I think we all lip read to some extent, which is one reason why foreign languages are hard.
It wouldn’t surprise me if hearing aids were harder for some neurodivergent people to use, but that adjustment issue is interesting Jude. I also struggle with ear plugs of any sort being very uncomfortable, but would Bluetooth headphones help?
My oldest lives in a share house & has put sound proofing material in one wall, as has the person on the other side. That person works from home online late into the night, teaching English language. It works well.
