I find myself struggling once more with another James Luceno book. It’s the third one I’ve read, and it’s pretty exhausting how he keeps connecting all the dots from the Expanded Universe while forgetting to tell the main story.

I like your review a lot. Succinct, straight to the point and which managed to synthesize the main points of the book in a clear and engaging way. I was considering reading Chasm City before Redemption Ark, but after this review it is impossible not to want to follow this plot of the Inhibitors.

Yep, Dan Sylveste is a total asshole, to say the least. Part of his personality trait is explained towards the end of the book though (but yeah, he’s an asshole).

StoryGraph is really quite robust, even the free version. I was a premium subscriber in the past and it’s one of a few services the subscription really adds features and doesn’t “unlock” important things. Thank you very much for sharing!

That’s quite interesting. I remember how big it was (at least for me) Tor Books announcement on DRM-free policy in 2018. I think I started buying more Tor Books’ titles since then and I really hoped (maybe I was being naive) it could spread like fire in the woods back then.

I started keeping track (the book I’m currently reading and the page I’m on) because I was reading Murakami’s 1Q84 in an Kindle in 2012 and, I don’t know why, it restarted to page 1. Since it’s a huge book and all the chapters have the same names, I completely lost my reading progress and never came back. I was so upset that someone introduced Goodreads to me then. Everything else I don’t care that much (sorting in shelves, reading challenges, etc).

FIASCO also uses Narrator instead of GM, if I’m not wrong. Call of Cthulhu uses Keeper. Cyberpunk 2020 uses Referee.

Ah, that’s interesting, because some rulebooks uses different words for the same thing. The World of Darkness series focuses on “storyteller” instead of GM. My 1st language is Portuguese.

I’ve just narrated Vampire – The Dark Ages for the first time. In the 1990s I narrated Vampire – The Masquerade a lot, but the VDA was only now that I had the opportunity. I really liked the game and the experience and I hope to repeat it very soon.

I'm using MinUI since the beginning. I tried GarlicOS, but at that time I thought I was going minimalistic and that was enough. I do love the simplicity of MinUI, but I miss some Favorites section. Perhaps I need to learn more about its Collections feature.

I finished reading Shadow of the Torturer, by Gene Wolfe yesterday. It was a book that took me months to begin reading. At first it was a struggle, but I was largely rewarded. Definitely it’s one of the best books I read. I left Ada Palmer’s preface to read after finishing the book and it’s such a great analysis (without conveying any spoilers). Now I understand the importance of Gene Wolfe.
