Really enjoying the concept of using yaml config files with my #rstats scripts (an idea I took from my r targets pipelines), instead of hardcoding inputs in the script itself, or having inputs and params as command line variables. Makes it easy to move between projects, keeps a record of what was used etc. happy days! 😀

haha that's because Dan thinks the answer to all life's problems is {targets}. Whilst I admit, I do use it regularly, and it has solved a lot, it's not very suited in this situation when hacking away at some early development code that isn't suited yet to wrapping into a function and our source file.

Anyone know why pasting multi-line R code into the terminal suddenly breaks? A long loop won’t paste/execute cleanly, I just end up stuck with a trailing +. If I paste it in smaller chunks it works fine. Any fix for this?

Does anyone use #duckdb as a database for #genomic sequence data, i.e. sample metadata, fastq & vcf file paths etc. and have it sit in a s3 bucket or ftp server to then query from, both within cloud compute and from local compute?

ohhh I think that might have done it 👍 thanks heaps! brightness & contrast adjustments + dither + purple colour + colour scheme adjustment (using https://farbenfroh.io) + resize. I'm sure there is a more direct way, but it worked 😀 this tiled as a wallpaper is brilliant.

So I’ve resettled on my final wallpaper - this small #rstats hex sticker collage as your desktop #wallpaper (with tile to fit) the effect is amazing 🤩 Bit of colour filtering to match your style and it’s even better.
But… I can’t remember how I created the final purple version with the pixelated blended colour effect, from the original (external source) faded blue version.
Does anyone know what filters in #GIMP I could apply to achieve this again with another image.

Probably should have known this earlier, but in #rstats you can pipe |> into View(), allowing you to interactively view the output of a function or series of dplyr manipulations in the VSCode or RStudio GUI viewer without having to save to an object first.

What’s your #rstats #ROrigin story? I started my PhD in 2011 and initially was using Excel macros 😱 to perform optimal genetic combination selection, taking over all the office PCs at night for pseudo parallel processing. Within a few months I attended an internal 1day quantitative breeding course which used R. I was immediately hooked 🤩 everything felt so natural and I rewrote all my analyses the next day in R. 2years later I successfully submitted my first pkg to CRAN, & the rest is history 🥳

Jealous! all this talk of native Linux setups. I am still unfortunately too reliant on the MS Office suite daily, particularly around work collaboration, that I have never been able to to successful last on a native Linux system for work. WSL is my compromise.
