but I don't believe in almost any of the drivel. My method is really simple though: I just look at incentives and I try to understand the science as whole, and not some small exception here and there which is supposedly proving things completely differently.
Why? Because I've seen the drivel that comes from focusing on single points and then 'explaining' everything else based upon it - even though other evidence dismisses it.
I think we have lost common sense in the sense that we look at one tree and claim it is the forest. I see this pattern everywhere I turn. Most things can be explained by simply using incentives as a vector pointing towards the truth.
Let me give you an example:
Remember Elon's supposed Hitler salute?
I do. I remember how bonkers everyone went and how 100% convicted a lot of them were that he indeed did a Hitler salute.
And I remember me posing a single question to a bunch of them:
Ok. Let's say you're right. Why? Why did he do it?
What profit would he have from doing this Hitler salute in front of cameras, knowing that the whole wide world would immediately attack him, people would run campaigns against him and his companies would suffer as a result?
Why would he, even if he was some kind of secret nazi, do this?
I never got an answer to this simple question. Not one. Everyone 'answered' by giving me innuendos, suppositions, some pointing out what he said someplace else which like totally proves and so on and on and on.
What is more likely, that his 'secret' nazism had to be 'proved' on a world stage for some unknown imaginary reason OR... that he's simply sometimes socially awkward weird genious guy?
I'd say this last option .. overwhelmingly puts the first one behind.
But... you see.. people still want to believe they're right. And they will seek ANY tree they can find to 'prove' that the whole forest is that tree. This simple act costed his company billions and this simple act costed him socially A LOT! I conclude.. there was absolutely no incentives for him to do it so... when he did it, he didn't even remotely see as anything to do with nacism - even though it looked so from our eyes. This exact thing happened to me today when somebody claimed my symbol here was 'nazi symbol' and therefore I was a nazi myself. And as soon as he said it.. I looked at the symbol.. and I saw the similarities that I never once before thought about. Not once! And as soon as I saw it, it ruined it for me - I had to remove it!
Now to make things even more disgusting: the symbol I was using was actually a symbol known for 1000s of years (and no, not swastika! I would understand if it was that), the same symbol drawn differently existed from Pythagoras, appeared in DaVinci's famous drawing and was one of the main symbols of the Renaissance. But... as soon as the lunatic revolutionary guy pointed at it and saw a nazi symbol, I saw it now as well! It looked similar to one of those symbols on WW2 tanks! But in reality .. it was a famous Square and Circle symbol of unification of Man and God.
See how horrible that actually is?
From the most holy symbol... right into the dirt with nazis... with one click!
And I bet that if I ask the guy now, he would still think I'm actually a nazi! It's now fixed in his mind.. He doesn't know history, but he learned about 20th century nazi symbolism and because he's probably a revolutionary he sees those everywhere.
So I had to remove it from my profile. The funny thing is.. I will now have to replace it with something else and I'll have to be careful not to make the same innocent mistake again. I'll have to intentionally dumb it down so I won't be seen as a fcking Nazi by ignorant millennials online! Nevermind by grandfather fight the actual nazis .. all that doesn't matter. What matters is the guy saw 'similarities' and that was proof enough for him.
And you know what really hit me here more than this? The realisation, that if there's one such guy, there's probably a lot more who just didn't say anything! They simply assumed I was a nazi because their who symbolic imagery in the head is from fcking Hollywood movies and nowhere else! It's fucking sad, man! It's really really sad!
But it is a good example of my point here is with the tree and the forest isn't it?
I could just call him MSM shill for it, but I bet he hates the media too and thinks media is idk.. 'nazi' or something. Once you start focusing on something, everything else starts to look like it and nobody, least me, will ever convince that guy he's not just utterly wrong, but he did himself a great disservice by destroying what could have been a glorious symbol of perfection, of union with God, of Samadhi, of Nirvana, of Heaven or of accomplishing every human's ultimate goal - self-realisation .. into the most disgusting thing ever.
Now that my friend.. is a real psyop: that we do this to ourselves! Completely on our own. And I can't even blame those Hollywood movies for it - it's the ignorance on one hand and the 100% sureness in the other that made this happen to him.
And in effect to me now - for I'll now have to change everything to look 'appropriate' to the sensibilities of a 2020s ignorant chil's mind. Otherwise.. I'm just a 'nazi'...
Fucking sad realisation isn't it?

SO before I change it, for people out there.. with a bit of brain cells left... who are still willing to learn a thing or two and not just react like a mindless trigger-warning machine, this is what the meaning of my symbol actually stands for:
The Circle Squared is a symbol of human attempt towards perfection. It's an old alchemical symbol, you can see it in Pythagora's PI ffs! That is the point of PI - it is a 'holy' number because it 'unites' the supposedly nu-unitable: the Square and the Circle!
You see in those times math wasn't separated from philosophy - math WAS philosophy because math was explaining our existance, our world, our connection to the Inner self - aka Creator aka 'God' if you want.
And that is what those symbols rtepresent: Circle is universe around us - because it's 'infinite' ever extending in 'circle'. The Square represnts the human. Why? Because it has 4 corners, that is 4 parts. And those 4 corners represent the 4 Elements from which everything is made from. They are now atomic elements, they are 'elements' in the more sensual sense. From the gross matter to the most spiritual one they go as: Earth (the gross matter), Air (the mind, the rationality), Water (emotions, fluidity) and finally Fire (which burns in highest spirtual sense). These 4 elements, this human of 4 elements is represented by the Square. And the state of perfection, a union with God, is the moment when the whole human (Square) is united with the universe ( Circle ) - Circle Squared.
Get it?
It's a profound deep symbol of final unification. It's what is called by different names as: Samadhi, Nirvana, Union with God, Union with Daemon, the Supreme Sphere.
In popular fiction you could just call it the transcendent state of 'Heaven'.
*THAT* is Circle Squared.
The symbol of human perfection - for each and everyone of us! The symbol serves as a direction, path towards meaning - the ultimate meaning we all seek for.

If you search around, you'll find books that deal with just this subject throughout history and you will even find different representations of the same symbol in very diffirent cultures around the world. Why? Because that is one thing that unites us all!
Now think of the depraved nature of today's psychotic trigger-warning crowd who just dismisses all of this and ballparks it into... "naaaaziiiiis!". It's about as close as me ballparking you with a random dog I saw on the street thge other day. "Well.. good enough for me! Now be a dog!"
It's the most disgusting thing you can do to somebody. Because we all know what 'nazis' represent. We all know what meaning that has for the crowds out there. We know the power that the word has. And we just called the most universal symbol of humankind one of the worst things imaginable.
The nonchalant attitude here is also pretty sad.
So ... ok.. you win. I'll now replace the holiest of holy symbols because clearly.. there's a bunch of people out there so ignorant that they are willing to shit on the one thing that unites us all, just to ... what? 'win' in an online conversation ? or... what was the point anyway?
A small irritation at the existence of some facts so lashing out and burning it all down is 'fair' ?
I am really sad though... I would have never compared the two symbols.. and now.. it's ruined.

I don't understand why Americans keep avoiding jury duty.. It's what makes your world free ffs! We don't have that here in that form. You guys have something precious and you don't even care... One would be tempted to say you guys are ... priveliged (being Americans) to such a degree you don't even realize what's in front of you and that it is rare and can be very temporary. No wonder so many now literally squeek about makin socialism a thing there - because you never fucking expirenced it and can just fanatasize the uttmost idiotic ideals in your heads without actually expirencing the conseqences of it. What worries me is that these games you guys like to LARP with will one day reach the numbers of ignorants high enough that you can actually get what those ignorants desire... And by then.. it's too late. It usually takes about next 50 years to get rid of it - which in practie means a lifetime. I know because my parents lived half of their lives in it and I was forced to dabble in it in my Jugoslavian childhood. It of course ended in civil war. As usual. But before that a lifetime of a whole generation was stolen from them - because it was fun LARPing about stupid ideals and revolutions in people's heads.
I can't speak for you guys, but if I were you, I'd make damn sure that it never comes to that and I'd actually teach my children about the realities and experences in commy times. Not the bullshit story that keeps appearing on TV from various stunningly ignorant activists these days.
In short: Enjoy your freedoms and be aware it is temporary if you don't make damn sure that it stays that way. Jury duty is not just a right - it guarantees you a stunning amount of freedom compared to the rest of the world.

I can relate - on a smaller scale. I'm trying to fix what I see as a hole in desktop nostr, something I've been personally missing since I don't like to have my phone on all the time.
I want something that I can use for actual daily reading of articles and regular article posting, while also having other basic stuff implemented (like a connected wallet or background podcast playing) so I don't have to keepconstantly switching here and there and everywhere for them. I need basic zaping, basic podcast playing and fast swiotching between notes and thread-views and half the stuff is done already.
If one day I manage to also fix so I on't have to keepseeing obvioius "America bad m'kay" propaganda then I'll be a happy camper. Everything after that.... will just be a happiness bonus :)

oh man.. If you haven't tried LSD yet and MDMA was so profound for you, you'll be getting one deep ride there! Just be sure to have good conditions around - it is a must there and can make a difference between a truly spiritual experience you'll never forget in your entire life vs horrible chaotic mind-frenzy of the worst kind. In my case it was so profound I kept doing it every month for years, doing everything from meditation and pranayama techniques (because you 'get' the actual effects in real-time - if you have basic foundations covered of course...) to every possible raja yoga practice. It works incredibly well when you start understanding how it actually works. My wildest experiences were in natural caves or top of the hills during night-time, with very limited number of friends who were also well versed in it. IMHO it's by far the greatest drug ever conceived but also unfortunately, not for everyone (especially nowadays that so many have psychological problems). It's not a 'good-feel' drug, though it can feel great sometimes. It's more a sort of experiential soul-searching tool that can allow you to see the deepest hells and highest havens hidden in the core of what old Egyptians called 'our star' (the center of our being/soul that can for the lack of better words only be described as 'holy'). I could go on and on about this one for months, so let me just say this: unimaginable unforgettable true experience that, if properly handled allows humans to truly meet themselves.
One final note: the trip is long and should be taken as such by default, because that time is needed for us to absorb everything and then slowly... sloooowly come down to earth. Don't take downers to 'come-down' if at all possible. Go through it instead even if it might not feel always 'nice'. And don't fall for the idea that you can't fall asleep or something. Use that time instead because it's fucking precious. And once more.. don't do it just by the way. That is by far the most important - be prepared and have a lot of time at your disposal. You don't want finding yourself looking at a watch or something because it will fuck you up if you do.

Ok.. I believe I have solved the problem when user needs to set wrystr to extremely large fonts. The top badges all stay in their places, the bottom left user's badge is there and the resizing of the application window works nicely.
The funny thing is, I missed this problem entirely because I tested the large fonts only on Omarchy at the beginning. Like an idiot I didn't connect in my head the fact that Omarchy's window manager (Hyprland) just can't have this particular resizing problem !

one of the few sane takes I've seen recently on social media. I'm gonna add why I think the BRICS (because it's always not being just Russia, but Iran and China as well) propaganda works so well: It's really simple: the bots are exploiting our significantly higher free speech while clamping down on their own criticism within those countries. It's really easy to do this when you can stop your own citizens from criticizing. I remember this from Communist Yugoslavia and I've been trying to explain people how obvious it is and practically nobody understands that they are tapdancing for the exact enemy that wants to destroy them. Look how nice and clean Moscow looks! Well.. so did fucking Belgrade in Yugoslavia and so is Pyongyang in North Korea ffs! All the big cites have always been monuments to dictators. "Look how united are Russians!" screams a Western man not knowing a Russian can't say much else but to praise the government. Everyone else is locked up already. This is btw why we have Westerners demonstrating with fcking pictures of a dead Iranian dictator who just a month ago killed 35000 of their own citizens, while Iranians are literally DJing on the roofs of their houses while the bombs and rockets are crashing IRGC. They get it. We don't. We can't understand the difference between the 'one-opinion state' (aka only one opinion allowed) and what we have here. Here we have whole media centres operating exclusively for propaganda of non-western bullshittery. And it doesn't even matter what kind as long as it sees the West as 'evil'. When I realized this to be an actual fact I decided for myself that I'm gonna become a radically self-interested person, by which I mean I'm gonna err on the side of Western ideals because, well.. In my Linux and Windows testing I found that the search not being of sufficient quality was what bothered me the most in wrystr.
So later today I'm gonna push out huge improvements to it.
I also finally added 'followings' to the application and that will be out in the next release as well.
After that I'm gonna start polishing the article writing and the general feel for writing longer notes - even in threading view.
I'd be interested in suggestions as well because for sure I am missing something obvious

More polishing is coming down the line soon.
For now I've been building it on Linux and testing it on Linux and on Windows as much as I can (I don't own Mac computers of any kind so I can't do it, but the release is always for Macs as well).
I'm gonna keep posting new updates and soon I'm gonna publish a website with as much newbie onboarding material as I feel fitting (and not too intimidating at the same time). Videos are coming as well when I finally push out the 1.0 beta.

the quality is definitely not up in most cases. It *can* be theoretically up but practically it's not. At least not yet. I see it in my own work how easily it can fck things up and not care or just glance over something that is actually important but not considered so by LLM. For a whole day I've also been circling around nostr connection issues in my wrystr desktop client and he kept glancing over the problem because it would not show up all the time. As if a quarter of user's time having a bad expirence doesn't really matter when it generally works most of the time. So imho gigi is totally correct: idea to basic reality is awesome, but quality is more akin to me attempting to build a snad castle: you will know it's supposed to be a castle, but you just don't want be as a friend from then on :)

Brasil is the first whos actually already done it. Most companies are floored to their arses and some simply declared that using theirnoperating system is now not allowed in Brasil. Declarations of this kind will be one way to do it if you also dont have developers or a company there

Of course Apple and Microsoft...they will just comply and then have a database access to children and evryone else. Think what kind of shithole this opens up... Some ofnthese laws demand an API that will have a central database! agucking goldmine gor data brokers, not to mention hackers and repressive regimes like Russia or Iran or fucking China. This will give them ideas far beyond the already present and beyond China firewall and Russian whitelists

Just so we don't misunderstand each other: I remember how these things looked like in Jugoslavia when communist regime was still in power. I remember the 'press' at that time and how incredibly easy the western media was duped by the Yu regime again and again. You see... one... is not like the other. Not even remotely. And the western mind can't fathom the world where everyone is only allowed to say one thing so they just take it as 'another view', just like for example Fox News would have another view from CNN. But this is completely wrong way of looking at the press in repressive dictatorships like Iran or Jugoslavia or even Russia today. Every single 'journalist' in Iran knows he could be killed if he says the wrong (aka as Iran not eternally winning) thing. He knows he and his family can be tortured he knows he is constantly watched by the regime fanatics - so even if for some reason he isn't one of them, he will say their words and only their words.
And that makes everything the press says there worthless - and most of the people ion Iran know that very well. Again... I remember clearly how we, in Jugoslavia knew it at the time - we just weren't allowed to say it.
And this is the paradigm they operate under and why "this is just the opposing view" isn't correct. It's just a western mind who can't grasp the situation like that because 99% of us here never experienced anything even remotely like it. We constantly shit on our press -as we should-, we call it propaganda -as we should- but one... is not even remotely like the other.
Not even in the same universe.

oh it can! It totally can. I don't think it will any time soon though.
I should add that personally I don't have any of their shares - I just stack sats myself. But if I lived in USA, I'd most likely have their shares..
As for your last question.. I can guess here (because I'm not him and can't say what is hype and what is true), and I'd say it's very similar to many similar companies which are doing the same, but with dollars and thus much higher long-term risk (in my judgment).
But as I said.. I'd be guessing about what he really thinks here.
He's however very good at explaining it himself in one of the recent podcast episodes with Natalie Brunell. I'd link it here but don't have it my disposal on my desktop. It's on Fountain.

some kind of digital id, linked with time. Each person will only be able to prove that he's alive by a a uniqu signiture and a timestamp in combo. Anmd the digital ID will have to be linked to a person being alive and stop working as soon as a person dies. In short... we're gonna have to beg Elon to put a chip into our brain so we'll be able to prove we're alive :)

It's not a problem for Linux as a concept itself. The problem is with legal represneatons of it.
For example let's say you are providing a distrubution (like Ubuntu) or seeling a computer with Linux preinstalled. Then you are liable! Also.. think of all the devices that have linux installed... including Android phones.. ALL of them which have any legal represantion in California (for now! But also New York for example) are liable. BSD... is liable OPen BSD... is well.. BERKELY (aka California) based. This of course means that Chinese distros or Russian distros... will as usual be able to continue operating while the very best won't be or they will have to pay a fine. See... we're not just talkign abouit coding from my garage or something. We're talking legal entitites.
As for Linux being decentralized... you don't have to guess... There's a copy of code avaible on Github and lesewhere.... Just check the forks and you'll see it's decentralized' :) That doesn't mean thought that kernel isn't very central-developed since Linux was born! Kernel is to this day under watchful eye of Linux Torwalds himself + the core kernel developers (drivers specialists, graphics specialists...etc etc etc).
It's a whole universe here, man!
But distros... the big distros are projects that are usually incorporated - that's the whole point! That they can do that using the same kernel freely available. But even if kernel remains as-is, your final Ubuntu distro will either have to follow to law or pay something like 20k per installed Ubuntu machine! Do you understand the problem now?
It's not just 'decetralized' or not... It's practical aplication in real world. Your computer is physical... and if you run linux on it, you're running a distro, a flavor of linux. And if that distro is any of the popular distros then it's like 95% that there's at least an organisation of some kind behind it because it takes A LOT to make a distribution that actually works well as daily desktop driver.

I don't think I understand your first paragraph. What do you mean by ' bitcoins the original open version'? Bitcoin is still open source .
As for the second question: no. Linux is not challenged by google. Its development is influenced through The Linux foundation and not just by Goggle, but also by IBM, Apple, even Valve and many others , but not its status as open source project. That is safe. As for Android... Not great, yes. But linux will stay open. It has nothing to do with it. Think of it as screws you use when you build a table. Table can be as proprioatery as you want, but the screws are still 'open'.
What is imho more problemaic is the new laws in Califronia and elsewhere which attempt to control how the operating system starts and want it to be able to run only when you prove you're of full age. This is direct meddling into projects and the only resuzlt of these laws is that smaller developers and smaller projects can't ever compete because the burden on them is too heavy compared to a burden to a large company. I bet these laws are the results of bullshitters in politics who are now competing who is more 'child-friendly' becaue they don't wanna look like they are Epstein connected in any way. It's a classic result of paranoia we allowed to have come from the Epstein files and the result is fcking things up for everybody just to pretend a poltician or party cares. THAT.. is a real proiblem and it's going on RIGHT NOW! And instead of us all organizing and smashing these stzupidites down we're still obsessed with counting completely out of context names in Epstein files and competing which side has a smaller number. It's like we're all children who were thrown a flask of milk and now we're drinking from it and accusing each other and applauding every stupid 'bold solution' like the one mentioned.
See... these people in politicsa are complete idiots in regards to software and open source and they have no idea what they are actually doing which is why they are faaaaar more dnagerous than even Google''s AOSP enshitification.
We here on Nostr disagree about everything and that's ok, but we should really agree about this one and take some organised acton while these laws can still be stopped. In USA there's now 3 states doing it, reporterdly another 17 are 'thinking about it'. Here in Europe... I can just imagine what kind of lunatic laws they'll try to implement.
Think about what meddling into code by politics acually means... It means that once we are forced to insert this, we will have ti insert other stuff down the road. It always starts like a 'good thing' .. 'think of the children!' bullshit because people fall for it. And 10 years later.. it's spyware because 'think of the children' expends by then.
IMHO this should be number one problem for us because it's happening right now.
At least that's how I see it.

basic core philosophy is actually from UNIX. The only real difference is that Linux is licenced as free and open source and can't be put back in a box, which happened to unix systems. But all the collaboration and camaraderie even the small programs with one task idea (so that your can pipe them one into another) all of it comes from Unix.

I'm betting on it being temporary. If the Islamic dictatorship in Iran fails and democracy or some kind of constitutional kingdom gets formed (like in UK) I'm betting things improving eeeenormously not just for Iranians but for us in Europe as well, not to mention the ever ignited-by-Iran's-funding-of-terrorism-and-chaos Middle East. And with Middle East finally reaching some semblance of sanity... the spice will flow. I mean.. the oil will flow :)
That's how I see it anyway. But yeah.. to reach that step we'll all go through a period of Iran's bullshitery and extortion and murdering of more innocent people on tankers and elsewhere. But at least... there's some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. And watching Iranians DJing from roofs while bombs are falling on IRGC and celebrating.. well... I have hope. one word... enshittification - well. sort of. Nostr is not immune to a form of it. Its just that instead one big company doing it, here there's 1000s of random ppl doing it. I'd also add that we're incredibly vulnerable to bullshitification as well - especially from bots from weird authoritarian countries moving and constantly shifting our own perception of reality through spamming lies and general chaotic bullshittery (make people angry at each other)
I for one would really like to solve the constant merciless CCP propaganda manufacturing consent here. I think this might be nostr's biggest problem .
We might not have the algorithm problem, but imho we do have enormous amounts of spamming lies problem. Because they clearly work. Turns out people are incredibly gullible, if you tell them they are actually 'uncovering the truth' or play on a similar type bullshit variety on the theme...
