Good evening #Nostr.

2026-09-07 18:00:04 UTC

Trying to get myself to post to Nostr more often, everything I'm interested besides Nostr seems to be on X.. I'll keep trying to do my best though.

2026-09-03 11:26:08 UTC

omostrich.com is up. Little ostrich in your Omarchy bar. Guards your Nostr key and never hands it over. Unlock, write, send.

They funded me for six months and were very kind, I was not their friend nor do I really know any of them still. I did get a final report warning via email because I never sent it initially, I thought I was done. But they did warn me and I just sent it out quick and all was well.

What's up Nostr?

2026-07-16 13:25:46 UTC

https://relay.pleb.one has been running for I think over a year now, I wish I took the time to log the start date. But we're trucking along with all 15 of our users. Our coffers are low and any donations to keep it running would be appreciated, cheers!

I guess it would actually depend on what the conflict was.

I'm thinking about doing a Desktop Windows client for Nostr, full on Native app, with no web technologies on the front end.

2026-03-27 16:50:32 UTC

Nice to see the Pleb One Relay getting some love.

How is everyone doing this fine week?

2026-02-17 15:00:59 UTC

eeekkk... I installed WoW again... bye bye time!

2026-02-16 17:22:01 UTC

At one point sometime ago I promised a native desktop #Nostr client for #Windows. I was doing some minor gaming and since I had Windows going, I may as well get a start on it.

I was thinking of life in the third-world and wondering how it would affect software choices. The first thing that came to mind is local/offline first is the key to everything. If it needs a connection or the cloud, its sort of worthless.

another test post...cheers!

A couple months ago I started taking TaeKwonDo since my girls were already months ahead of me on it and it sounded like a great opportunity for us to do something together. Got my first promotion last night, big bad yellow belt at 53 years old..lol

I'm giving Obsidian a go again for notes, but I will have to write some scripts to allow me to do certain entries from the command line.

2026-02-12 18:24:07 UTC

I feel the NostrFeedz UX needs a ton of work, I think I need to give it a lot of focus.

I just rewrite the login logic for the relay.pleb.one website, it's been a constant headache that repeats itself. Let's see if this rewrite actually nips it in the bud. I also added logging in with nip-46 bunker address also.

2026-02-03 15:26:23 UTC

Added relay customization in Noscli settings, testing to see if I see it go through relay.pleb.one now that I added it.

So, I used Omarchy for a couple weeks and Cosmic Desktop for a couple weeks. I’m Torn to which I should make my permeant home. Omarchy is definitely way more exciting and customized, but Cosmic seems a bit stabler. Maybe, I have to do Omarchy one more time, to see.

I’ve been taking taekwondo with my kids, but I really want to get back to JiuJitsu, I am considering just doing both.

2026-01-30 17:08:30 UTC

Check out https://relay.pleb.one if you want a pleb.one Nostr address or to use the relay.

I've been to combat twice, I watched US soldiers go out of there way to get in front of kids, lay on top of them to protect them. While at the same time I've watched our opponents literally put women and children in front of themselves as shields. Blame the politicians, not the soldiers.

2026-01-29 18:54:39 UTC

If you are whitelisted on https://relay.pleb.one you can now go into the Admin panel and get a "@pleb.one" Nip-05 address. https://blossom.primal.net/813f3f1502feb2f49c8b6dcbfc44431b7f612656cf7b30ee5a36c019244b93bf.png

Sometime today relay.pleb.one may go down for a short time. I'm going to be working on having nip-5 addresses for relay users... So you could be user@pleb.one ... At least that's my plan.

2026-01-29 14:31:32 UTC

I’m working on the command line version of my webapp NostrFeedz. I’m working on how to deal with images. In the right terminal (kitty, alacritty, ghostty) they come inline. But in others, do I have it so they open in browser, image viewer, maybe a hover to image viewer? #dev #terminal https://nostrfeedz.com

2026-01-28 19:17:53 UTC

Earlier I posted about some updates to NostrFeedz. Once that was out I started working on the NostrFeedz cli client. Will keep y'all updated.

I’ve decided my brain cannot contain emacs and vim commands at once, so sticking with Vim

2026-01-27 13:05:34 UTC

I always switch back and forth from the digital and analog tasks, journal, notes life. I love being on paper, but carrying something to write with 24x7 is hard. I’ve tried hybrid, but in all reality digital thoughts never make it back to the paper.

2026-01-26 17:15:51 UTC

Today I will try emacs.

2026-01-26 16:13:15 UTC

One of the next phases for NostrFeedz is going to be a Desktop app. I am toying with it being a command line app. Any preference out there? I lean towards tuis but accept that I am a nerd and others may not accept that.

2026-01-26 14:40:36 UTC

I sometimes wonder how Gnome has become the defacto desktop for most of #Linux. It does look beautiful, that I cannot deny; but it’s lack of functionality, over simplification of apps, and lack of customization really make it sort of inferior to most other desktops.

2026-01-26 01:36:02 UTC

I was playing with Pop-OS! today and it gave me a chance to test Autonomix-cli with a Debian based distro, worked like a charm.

2026-01-23 16:29:17 UTC

@npub10r8…t2p8 have you guys started investigating how you will manage or what needs to be done when google starts locking down sideloading more?

2026-01-23 15:56:10 UTC

Made some changes to https://relay.pleb.one this morning.
What We Removed (The Bad Stuff):
- Private key login - This was like giving away your house keys to anyone who asked. Super dangerous!
- Hex key login - Same problem, just a different format of your private keys
What We Kept (The Good Stuff):
- Browser Extension Login (NIP-07) - Like using a secure password manager. Your private keys stay locked in the extension and never get exposed. This is now the recommended way.
- Public Key + Password - Only shares your public profile info, never your private keys. Good for automated tools.
Why This Matters:
- Before: Someone could steal your private keys and pretend to be you forever
- After: Your private keys stay safe in your browser extension or never get transmitted at all
The Trade-off:
- Some users will need to install a browser extension (like Alby) or set up a password
- But they'll be MUCH safer from hackers
Bottom Line:
We prioritized security over convenience - better to make users take one extra step than risk their accounts getting hacked!

I’ve gotten pretty used to using copilot outside of VSCode, just in the terminal. It’s improved productivity quite a bit. In VSCode remote connections broke often. I standard ssh terminal sessions stay solid all day if it must.

2026-01-23 15:05:38 UTC

it feels good when 4 of the apps I sideload with Obtanium are my own. https://cdn.uploads.micro.blog/279103/2026/screenshot-20260123-085730.png

2026-01-23 15:00:32 UTC

There is a good chance relay.pleb.one will be broken for a chunk of the day. I am working on fixing some persistent issues I have been having with it. I’ll let folks know when it’s fixed.

2026-01-20 17:34:25 UTC

After some consideration, I am going to take Zaprank down, it was a fun little experiment making a Nostr app with Rails, but in all reality it doesn't serve much of a purpose nor does it get the traffic making the resources it uses worth it.

2026-01-20 17:20:22 UTC

The relay.pleb.one admin area was having login issues, they are remedied for those who want to go tinker there.

2026-01-20 14:31:26 UTC

My fitness app has been coming along well, not sure if I will ever release it for public consumption, more of a personal tool to fit my needs. At the same time, its not fun, to not share.

I think I may start building apps around syncthing, its the best way to sync without haveing a server. I love the idea of having to not rely on cloud infrastructure.

2026-01-19 12:09:27 UTC
