~4 Reverse of last month's question: if e-books stopped being produced, how much would you miss them?
They're a lot more affordable than paper books when they're new, they don't take up shelf space, and I can carry my library in my pocket, so I'd definitely miss them. I'd likely go back to buying mainly used books and using libraries more, which wouldn't be terrible things. Paper books I would miss on an emotional level, but e-books I'd mostly miss on a practical level.

˜3 Which ebook reader do you use?
I use the Android app that corresponds with wherever I bought the ebook. I don't have a dedicated e-reader. I do have an outdated Kindle Fire kicking around somewhere, but I haven't used it in ages. I think that's the only e-reader I've ever purchased.

˜2 How do you think where you live affects your creative work?
I've used fictional versions of where I live/d as settings. I wonder if my books would be faster paced and more action packed if I lived in a city, or how much the ocean would show up if I lived near it. I also wonder how much the physical space affects me. Would I write differently if I had some sort of writing den, or if I wrote beside a fireplace, or even if I took my laptop to the backyard? What if I moved around, did some writing at a library or cafe? Does the fact that I don't see a lot of things happening inspire me to imagine more, or would a more buzzing location provide more ideas to build on? I don't know.

»29 At age 11, our TTMD guest answered 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' with 'Author.' Do you know what you wanted to be at 11?
I suspect at age 11 I wanted to be something highly improbable, like a professional baseball player. I think it was a year later that I had to pick a career for a school project and I went with lawyer. I chose it because I associated the profession with money, of which my family didn't have a lot. I'm sure the lack was an influence, but mainly I think I just had a sense that I was supposed to want money. I remember a high school art project a few years later where we did a collage project, and modelling after some of my peers, I cut out luxury cars and the like, brands I was first hearing of in that moment, like BMW.
I remember my teacher being surprised that I wanted to be a lawyer, but also saying that there were aspects of it she could see. I don't remember which aspects.
Also that year, she picked me and another guy to go to a special class to work on a video project along with students from other area schools. Not Necessarily the News was popular at the time, and we did Nowhere Near the News. I believe the other guy is currently in Los Angeles working in television.
So I think the answer is, at age 11 I had no idea what I wanted to be and was just trying to fit in.

I rarely have enough uninterrupted free time to get into any extended state of 'locked in', so it's more short bursts. It tends to be something like
What if...?
Okay, maybe. Let's see. That would mean...
Oh, and then this over here would...
Right, and then...

§15 Does your adjective from day one still fit? If not, what would you choose as of today?
Is there a word for when Help comes to your door and you hesitate because others have come claiming the same but turned out to be Deception or Distraction in disguise but you invite her in and hear her out and find there may be wisdom in her words so you sit down to try to put her advice into action when you discover Self-Doubt snuck in behind her and is watching judgmentally over your shoulder so you politely escort him outside and get back to work only to find he's watching you through the window so you get up to close the blinds and remember they were broken and you took them down and haven't gotten around to replacing them yet and you think no wonder my writing is no good when I can't even handle simple things like keeping the blinds in good repair and you're tempted to say, "You're right, Self-Doubt, I should give up" but instead you put on a brave face and say, "Watch me all you want, you don't bother me, I'll just keep doing my thing" but you and he both know he's getting to you but you do your best to re-engage and you do manage to get back into it even if it's not quite the same as it was but on reflection in some ways maybe things are better than they were? What's the word for that?
I'll go with persistent.

25. You're going on a creative retreat. What's the most important thing you need to bring with you?
If it's a writing retreat, then probably a laptop. For art, maybe sketchbook(s), pencils, possibly laptop and digital drawing pad.
Outside of materials, I would want to bring my magical llama of inspiration. It's in one of my memory pockets in a muckier part of my mind, so I would want to call it forth for the occasion.

yeah, I would say my thoughts are continuous and in varying states of focus. Even as my attention is on trying to compose an answer to this question, there are a bunch of other thoughts going on in the periphery and waiting for their chance to be the main focus. I'm curious about other people's experiences. Sometimes I feel like I want to have more deliberate downtime for my brain, but I don't know.

the idea behind the question is not that there are times when you're not thinking, but I'm trying to differentiate between times a person is thinking with intent, things like how am I going to solve this problem, what am I going to do at this time or this day, etc, as opposed to I'm just going to give my mind time to relax and think about whatever. As is often the case, seeing how people interpret the question is part of what makes it interesting to me.

the sale price didn't make a difference. Nearly all my sales came around my release date. I had a couple in September, I think as a result of a self-promo I did here. When I didn't get any sales at all in October, I decided to try lowering the price. It didn't make a difference. I should probably try to promote outside fedi, but I haven't felt motivated, so if I'm being real with myself, if I want more readers, I have to do more than just feel bad that they're not there.

#WordWeavers Nov 1. Describe a perfect reader for your story (i.e. who is the story for?)
Her name is Elle and she lives in a converted garage apartment with her newly adopted cat. She already read one of my books, and though she was more interested in the writing in the margins than the book itself, she is an avid reader and might appreciate some of my other writing. Her book has already been (mostly) written, and I don't expect a sequel, but I can still imagine her reading my other books.

I'd like help. @npub1wsm…3z93 had several marketing suggestions, including putting stickers in strategic places like college campuses, used book stores, &c. I'm not confident it will sell a lot of books, but I love the idea of people finding my book through a sticker they saw. If you know a place in your area where a sticker would go nicely and are willing to share a mailing address please send to my pen name @ protonmail.

12. If you could visit a fictional world, would you? If so, which one?
Not sure. Fictional worlds tend to be dangerous, as readers/viewers like conflict and peril. Not that the real world isn't dangerous, too. Maybe a beer and a meal at the Prancing Pony during peaceful times. Swing by Milliways to watch the Gib Grab. Hm, where else? It seems I'm going on a fictional food and drink tour. Any recommendations?

it occurs to me that knowing the author has two meanings for me. Many of the authors I've read recently are people that I know on a more personal level from interactions on this site. Historically, though, it was more the sense of knowing their work from previous books I had read.
