Just was talking to a Singaporean guy who was able to take a Japanese Yen denominated loan from a Singaporean bank to buy a Japanese rental property (income above costs apparently) and Japanese govt gave him immediately a 10% tax rebate of some sorts.
Can you say Japanese Carry trade?
Apparently lots of 'smart finance people' have been doing it and 'the Japanese govt is very conservative about changing interest rates' even though he knew that they just did raise interest rates for first time in decades (?).
I asked what happens if Japanese interest rates go up? He said his costs will increase but they are still low right now.
I said the entire world is in the same boat. He seemed unsure about that propsect 😒. I didn't bother with the Bitcoin speech, he's too far deep and I just met him in line at the airport. Lucky fella escaped unscathed!

Interesting info on BRICS new Currency white paper. Not that it is a replacement for BTC or anything but interesting to see what they are up to. Its somewhat decentralized (not like BTC) compared to existing USD, is backed by a basket of commodities including Gold (we know how this ends) and each country holds its own amount of these commodities and these are not stored in one place, is run on a decentralized ledger where each sovereign acts as a node.
A BRICS currency might be important milestone to know about as it offers a competitor to US Govt Bonds and would slowly defund the US Govt and empire. Once more sovereign Govts see US Govt Bonds as a bad buy a BRICS currency may be somthing they opt for instead.
Demand for US Govt Bonds are decreasing due to US Govt doing stupid shite like deleting Russian USD Govt Bonds and stealing Venezulean Gold (via Bank of England) on top of creating so much debt that they can't be considered able to pay it back in the future.
US Govt Debt grows as 3.5% of GDP and GDP itself grows at 3% meaning slowly but surely the debt will become a larger and larger part of where GDP goes to. They will then issue more debt to pay for this worsening the problem creating a debt spiral of epic proportions.

This is making more sense after a couple days.
When I look at BTC tops in relation to US elections I get 12-13 months from election to BTC top which I think backs up your these wrt BTC and liquidity as new US govts seem to kick off new spending via debt.
M2 Global carries on peaking for around 6 months post BTC top and then it declines and we do another 4 year biz cycle based on elections according to my analysis.
Are BTC tops as simple as understanding Global M2?

Why is BTC more sensitive that Gold in terms of market cap? For eg Mark Moss says BTC goes up $9 for every $1 that comes in. Some others say 4/5 per $1 in market cap.
But what is the reason for this? I assume it's because BTC is a more diff asset to increase the supply of ie more 'hardened' and therfore more secure in fiat monetary problematic times.
Is this correct in your opinion or another reason?

yes timing the market was not what I was suggesting. very hard to do that. I was talking about Dollar Cost Averaging OUT od the market when its overheated. You can measure its overheatedness with a risk metric. You still wont get the top for most of the sells but you may capture 60% of it perhaps. If keeping on Gold in the meantime then you can keep some of the high point BTC makes and buy back in later in the 4 year cycle.
I think the 4 year cycle isn't going to change soon. Maybe in 10/20 years plus but for medium term its here to stay I think. Its based, as far as I can tell, on new govts spending as they come into power in fiat and increasing the debt load which again causes the market highs BTC experiences - and other assets.

Have you considered...
being heavy on BTC for the bull swings and then selling into Gold (due to its relative stability) for a year or so while market corrects downward then going in on BTC again. This would take advantage of the greater upside fof BTC but also the greater stability of Gold.
There is the issue of timing the market of course which is a significant one but DCA in and out of BTC according to a risk metric should help you avoid the difficulties of timing the top. You wont capture all of the top but lets say alot of it.

I would say the 'new regime' representing crypto is the one to back. I think the time has come for the old regime. I'm holding and riding the wave created by my enemies enemy but at some point this group will become my enemy and I'll need to detach somehow. One thing people dont consider very much is "factions" within global elite. It's possible that Bitcoin was created by 'government' but when people usually say this they mean 'it's a set up or a trap' for us plebs and we will be rugged of your value at some point.
For example you could listen to Tom Luongo, Ian Ferguson and/or Whitney Webb to get an idea of these factions and how they are sometimes aligned against plebs and other times are just fighting for control vs eachother.
In the case of the former we plebs get fucked. In the case of the latter then the plebs benefit by having the enemy of our enemy doing things which align with our interests also.
But this is not to be confused with the enemy of our enemy being 'for plebs' of our friends. Maybe interests align for a period of time but eventually once these factions play out in a 'Game of Thrones' style epic saga of in fighting assassinations and war the winning faction will again look to subjugate the Plebs.
I dont think many people will understand the nuance of factions within power structures.
Instead of Bitcoin being a rugpull for plebs its actually a rugpull for the faction of the elites who have their power basis in fractional reserve banking and Libor Rates of interest on loaned money. Its this group of Elites who are non US and European based who are not aligned with Cypto and will eventually be ousted by it in favour or Bitcoin and Crypto currencies more generally as a basis for the new financial system.
Crypto is one big power play to oust the old regime and start a new one. This is not to be confused with 'BTC World Reserve Currency' type hopium, I think there will eventually be a rugpull when the new power faction has won and now looks to subjugate plebs. Not that I think BTC Network will fail. More likely imo some Layer 2 regime is set up on top and is KYC. In addition I also think GDP could be increased significantly with AI and new energy tech so as to lower the problemat Debt:GDP ratio.

Internet is not likely to go down for long if at all. Too much depends on it.
Nodes are now in satellites based on non-internet comms and we cna keep up with the network this way.
Its more likely that govts will ban your Gold rather than disrupt the internet.
The internet is based on cables but hundreds of them making up the entire global network. Its unlikely that all of them are disrupted.

He's likely correct that this is a failure point of BTC imo although you could argue against this I suppose in some ways.
In such cases its good to own 6-12 months of minimum expenses in GLD but not to have the bulk of your wealth in GLD.
Its useful to talk in probabilities instead of absolutes. Is BTC better than GLD? Depends on the scenario. There are trade offs with both. So the Q becomes whats more likely to happen and which asset mix gets you where you wanna go?
For eg, I think the chances of the power and internet going out for a long time are low in the near future (5 years) but not zero. in this case I would say keeping SOME Gold is a hedge against this low prob scenario. You would also want food store, water store, protection etc. The probabaility amy differ between location and persons sense of the world. V individual choice.
I think its more likely that power stays on, internet stays on and we have a very inflationary next 5-10 years as the can gets kicked further down the road. As such BTC makes more headways against inflation than GLD so its better to have the bulk of your wealth in BTC imo.

In order for Germany to make a payment (to debtor countries post ww1) they either had to have money lent to it (made up of fiat ledger sheet money) from Wallstreet or have machinery it made purchased from it by developing nations who only had the money to buy said machinery because they were given loans from Wallstreet to do so.

This is the thing that's so hard to fathom. There is only so much value in the world and when we use Fiat moneys we base a medium of exchange on something which is not the value itself but an lesser representation of it. These representations need to be paid back but because there is only so much value in the world. it can only be paid back with fiat leading to an endless cycle of loans to pay back loans.
If all the value in the world is represented by 1 then Fiat is over and above this. You would need to create more value in the world to truly pay it back without a fiat loan. You would need more land, more Gold, more energy, more of the actual valuable assets.

I think of you don't use their wallet then it's not KYC. Kyc comes cos they use strike wallet which is KYC. Using in this was I have less of an issue but I worry for noobs coming into the space who don't know the diff.

It still suffers from bugs that take time for devs to implement cos they got other stuff to do as well but I do love it and support it. It will only get better with our support. I was not trying to shit in Amethyst app at all!

If censorship continues Nostr will grow... eg Brazil recently.
If you use Nostr in a KYC manner you are effectively shooting yourself in the foot.
You are moving from one control regime to another because your safe haven in Nostr will also be tied to your identity.
Be aware that slick clients like #primal are VC backed and they represent imo the new or future control regime. They have a slick UI cos they have VC funds but those backers are likely part of the future control regime.
To avoid this use community funded clients like Nostr and Damus. They are more frustrating to use because they are less slick, they are less slick because the devs really on community funds which are less.
Imo we need to take the frustration of community built clients in order to avoid KYC and support non VC backed clients.
