Seen quite a few people saying John Swinney was daft to state that an SNP majority would constitute a mandate for a referendum. I suspect he knew exactly what he was doing, as it allowed him to campaign on indy issues but, having "failed" to meet the requirement, can now kick the can down the road for another five years.

Try setting yourself up as the "Conservation Union Party" or the "Labouring Red Rose Party" and see how far you get.
It's not even "just" hypothetical confusion either.
"'Independent Green Voice', a fake party [...] with a logo that has the word “Green” prominent, and stands exclusively to confuse voters and rob the real Greens of votes. They definitely cost the Greens one seat in 2021, and quite likely two."

Honestly I shit on Corbyn a bit too, because he was dreadful opposing Brexit and I didn't think he was a great party leader. And I still don't, although needless to say as a human being he's parsecs ahead of the others. Plus at the time I was fully behind Nicola Sturgeon. And possibly the London lib types' absolute rejection of Scottish independence is why I went off them too, especially once Brexit became irreversible.

I'm an ex-Remainiacs listener too. There's a whole bunch of clouty people who ceased to exist the day I left Twitter, and I genuinely can't tell whether my near 100% disdain for them is due to the move itself, or me shifting ever-leftwards. But it's a struggle to keep informed when so many of the media folk are firmly ensconced in that middle-class London-centric metro-liberal establishment bubble.

This is an interesting, if uncritical, interview with Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy. He mentions that if regional pricing was in operation in the UK energy market, #Scotland would have the cheapest electricity in Europe (see from 10m 43s).
I'll let you decide what mix of political issues has prevented Westminster from implementing regional pricing, but we in Scotland are paying through the nose for their intransigence.

Remember 20-ish years ago, when the UK narrative was of concern that politics was becoming irrelevant, and people were disengaging because Tory/Lib/Lab were all milquetoast centrists? Hard not to see social media manipulation as a significant factor in the radicalism that's happened since.

Excuse my repetition; I've asked this before but nobody has ever come up with anything.
So... in Scotland we get various benefits that aren't offered in England. Free elderly care and no uni tuition fees are the big ones, but also free prescriptions, free hospital parking, baby box etc.
The funding ScotGov receives for these devolved areas is calculated to be exactly equivalent to UKGov's spending. So my question is this: what does England get instead of these things that Scotland doesn't?
