🚀 Big milestone for the SHIFT 6MQ!
Just got it running through dockstation with:
✔️ keyboard
✔️ mouse
✔️ ethernet
✔️ ...DisplayPort output 🎉
Full external display support is now working, thanks to some hands-on implementation and a few extra patches on top of sdm845 Linux.
Plug it in, and you’ve got a proper desktop experience.

First picture from the dual front-facing IMX355 sensors on #Pixel3 📸
Both lenses are now alive under mainline Linux — standard + wide, just like Google intended. Still early bring-up, but seeing real images come through makes it very real.

Apple Wallet passes on Linux — getting better.
Mobile Linux support has been pretty weak. My favorite app [ https://github.com/pablo-s/passes ] had a few rough edges.
New version (v0.11, released 2 days ago).
🚀 České dráhy now show date & time.
I contributed a few improvements today (3 PRs, ~5 hours):
🐛 Proper date & time rendering
🐛 QR code clearly visible on the button

Sent the display notch cutout description file for the MacBook Pro (M2 Pro, 14").
It would be nice if, at some point, the GNOME desktop (e.g., Mutter/GNOME Shell) could work with this information and adjust UI elements accordingly. Soon, there will be more and more devices with display cutouts.
There’s already amazing work by Phosh e.V. on this, so hopefully feature parity will come soon!

I’m looking for help funding a MacBook M2 Pro (~€1300). My Dell starts throttling seconds into kernel builds, making daily compiling and testing of an arm64 code painfully slow. Faster hardware = less waiting, more upstream work for everyone 🐧❤️

Today we sat down with Petr Hodina and managed to:
1. Get a stability patch improving #sdm845 stability sent upstream to -next (already merged today).
2. Determine that the display driver on the Xiaomi Poco F1 (Tianma panel) was crashing the kernel.
3. Enable basic framebuffer support for the Poco F1 and disable the Display Clock Controller (dispcc & mdss) for the Tianma model to prevent crashes and loss of display.

hearing massive security overhaul in combination with huge codebase as Linux kernel sounds very risky when done by small team.
Would you consider at least trying to work with Linux community on these? I believe also people from big corps as Red Hat etc. would appreciated progress and could be helpful in this area outside of mobile world.
Rust situation in kernel also slowly improves.

How’s the upstreaming using the Linux next branch going?
👷 Rebasing and testing patches is going great! We’ve got the basic functionality working on #OnePlus6 and #OnePlus6T (though it’s still unstable).
👀 Many patches have been sent upstream for maintainer review.
❗Some patches in the -next tree are still causing trouble.
📈 But bisecting is pretty efficient now, so we’ve already reported the issues we’ve found in -next to the devs.

As a follow-up to the yesterday post — we’ve got C-PHY mode working on Qualcomm devices!
Yesterday, Petr Hodina and I managed to get the main camera running on the OnePlus 6 / 6T (Sony IMX519 sensor) — a huge step forward for mainline main camera support on many modern devices 🎉

Three years ago, I experimented with introducing automated build testing for RISC-V in Linux GPU drivers. Back then, it was a bit hacky due to the older Debian version used in CI [ https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/19917 ]
Recently, Mesa3D CI was upgraded to Debian 13, which supports RISC-V out of the box — and we’ve already been testing basic RISC-V builds for the past two days!

Tested GNOME Night Light on a Pixel 3 (running the latest #Linux, next-20251017 branch, with the Pixel 3 patches and the Night Light patch applied).
With @npub1uk8…jt2x ’s patch, most Qualcomm devices can use Night Light too!
Don’t forget — you can control Night Light from the terminal, as I did for this demo. See:

🎉 At today's #Prague meetup, we successfully ran U-Boot on the Pixel 3 (including display support!), in addition to the Pixel 3 XL.
Also reported a regression in the Linux -next tree causing a crash at boot.

First successful boot of the U-Boot bootloader on the #Pixel3XL !
Since I don't have a USB-C serial cable, this is the on-screen output—though the display driver isn’t ready yet.
U-Boot can be controlled using the power button (OK) and volume down button (DOWN).
This also paves the way for proper mainline support for the device, as the previously required hacky Linux kernel revert is no longer needed to boot the #Pixel3 / 3XL.

Started experimenting with the #OpenRW engine, which works with #GTA3 data. It’s written from scratch using clean GPL 3 licensed code, eliminating the risk of lawsuits (since it’s a clean implementation with no decompiled code).
Completed:
- Improved asset loading for greater robustness.
Work in Progress:
- Adding support for ffmpeg 7.1+.
Goals:
1. Get it running on #postmarketOS.
2. Implement touchscreen controls.
3. Enable support for Miami data (GTA Vice City).

#njtransit worst transport ever. Since I came to #NYC I had sone kind of problem everywhere except Metro. Ticket printing doesn't work, card won't get read properly at driver, or doesn't work at all. So far, US public transport was usually ok, except NY...

Fixed one #Mesa3D test and enabled tests in the #Alpine packaging. With the next releases, we can be sure no regressions sneak into Alpine or #postmarketOS. For now, some tests are failing on older 32-bit ARM, but otherwise, everything looks good!

I sent MR for improving #OpenCL on ARM #Panfrost #FOSS #GPU driver. Hopefully, #PinePhonePro becomes 1st class citizen for playing with small LLM models.
So far got from:
Pass: 741, Fail: 278, Crash: 431
to
Pass: 2649, Fail: 588, Crash: 106, Timeout: 4
Another part of the MR is setting up a nightly job to monitor regressions, so we can be sure no new bugs sneak up.
