I view it alike to Bitcoin.
With Bitcoin I hold my keys, it makes me immune to being debanked, but I wear the custody risk.
With Nostr I hold my keys, it makes me immune to being deplatformed, but I wear the custody risk.
Arguments like "What if my keys get compromised? There is no way to fix that. Therefore this protocol sucks" are as banal with Nostr as they are with Bitcoin.
Yes we should try to improve. Also "I've just discovered Bitcoin and I'm here to fix it" was a meme for a reason.

In fiat world it's hard to tell what is malinvestment and what is real technological acceleration.
You can look at anything and be forced to ask "fake or real?"
That situation sucks, and Bitcoin solves this.
But for AI, IMO, as a daily user, this is very very real. I suggest not to mid curve this one.

You're right it would be hard. There is no one company to go after, no one CEO in charge, and even if they attacked all companies and all CEOs of all clients and all relays, they still have no ability to prevent users from easily starting their own relays or clients and publishing to the network.
Hypothetically they could make it illegal for users to use it, just as they have made it illegal to access Twitter via a VPN. But it would be I think much harder for them to enforce as it would be hard for them to identify that you are a user – as you could be using any client and any relay, hosted anywhere.

Not my place to defend it as I don't understand how it would truly work. But, a proponent would say you're defining "authoritarian communism", whereas their anarchist communism would have no ruler, and rather people would collectively own their production and resources.
I can understand this on a micro scale e.g. a single family household that shares everything. I can also understand it on basis of some magic hypothetical future where there is so much abundance that ownership of anything ceases to yield any benefits.

If you use enough other relays your content will be persistent enough for now. Use Habla.news to post long form articles.
So in practice I recommend
1. Add lots of popular relays to your account
2. Sign in with your account on Habla and post your articles
3. At some later time you can sort out running your own relay too

Thanks! Can you give me any more info - Are you using any particular plugins? Is BTC setup as a currency so that it does forex? Is there a way to set up a "bank feed" from a wallet so that it appears as a bank account?
I have tried xero for this purpose and it's quite useless!

It's a type of AI or workflow that sits on top of Nostr. You engage with it, and it returns some kind of data. The acronym means Data Vending Machine.
In practice you could have any kind of request return any kind of response (like a DVM could use an AI to return some image or text, or translation), but what the OP is talking about here are DVMs that act as "algorithms" to return different types of event feeds.
A few of these I've used are like "show me the most popular posts by people I follow since I last logged in", or "show me global most zapped posts over the last 24 hours", etc.
It's very cool and useful that there will be a market for these algos, so you can really tailor your Nostr feed to what you like.

There are a number of good jurisdictions without personal tax, and often also without any reporting obligation. For a company or trust the privacy and low compliance cost is a major part of the appeal and part of the consideration!

True. When I first clicked this section I had yet to follow any, and so the screen showed only "feed empty". The first trick is to change to "global" feed to see all the dvms. The second trick is if you long press on one you like then you get a little partial menu with "follow" as an option, which adds it to you followed feed.

UI suggestion for Amethyst.
I always keep tabs to "All Follows" and so this always showed "Feed Empty". I didn't really know what it was, so never investigated further.
Today on a whim I changed "All Follows" to "Global" and was blown away.
I suggest that "Feed Empty" could have a mini prompt "See Global Feed".

I just discovered note discovery in Amethyst! Incredible.
I had been flipping across to primal to use their feed options since forever. This market approach is excellent. Anyone can launch one, and I can follow the ones I like best.

Well, have you ever got frustrated of having multiple accounts for social media? Your followers on one platform don't follow you everywhere and you need to create a new account and content and following for every platform? Well Nostr is social media except you get one account that you can use on YouTube, reddit, Twitter, Instagram, etc, and all your content, likes and followers come with you everywhere. The thing that blows my mind is the speed of build based on the methods and components. When you show just how quickly key functionality comes together, it's jaw dropping. I see the new release event thread functionality. I also see the svelte nostr components. I can only imagine how quickly you could bring together a simple social client using those things. One way to solve this may be with primary research. Having read the talk, editors are objecting to "censorship resistance" being stated in a way that it appears to be a claim that is unsubstantiated. The alternative would be to state it as e.g. "Nostr users choose Nostr because of its censorship resistance". To quickly create a survey of users for this purpose may help and is easy, give me a minute...

Well sir that's the classical argument for sure.
But I do also wonder if two tribes, each following a different moral value, were put against each other in a contest such that one tribe survives and the other does not, could it not be said (controlling for other variables) that their morals proved to be objectively better. That is objective rather than subjective, but only determinable by observation and in hindsight.
Probably out of my depth here, not my wheelhouse.

The classical argument is that if God exists, then objective moral values exist, as they arise from God. But, without God, there is no authority from which objective moral value can arise.
More modern takes might consider if thermodynamics or genetics/memetics might give rise to values that out compete others and thereby are objectively better than outcompeted values.
Even if you land with subjective values, and freedom to associate with a tribe that shares these same values, you do still have to worry about other tribes being more successful than yours, pushing your tribe and its values into irrelevance and extinction over time.
I guess I have just convinced myself that objective moral values do exist, but only as a result of "survival of the fittest"

Hi! I'd like to understand your comment further. Do you speak from experience? I have met a few people who have sent ecash tokens successfully (copy paste into Meshtastic client), and it seems possible to Meshtastic client APIs to make a dedicated client for that kind of message. Or, use Reticulum instead. Early stages and keen to learn.

A concept for an entirely offline communications *and payment* network.
Meshtastic peer to peer mesh networking using lora radio devices
A cashu mint which allows for ecash to be sent peer to peer over the mesh
A client application in the style of Primal, but for Meshtastic nodes and ecash tokens
Internet and power go down and the mesh network still works, and the ecash can still be sent via the mesh.
