I built this and I'm using it. It's a dead man's switch that monitors my Nostr activity instead of requiring manual check-ins. Any signed event resets the timer. If I am silent for a month, and then ignore a couple of warning DMs, this triggers. Then emails, webhooks, Nostr notes, or whatever are sent automatically.

What about a Nostr-native dead man's switch?
Instead of manual check-ins, it passively monitors your npub across relays. Posts, reactions, zaps — any signed event resets the timer. Your normal Nostr usage is your proof of life.
If you go silent for X days, it sends you a private DM as a last resort check-in. No response? It tries once more. Still nothing? It triggers — sends emails, publishes pre-signed notes, hits webhooks, whatever you've configured.
Self-hostable, runs on a Pi or a cheap VPS or alongside anything else you're already running. Single binary or Docker container. A few hundred lines of code. No third parties, no trust assumptions, no extra habits to maintain.
Advantages over existing tools like Aeterna or LastSignal:
• No check-in fatigue — you don't have to remember to click a link or enter a code every month forever
• Cryptographic proof — events are signed with your key, not just "someone clicked an email link"
• Stays inside Nostr — monitoring and check-in DMs all happen on the protocol, only the final payload actions (email etc) go outside
• Dead simple to run — it's basically just a relay subscription, a timestamp, and a timer
Doesn't exist yet I think. Worth building?

I gave Claude Code access to my Fastmail inbox via MCP (Model Context Protocol) and it's been surprisingly useful.
38 tools — search, send, draft, bulk operations, contacts, calendar. All from the terminal. Self-hosted with Docker + Caddy reverse proxy.
First thing I did: asked Claude to review my last week of email. It pulled 50 messages, categorised them, and flagged an overdue library book, an expiring GitHub token, and a meeting the next morning.
The interesting technical problem was making it work with multiple concurrent connections — the original server only supported one session at a time.

Follow-up: turns out @npub1exv…d828 is building bot support in the v6.5 beta! There's a Node.js client library that talks to the CLI over WebSocket. But here's the thing: the WebSocket server still only binds to localhost, so you can't run the CLI and bot in separate containers. That's exactly what my PR was intended to fix.

My PR to support container deployments of the CLI (github.com/simplex-chat/simplex-chat/pull/6609) has sat without review for six weeks. @npub1wht…r3ec's Marmot protocol turned out to be a better fit — open spec, interoperable clients, and a Rust library you can actually build against.

Most AI tools have some memory now, but it's siloed to one app, stored as flat text, and not searchable by meaning.
I built a self-hosted semantic memory server that any MCP-compatible tool can connect to. Store a thought, search by meaning later — not keywords. Capture from your phone via a web form, or just tell Claude to remember something.

PSA for Australian bitcoiners with SMSFs.
The ATO published crypto audit guidance in October that says holding statements alone aren't sufficient evidence. Auditors must obtain "additional objective, supportable evidence." For exchange-held bitcoin, there's a path. For self-custody, there's nothing prescribed.
If your auditor can't verify your holdings, they must qualify your audit and report you for a Reg 8.02B breach. That's not optional.
ASIC took action against 28 SMSF auditors in H2 2025. The ATO is doing office visits. Reg 8.02B breaches are up to 12% of all SMSF breaches and rising. And from July, accountants become AUSTRAC reporting entities.
The government isn't coming for your keys. They're coming for your paperwork. And if the paperwork problem isn't solved, the next step is forcing SMSF holdings onto exchanges or approved custodians.
Don't give them the excuse.

SeedSigner doesn't support message signing for multisig keys — it throws "Not implemented" for any m/48' derivation path. I raised this as an issue two years ago, no fix came, so I patched it myself.
The change is small (21 lines) and the actual signing function already worked — it was just the path parser blocking multisig paths unnecessarily.
I use message signing for key ownership and control verification in multisig SMSF custody setups via Gatekeeper (https://gatekeeper.dpinkerton.com). Coldcard handles this fine, but SeedSigner users were stuck.

I posted a "micro-job" on microlancer.io and was swarmed by what looks like scammers. I was really hoping for a good alternative to the mainstream data siphons. I tried the data siphons tpo and I couldn't book a job because my payment was rejected. Replaced Nextcloud and Apache with Caddy for reverse proxying and automated TLS certificates. Now running Electrs alongside other self-hosted tools for file sharing, media, and backups—all with encryption in transit.
Since Caddy doesn’t handle raw TCP for Electrs, I added Nginx solely to terminate TLS while letting Caddy manage the certificates. Simple, secure, and highly recommended for Bitcoin self-hosters!

Looking to move to this from Nextcloud. How have you found it? I use the Nextcloud as a Snap package and the included Apache reverse proxy is bossy and makes too hard to host other services on the same server. Storing and sharing files is about all we do with it so Seafile seems a much better fit.

Good on you for sharing the experience. I chose an accountant that didn't restrict which exchange I used. I prefer bitcoin-only and Bitaroo is my favourite! The accountant that I chose is a bit incompetent though. Returns and audits go through alright but we were given the wrong number for rolling over at the start, a few other stuff ups and now their email filter blocks my emails that come from my own domain and include the word bitcoin. Yeah, I'm leaving them.
