It's official! This Sunday will be the last "leap forward" in BC!
As of next November, the Vancouver time zone in British Columbia, Canada will be referred to as "Pacific Time" and will be -7GMT permanently. (same as Yukon Territory which did this 2 years ago)
The presser was pretty cute actually. They had kids with little clocks, and they danced.
I would have preferred staying at Standard Time, but this will be ok too. It's interesting that Premier Eby made a point of (gently, as there were kids) insisting the delay of 6 years since the overwhelming survey response from British Columbians to eliminate the time change was due to waiting for the US West Coast states to do the same.
Now, BC has decided to push, and to lead by example.

“Edmonds says she was friends with Strang and used to babysit the shooter — 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar — as a child.
Edmonds told CBC News she weeps for all the people affected by the tragedy that unfolded in Tumbler Ridge, including Strang.
Edmonds says she watched the single mother, who she said worked long shifts at a nearby mine, fight to help her child.
Edmonds says at one point, Van Rootselaar tried to light a mattress on fire "and burn the house down." She said the teen had been hospitalized several times with mental health issues.

1) we're very progressive out here. All trains are bi-directional.
2)This is the only tourist/volunteer service. Southern Rail of Vancouver Island still runs propane freight on the portion from Nanaimo Harbour (Welcox spur) to mid-Nanaimo Superior propane on the Victoria sub. (always frontways there is a siding there to use. :)) they run cars there about two or three times a week.
3) I believe the enclosed cars do you have steam. No plans for electricity based heat, but they do have lights from the little generator lol

This is a really really nice interview with Canadian Children's Book author Robert Munsch. It's his "last hurrah”. He's living with dementia and parkinson’s.
He's going to be leaving (MAID) at some point (not soon) but there are 50 more books that will be released after he has passed.
He just seems like a wonderful guy…

The problem is, man-camps *are* a problem. They *are* rife with sexist, abusive, assholes. I have heard the first hand accounts myself from my own friends.
Calling that out isn't "anti-union" (none of the camps I know of in BC are union shops) nor "anti-worker” because it is the workers themselves (men and women) who suffer.
The problem is companies that don't give a shit about their workers:
Like Red Chris in BC not bothering to even put up electric fences to keep Grizzly Bears out.

There needs to be contract language for government using consultants drawn up that amounts to
"if the final report is found to contain AI-generated fake or mis-quoted information, or it is otherwise suspect that part or all of the report has been generated using an LLM, the entire report will be considered inadmissible and a full refund of all costs will be expected.”
That's how you protect the integrity of public decision making.

The most beautiful democratic act happening right now in Canada is in Alberta, yes Alberta, where constituents are using the new - easier to reach - petitioning and recall rules enacted by the current UCP government to launch recall campaigns on UCP Members of the Legislature.
