I do. That doesn’t mean I’m not very frustrated by such people. But I get that there are those who are ignorant, disengaged etc. And that the corruption of the democratic process in the most capitalistic country in the world is what is behind all of this.
It is the rich power brokers who actually bear responsibility for this situation.

The only thing I like about these things is that George likes playing with them. A soy sauce dispenser in the counter should suffice. We don’t want to replace them with little plastic sachets.

Some courier services are suspending services as well. No one knows how the tariff system is going to work, how payments will be made & what happens if recipients refuse to pay. Services could end up with facilities overflowing with parcels while the situation is sorted. And given the incompetence of the Trump government…

The last lot of tradies were going to trim the top of my ti-tree hedge out back, but weren’t really equipped. Would’ve been much better to get it done back in April/May, but at least it’s still in time for spring growth. Lemon tree will get more afternoon sun now which is good.

Argh! I’m actually better shopping in department stores for & with others than by myself. Took MIL for new knickers last week (no new ones since Covid!). Couldn’t talk her into anything g else tho. Think she was overwhelmed. In-laws are also neurodivergent, but largely undiagnosed, unrealised.

My autocorrect has gone nuts’. All sorts’ of irrelevant words’ are popping in, while some string’s of word’s joined with a letter c instead of a s’pace slip through. Threw in some apostrophe’s for your enjoyments. ‘’’

I was probably taught grammar up until about grade 4. I was in my 40’s when I started teaching, and my knowledge of grammar was much better than that of most of my younger colleagues, with the exception of a grammar nut. Most people who have learned English as a second or additional language have a much better knowledge of English grammar than native English speakers.

I get that triaging must occur in dire situations when there’s a shortage of beds, staff, drugs etc, & rightfully so. I would happily let a young person receive treatment before me if that was the situation. But in less dire situations, putting a dollar value on people’s lives?
The restrictions we put in didn’t just cost a lot of money saving the lives of many many people, not all of them older, disabled, chronically ill etc. (Even writing that makes me so angry!) It also saved our health systems from being crippled, our healthcare workers from exposure to disease and trauma. It saved many many children from being orphaned, both emotionally & financially devastating. Our economy suffered, but how much did the economies of countries hit harder by the pandemic suffer from the loss of lives (workers & consumers), the loss of workers due to long Covid , their own of that of loved ones they now have to care for? The loss of healthcare workers due to death and disability?
This isn’t just morally outrageous, it’s just plain stupid.

Bugger! I like my discount of course, but I also agree that some of us need it a lot less than students & some others. For a start, a lot of people over 60 are still working. If a “senior” has a good/excellent income from work or super, they probably don’t need a discount in public transport.

We’re currently looking at holiday accommodation in Spain. There seems to be an enormous number of 1 bedroom studio apartments, probably built for tourism & not necessarily suitable for permanent accommodation. We’re more than happy to book cheap & cheerful 3 star hotels, & will do so when possible, on principle. Limiting our stay in busy Barcelona, partly due to costs, but also crowds. Part of the problem is tourists with limited time who cram into tourist hotspots, neglecting the rest of the country.
