I am thinking about a book club idea for my normie friends. Someone proposes a book that they want me to read and discuss with them on a schedule. I give them a price at which I'll do it.
For me, the price would be nowhere near enough to make it worth my time. To the buyer, the price would be enough to make them value the project but nothing substantial. Say, the value of what the two of you would consider to be a special meal / night on the town. The trick is to find an amount that is an afterthought to the spender but enough that there is at least something valuable attached to the thought.
Convert that amount to sats and agree that your friend will pay you that many sats whenever he asks you to read another book with him. I'd offer this the other way, too. ”I'll pay you 150,000 sats if you read and discuss The Scapegoat with me."
Starts to normalize the value of sats, too. "A hundred fifty k" of something sounds like a lot.

We broke the cycle. My wife wanted to have our first son cut because she was afraid that girls would talk about him in high school and he'd be embarrassed.
I told her that I'd allow it on one condition: she would have to be in the room and watch it happen. She stopped being so concerned about girls telling tales of his intact johnson.

Highly regulated. They need to stick to a script that gives them a certain amount of leeway to "advise." But the truth is that even if you weren't a bitcoiner, you just need to open a brokerage account and buy ETFs.
The fact that so many people pay 1% for someone to do this on their behalf because they're unwilling to take even a small amount of personal responsibility is quite telling.

How can you have a right to practice law without a license? It's laughable, tough, to think about the allegation made at the time that he was trying to scam people. Worst scammer in history, if that were the case... Scammed his way into living a vow of poverty so he could build the future he dreamed of. 🤣

Second day back was a different challenge. Only other guy at morning class (other than the instructor) was a novice. It was much easier on me physically; the challenge was mental. The opportunities to convert positions to submissions weren't coming to me easily.

The weirdness was a result of dozens of people saying they'd commit capital but not going through with it when closing time came. The seller wouldn't give an extension because - if you recall market conditions in late '21 / early '22 - he would have made more money pocketing the earnest money deposit and putting the land back on the market at a higher price.
The public last-ditch appeal combined with the terms Joel felt were necessary to execute properly (ie, not including land ownership or operational governance rights for investors) made it look very scammy to the outside observer on bitcoin twitter. And few things fire up that corner of the internet more than piling on when a scammer is being called out.
