its rapid improvement and we will, in time, eat Big Tech’s lunch.

Depends on what you truly want from social media.
If your goal is connecting with people then leaving wouldn’t improve your health unless your people aren’t here/responding.
If you find your true motivation is validation from other people responding to you. Then a full detox may actually be healthy.
There are many other motivations too.
But it seems like you are saying you’re not getting what you want out of social media and I hope that changes for you. 🫂

Totally but we have to share relays in order to see each others’ content. Are there any safe jurisdictions that we can host in?
Even then is a VPN or access via Tor the only way to access it if our native country starts trying to block access to relays to take them down?
