I've made guitars from scratch. I also enjoy playing and writing music. It would take another 200 years to try half the things that interest me.

Peter Piper picked a pack of potent pooper puncher peppers.
I like spicy food. *Really* spicy food. So once this 2.5 cm tiny guy was ripe, it went straight into my mouth. Instantly, I was reminded of the scene from Men in Black, where Will Smith pulls the trigger on his super tiny pistol and it sends him flying.
Seriously, it was one of the hottest things I've eaten in years! (Something, something...size doesn't matter, OMG why can't I feel my lips? etc.)

Monday, I visited a local fountain pen shop. The owner offered to let me try out the aluminum and brass Colorverse Shuttle nibs when I asked him about them.
At $45, it might seem a bit pricey, but I'm telling you, it's worth every penny! It holds a ton of ink, but hasn't dripped or splattered yet. The transistions between line weights feels smooth and natural.
Their aluminum nib holder is great, but I opted to make my own from maple on the lathe.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I've been good this year, but Santa doesn't seem especially bothered by my lack of piety.
The Lamy 2000 piston fountain pen is lovely, and more than I'd have purchased for myself. The ink and sketchbook on top of that were enough to convince me that good things happen to those who misbehave.

Crazy thing that. I vacationed with my family in Evergreen this summer. First impression? Wow, it's beautiful here! (See the photo.)
Second thought? Why are there so damn many churches? There can't be that many people, right?
As for Utah...sigh. I'm an exmormon whose family goes all the way back to the originals. I wish I could say anything here surprises me. Salt Lake is super progressive, though. It gets crazier the further away you go.

I've been working on this piece and little else for nearly two months now. It's huge, and it feels like I'll never be done.
You may want to zoom in on this one.
The paper is an old topographical map. I'm trying to create the image using the existing contour lines. I like where it's going, but not how long it's taking to get there.

I'd post this as a work in progress, but it's been sitting untouched for almost a month while I'm working on something else. Does that count as progress?
I'm about 30 hours in so far. Fine nibs can do lovely work, but they do get tedious.
Drawing is 4.5" x 12" to fit a pair of weird frames I had sitting around. The scene is from a photo I took near Manzanita, Oregon at low tide.

I'm no expert, so take it with a grain of salt. I've only been watching that site as sort of an accidental hobby since December. My only aviation experience has been flying Cessna 152s and 172s.
That said, it does seem weird.

Finished! Behold, the Holy Trinity of Pasta taking up their mantle.
In all, this project of three 12" x 18" pen and ink drawings took me around 220 hours total to complete.
As luck(?) would have it, a knock came at the door as I was hanging the last one. I peeked out the window and d'oh! Mormons! I wish I was kidding. Ignoring my no soliciting sign, they kept knocking. I happily told them to fuck off. They did. Pretty good day, all told.

Okay, so this question was eating at me all night. I started thinking about the physics of it first, and it seems possible, depending on your distance from the epicenter.
After sleeping on it, I arrived at the brilliant conclusion that I am not a geophysicist, but I bet *they've* figured it out. Yup!

My kids went to a school that starts with cursive first. The reasoning is that it makes phonics more intuitive. I haven't seen any actual research to that effect, but I will say this: my youngest doesn't have her driver's licence yet, but she has taken five college courses.

Lovely aircraft!
I was studying for my instrument rating when 9/11 happened. I planned on seeing it through to commercial, but that ended it for me. I haven't piloted a plane since. I miss it sometimes, too.

Well fuck 'em. I already hated that I could stream with VPN on Chromecast. I have a spare Linux laptop and an HDMI cable, though. At least I'm the admin on it and can still block ads.
