Aldrin was realistic about man made climate change the last time I had a chance to talk to him in 1999 (There had been an article in the local paper that morning).

Like today in the Trump Abortion Ban states, it doesn't apply to rich folk.
I was in a branch of the army that had an inordinate number of college dropouts...to the point that when I arrived in Asmara, I was one of the few in my company with ONLY a high school education.
As such, a lot of the guys families had money. The euphemism for abortion that was common was that their sister was going to take a trip to Switzerland.
I don't even know of abortions were legal in Switzerland or if that is where they went. But girls needing an abortion went someplace in Europe.
That is why Project 2025 wants to track periods. They don't want rich folk going out of the area to get one.

I lived in a small town with crank phones. Two of my classmates were telephone operators. they knew all.
But, even without that, I remember an incident where there was a Shell Station at the corner of state 80 and 21. It was the local hangout.
One of the owner's wife had a baby and he was handing out cigars. My 17 yo brother lit his. Before he finished his first puff, the phone rang. It was my mother telling him to get his ass home.

In 1995, when people first started the internet, newspaper circulation was 68M.
By 2007, when tablets first started coming out, it was already down to 50M
in 2015, when TFG announced, it was down to 38M.
in 2020, it was done to 20M
This year, projecting the graph it will be down to 16M.
By 2028, it would have been projected down to under 10M.
Television news has seen very similar drops.

I just saw an ad for a $75,000 signup bonus for seniors joining the Army.
I didn't follow it, but I actually gave it some thought.
WIth my DSc, I probably would be brought in on basic training/OCS lite that was offered when I really was in. I would still have all my retirements.

No you can't. By definition, an intelligent dishwasher is one with artificial intelligence...no matter how primitive.
You can have an intelligent dishwasher without LLMs. Simple speech/gesture recognition would improve the usability for the handicapped but voice recognition of simple commands needs the internet or a hell of a lot of memory.
I run several AI tasks on a RP2040 including gesture recognition.

Yes. No small part of the problem is that it affects language research in that it is coloring the statistics of language.
A side effect of this, not fully appreciated is that complex language statistics are used to break encryption. It's pollution of the language directly affects national security.
In some of the early LLM tests, they fed back generated test into the process to see what happened. It made the model useless.
Therefore, by putting the outputs out there without clearly labeling them as such, will reduce the quality of them in time to the point where they are useless.

Exactly. The polls have been blown up.
The only thing we can do is to follow one poll, say the Harris poll and see which direction it is going.
One problem I see in the polls is if polling organization A is hired by organization X, there is a different result than if they are hired by organization Y. Is it a statistical fluke? Is it bias?
Then, as indicated by Trump's trial, there are show bias for hire polling organizations. How many are there?

Polls this year are pretty much garbage.
Phone polls are flawed because less than 14% answer an unknown or unidentified number. Pew research claims 67% let such a call go to voice mail. The Pew number, based on my experience, reflects how inaccurate phone polling is. I'm 82 and the only people I know who answer a number they do not know have dementia.
Polls adjust their answers according to the demographics of the region in the last election. For example, if it is 15% minorities of a certain class and they have 10% in their statistics of who voted the area during the last election, then they take 2/3 of their numbers.
Now, this becomes problematic. Because they say their margin of error is, say +/-4%. This means they have results for 625 people.
But, that minority has an error of +/- 10%.
Now, let us assume that registration is up 276% for that class and the average for all other classes is up 70%. Then, they should have taken three times the original minorities number. 1/

The King James version was a translation from the Latin Vulgate and some Greek texts that were translated for the vulgate.
There are texts hundreds of years older than those used for the vulgate but are inconsistent with the vulgate.
The sundry updated translations of the Bible are made consistent with the King James version and not the oldest original texts.
There were numerous books of the new testament left out because they did not agree with the current practices of the church. Several Coptic texts of the same booksare in complete disagreement with the accepted text, particularly the epistles.
The four gospels are believed to all have been derived from the same book. Many of the stories in single gospels are believed to not really be correct but are kept because too much theology is based on them.

For those who weren't in the Military. This is what makes Vance's faux outrage so grievous.
Walz was a Command Sergeant Major. This guy will be even less of a combatant than a public affairs clerk (Vance). He is there to sever as a go-between between the CO and the NCOs. That's it. If he didn't show up, another senior NCO steps in his place. That's it.
Now, as far as putting anyone in harms way because he drops out, it actually means, someone is taken out of harms way.
Now on to an additional point. The timeline does not support the narrative. Walz retired BEFORE his unit received the call up notice.
Now one more thing, the video. There are dozens, if not hundreds of videos, of Walz giving the same pitch against assault weapons where he does not utter, "in war" in other videos, the word order is such that it says those weapons ONLY belong in war. Which is a paraphrase of Reagan.

Hell, few of the psychiatrists get that there's a sweet spot. IMHO. They should ramp up the dose until you get anxiety and then back it off until ADHD returns and set the dose halfway in between.
My SIL got on a new med for something and had to get off of her ADHD medicine. She realized she was taking way too much because she felt better with none. Her doctor had been ramping up the dose to make it work better.
I can't take the stimulants any more because I suffer from tachycardia.
So, I'm on Stratera but we've been diddling with the time of day to take it. I take it in the morning and I spend the afternoon being drowsy. I take it at bedtime and it keeps me up. I'm having a hell of a time remembering to take it around 4PM. I'm going to dig out one of those daily pill things and set a reminder on my phone.
