Fun fact, maybe: German criminal law has higher penalties for theft or fraud etc, than for bodily harm (in general).

Don't bother yourself. He might sometimes have a good moment, but usually he is an a***hole. Once he has a position, he will not do what he should be doing (I remember him as minister for agriculture - so many things he could have done, for the environment, for ex., but that might have made him unpopular with certain ppl). And much more.

in Lebanon you cannot even count any more how many times they have broken the ceasefire since last year. Ok, 60 days in order to get the maximum of water, food, medicine etc. in as possible sounds tempting ... but then? As someone for Gaza put it: let aid in so we can die with a full belly?
#Gaza #Palestine

2025-07-03 03:50:23 UTC

Trump's noise on a new "ceasefire" that Israel allegedly agreed to - can anyone tell me why Hamas should agree? Yes, people in Gaza want the attacks to stop, they want aid, peace ... but would this "ceasefire" give it to them? One thing is clear: if Israel agrees than only in order to try and get some of their "hostages" back. Releasing some Palestinian hostages would be no problem, they anyway imprison them anytime later at will. So, what is in for Gaza? Israel is not known to keep promises -

Next question: I read that #friendica would be a good alternative to FB. I never used FB, but most of the family have accounts there. For a big extended family spread out over five continents this was a real big thing when it came up and I can understand their reluctance to leave it. So I would love to check friendica in order to be able to talk about it. Do you know a nice server where I could just try out how it works?

Got into a rant yesterday with family bc I cannot understand everyone is still using Meta services, MS, Google etc. Now I am trying to collect alternatives. I saw a good page with EU alternatives, although considering the stand of many EU countries to Palestine I am a bit wary.
Still, first question: if someone wants to set up an instance for the #fediverse - in which languages is that possible? I see English and German - would there be French or best, Arabic available?
