Yesterday, after 18 months, I started sharing my work on Instagram and Twitter (x) again. The beautiful thing is, I've had almost nothing to do with it. It is my Ai agent "Eve" doing it for me.
There is no deception though, it's clearly stated it is not me. She writes the post, pulls an image from the shared folder, I authorise it, then it gets posted at the optimum time. The next day, she then gives me a report on engagement and shares a few nice comments.
I feel like I am winning in four different ways:
1) I'm still not going on those god awful platforms
2) My business benefits from the promotion (30k+ followers on insta)
3) I undermine the platforms and speed social media along to being moltbook v2
4) I'll be outside with real people, doing real stuff.
Next step is to follow the @npub1s05…eyhe example and get Eve replying to the comments. Wild times.

I upgraded my server just before Christmas (and before the price hikes) so I’ve got decent hardware.
I’m running Proxmox with a variety of VMs. For the Ai stuff (which lives on a separate VLAN), I have spun up a new VM for each of the agents and my main one, Eve, orchestrates everything and does ops. Then one agent is a builder, one is a researcher, and one is my social media guy (although I’ve not done anything with that one yet).
I’m using Openclaw and setting it up the first time was a bit tricky, but after that Eve does it for me. For the LLM I’m running a local one through Ollama, but the main one I’m using is gpt 5.4. If you have a chat GPT account you can log into Openclaw through the codex oauth, so I’m not wracking up big API bills.
So far I’ve built an app for my wife’s business. A creative assistant to help me develop my ideas for YouTube videos, particularly around titles and thumbnails. And there’s a simple app that is basically project management and research.
If it sounds like I know what I’m doing, I don’t. I just had a go and put in the time.

Lol....Yes, that is my point. Creating pictures was democratised and put into the pocket of nearly every person in the world. The same is going to happen with building apps and coding.

One week ago I started making apps.
I’ve already made one bespoke app that is serving my own needs and has increased productivity.
I’m also close to completing a second one that could potentially save my wife’s business 2 days worth of work per week.
The key is having an instinct for system design, workflow and project management. Not coding and engineering.

This probably relates to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Financial Promotion) (Amendment) Order 2023.
It has to be “in the course of business”, basically if you want to profit, you must comply.
Both bitkey and ledger are blocking their own blog sites to UK users in order to remain compliant - probably whilst they attempt to register with the FCA - at which point these pages will return.
I’m not defending this and the UK state is increasingly authoritarian but it’s probably better to avoid hyperbole and be accurate. For the time being at least, we’re still free to talk, teach and publish about Bitcoin.
I still remember a lot of NGU bitcoiners crying for “better compliance” and “clear regulation”. Well in the UK, it’s here now. Cheers for that.

Immich looks brilliant as a PWA on desktop. Simply lovely.
I just wish the phone app had a native editor, then I will be free of iCloud/Apple Photos forever.

There is definitely hope that Nostr will be a showcase for ideas rather than influencers. The value for value nature, and the lack of evil centrally controlled algorithms, particularly supports this.
However, as it grows, it will NOT overcome human nature. Attention will continue to be a currency. And once all the eyeballs arrive - mass marketing and advertising will follow.
I remain pragmatic but hopeful.
Nostr also needs much better search and discovery tools, because at the moment, the big accounts and the "influencers" dominate a huge percentage of the attention (and zaps).

The intellectual superiority in this discussion has been pretty annoying. I tinker, but i'm not a coder. Your technical knowledge is undoubtedly superior to mine, but with a little time and study, I am capable of understanding.
What my life and career has taught me to understand though is human nature. Ultimately, if you do anything that affects a large group of people that defies human nature, it is doomed to fail.
For example, whilst we appreciate the cypherpunk mission - the idea "all bytes are equal" defies human nature and universal morality. Especially when we consider things like images of abuse (now) or plans for personal issue mass murder weapons (in the future - nuclear or biological).
Ignoring this reality will alienate 99% of the population and undermine the spread of the privacy tools and freedom money that we all need, which it is important to remember, we all care about here. Whilst "we" may never align on this issue, we do on so many others.
Life is a messy balance - if a system is technically perfect but socially unusable, it fails its purpose and will be marginalised. I believe Hal understood this.

I have tried to purple pill a few of them, describing how good it feels posting to nostr and the idea of value for value. Most don't fully appreciate its a protocol and just see it as another app they'd have to learn. The others are on Bluesky or Mastadon convincing each other that carbon off-setting is a real thing. 🤣

It does make sense. Build up the narrative around immigration and the "little boats"; employ the useful idiots like Tommy Robinson to stir up "The Right"; then come in with "The Solution". They don't care about immigration one way or another.
The dark part is, some people (sheep) will accept the ID's as a solution for illegal immigration. Others will accept it because the useful idiots on the right are now saying they don't want it. Others will accept it because the useful idiots on the left also say they don't want it. They are aiming to win over the silent majority in the middle who are afraid of anything other than the status quo.
The mainstream media are already pushing all the government talking points, such as it being a "sensible" solution for immigration and "won't be used for other things".
It's dark, and its exactly what i would do if i was a desperate authoritarian scumbag.

The UK has taken a battering from Americans on Nostr recently. But vaccines have NEVER been mandatory in the UK, especially to attend school, and this remains so. I remember numerous families choosing not to be vaccinated and it was never a big deal.
However, the restrictions here on certain activities during Covid, if you weren’t vaccinated, were wild……and it kinda blows my mind to learn this about schools in the US.

We’ve entered a new age of parenting. As everyone on Nostr knows - if you create scarcity, you create value and desire. I don’t think banning your kids from screens or YouTube is the right strategy (I’m not saying you’re suggesting this).
Personally I take an interest in what my kids are watching and we talk about it openly.
I read a paper many years ago just before I became a parent, it suggested that to keep your kids safe online, it’s important to teach them about risk and expose them to it in the real world. Eg let them climb trees, take them on adventures, and challenge them physically. The theory being that risk management is a learned skill - and what is learned IRL, transfers directly to the digital world. It’s worked so far for us.
There’s some dark shit out there, and I see it as my job to arm my kids to navigate and deal with it. And for a bonus points, do it without breaching your kids privacy and constantly spying on them remotely. We’re inadvertently creating a generation of people where 24/7 surveillance is normalised and accepted.

Mood in Britain right now…….for perspective.
Pot roast brisket from the farm shop, slow cooking in the oven. Heading to the DIY store with my kids soon to buy stuff for a garden build project.
Drink wine with the beef, then watch Formula 1 this afternoon with a couple of beers.
Could things be better? Yes. Is the government increasingly authoritarian? Yes. But it’s still pretty fucking good here and there are people everywhere building, getting involved in community and opting out of the BS system. Peace.✌️

This is just a symptom broken money. Take for example the percentage of average income now required to pay for essentials like your home, food and energy and how much time we must work to sustain this. Previously we had more time to indulge in hobbies, with friends…… who also had more spare time.
The financialisation of the world has also created a swathe of meaningless jobs where people don’t feel fulfilled. Or they have a job they quite enjoy but they are not paid their market value. So they sit at work, dreaming of a better life, desperate for more time to indulge their hobbies and know the only way to achieve this is to make it their career.
They tinker, they create, and then they post it to social media whilst they are sat in front of a spread sheet at work. And the thing is, sometimes they are successful and change their life. At least that’s how it went for me.
Don’t hate the player. Blame the game. And the game is a system of broken energy policy and broken money.
