Some inchies (art that is 1 inch square) I made back in 2020.
Flower theme, limited colors, triptychs. Started with the same flower across all three, then moved into design experiments with 2 flowers. Drawn with Micron pens and colored with Faber Castell PITT artist pens.
I had them in a small box for a while, then mounted them in a handmade book I bought from an artist’s Etsy store.
Not sure I want to work that tiny again, but it was a fun size to play with.
Tagging @nprofile…f0rm to show examples of my other small art.

I used to have a table in the dealer’s room at a lot of pop culture and fan conventions. Had my whole setup all ready: table covering, signage, artwork and other stuff prepped to be bought and carried away, biz cards and fun giveaways.
Haven’t done that in many years, and just realized how much I missed having the fun packaging as I got the sale from my @nprofile…3sxf booth ready to ship.
Time to make more glassine envelopes and custom stickers in anticipation of November #bullishmarket sales. ☺️

@nprofile…8mhq has brought ATCs (artist trading cards) to #nostr !!!
The format is 2.5” x 3.5” on whatever you want.
I made these back in 2011; more of a collage style than what I would do now.
Last photo is a plastic template for the size of an ATC. It’s really handy if you create a masterboard, then use the template as a window to find which areas you want to cut down to be your ATC.

I’ve had more of an awareness Memento Mori since crossing the half-century birthday mark.
The wildfire evacuation brought it closer to home in a different way in that everything my mom owned, other than her Go bag and the car, could have been destroyed overnight.
A lifetime of physical memories gone.
A kind of death in that I’d never again see the tapestries my grandparents stitched. The photos of that family vacation. My largest watercolor painting.

Slowly getting back to normal… while still going to the next town for groceries and anything else because the local businesses need a few weeks to clean up, restock, and re-open.

So late yesterday afternoon, huge amount of smoke was billowing over the mountain ridge seen from Mom’s backyard.
By late evening, the whole mountain was on fire.
By 2 am, we evacuated to the nearest, bigger town, and about an hour later, the entire district of 12,000 people got an evacuation order and the town lost power.
Mom and I are safe in a hotel room. Very grateful to get their last one so Mom has a bed and accessible bathroom, compared to being at one of evac centers on a plastic chair or cot.
No idea when we can return home, or how much home there will be to return to.
Still feels surreal. Even the smoke and ash in the air this morning is like something from a movie.

I usually don’t draw people, but he was right there at the next table on his own reading, so he didn’t move a lot which was really helpful. 😅

GM!!! Saw a lenticular cloud on the walk to town. So exciting as I’ve only seen photos of these. 😍

Sketching the accessible bathroom of our hotel room.
5⭐️ for the shower bench, wall bar, and ability to use a hand-held shower head.
3.5⭐️ for the law-defined 17” toilet (regular is 15”) because it’s not high enough for my mom at 84 years old and definitely not high enough-post hip replacement surgery.
5⭐️ for Amazon Canada for delivering a toilet cushion* riser seat the day Mom was discharged from the surgical center.
* use the search term “cushion” if you need a toilet rise that uses straps/suction cups/etc to attach to the toilet seat vs. something that replaces the toilet seat and has to bolt onto the toilet with hardware.

Mom’s back at the hotel after her hip replacement surgery. Doing very well, and up to a bit of jigsaw puzzling. 🧩

GM - taking my mom in for hip replacement surgery this morning. Should go fine: she’s healthy, only has one half-pill medication, and wants to get this done so she can hike the mountain and tend to her garden again. ⛰️👩🏼‍🌾

Finished the 3 art cards for the 3 ladies I know having hip replacement surgery this Summer. Each word was chosen for a specific person.
I included some progress photos, so you can see how I started with a single sheet of watercolor paper, drew the design, couple layers of watercolor, then used an ATC (artist trading card) template to decide where to cut the art cards. Used a metallic gold paint pen and fine liner pens (Micron 08, 02, 005) for details.
I meant to spray the cards with a fixative, but had a huge headache at the time and grabbed the spray varnish can by mistake. Turned out fine. Added the punched letter words last.
