Yes, I noticed the track-ordering-fix and that's why it felt like the perfect time to put a spotlight on your cool creation. However, I just noticed that it no longer skips to the next track on an album (which it did earlier). Maybe just a temporary hiccup. Also, for some strange reason, it has pulled in all my releases, except "The Embrace". But then again, how boring would life be without its small mysteries :)

I can't really comment on the community at large. I've been around long enough to know a fair number of people here, but not enough to speak for everyone.
But the ROI argument makes a lot of sense to me. It's hard to onboard artists with decent followings if the economics don't make sense for them.
I'm still here despite that because I believe in what we're building. But the reality is that I make more from Spotify in a single day than I make from a month in the Valueverse.
Spotify deserves much of the criticism it gets, and I'd love to see the Valueverse become the go-to place for independent artists. Right now, though, at least from where I stand, the gap isn't closing. It's moving in the other direction.
If we want more artists to show up, we probably need to spend less time explaining why they should be here and more time making it financially obvious 🎸🎸🎸

It was pretty cool to see the comment cross-posted on the same track in Fountain, including the StableKraft link as well. This only happened with tracks that had a Fountain wallet in the album feed, so I'm guessing that had something to do with it, but I'm not sure. Maybe some other sorcery was at play 🧙‍♂️🪄🌟
That said, it could be a really interesting feature to see across all major apps. Comments are great promotion for artists, and having them follow album feeds in some way could increase creators' willingness to promote smaller apps as well.
I suspect many artists and podcasters are more likely to promote the app where comments, reactions, and zaps are visible if they're choosing between two apps of similar quality. If those interactions are visible everywhere, though, they might be more willing to direct people to the app with the better features, even if it's less well known. I could be wrong.
Great idea to have a toggle that lets people choose whether a comment is reposted to their profile.

A bonus feature I noticed with this particular track, since Matt used Fountain's wallet in the feed for this one, they also published the comment, which included a StableKraft link. Nice.
I had no idea that the comments in the zaps were automatically published to my Nostr page. Maybe an idea to mention it on the zap popup. I'm fine with it and happy to promote, but others might see it differently. However, it would be pretty cool if the comments were published to StableKraft (I have additional inputs about that in the upcoming PM).

Cool. 🎸 I'm not completely sure, the gapless might work now. But since everything loads extremely slow I can't tell for sure. It took me a couple of minutes to navigate to my artist page from the front page (tried on both laptop and studio PC). I will do a more thorough test when it's up and running as intended. Great that you're having a look at the search function too. It doesn't work at all for me.
Another question, do you apply any kind of processing to the audio before it reaches me, or is it my original file with zero additional changes to it? Maybe it's just my imagination, but it feels like the same release on Fountain sounds a little bit more "open". I'm not sure. Need to have a closer listen.
I'm just asking because I realized that the StableKraft app seems to do some severe (sound) compression of the sound, so apparently this is something to be aware of.
Sunami is nothing like that, and maybe just my imagination 🙂

Yes, subscription software deals suck. They'd already been doing that for a while, and I wasn't pleased about it. But the final dealbreaker for me was when they revealed what they were really about and didn't allow graphic artists to use their products if they happened to live in the "wrong" country, because their government didn't agree with some other government.
That's when the "own nothing and be happy" agenda pulls off its mask and shows its ugly face.
I ended my subscription and never looked back. I miss nothing from Adobe.

The graphics for this post is pretty old-school: camera work and photo (actually video) editing. These days, I do most of the text editing and logo stuff in Affinity Photo & Designer.
I abandoned all Adobe products when shit hit the fan in 2020/21.

So I've now realized that I always need to keep a backup.
Which leads me to the question: what's the best way to do that?
Is there a smooth way to back up my follow list and easily restore it when this happens again?
I'm choosing to see the whole thing as an involuntary housecleaning. 🙂 I've manually re-added several of you from the top of my head, but not nearly everyone. The rest will sort itself out over time.

I’m curious what people here think about uploading other people’s music to Nostr, and even accepting zaps for it.
I just stumbled across a huge catalog that includes not only albums from artists I personally know, but also Metallica, Lady Gaga, Muse, Iron Maiden, and plenty more. According to @nprofile…va2w and @nprofile…m0xe, all of it was uploaded by @nprofile…xp2j (I don't know if that is true, or if your account has been compromised).
Is this something people actually support or appreciate?

Top-of-the-list improvements for most apps right now are simply getting already existing features to work as frictionlessly and lightweight as possible.
For Sunami, that would be page load, search, and music playback.
Another huge improvement would be establishing a tight relationship with Nostria (the only other app I know of offering similar functionality) and agreeing on which standards need to be fulfilled for publishing tracks and albums. At the moment, there’s still some inconsistency.
I don’t know which app is most accurate, but it’s my impression that uploads from Nostria don’t function equally well in Sunami, and vice versa. For example, my first Sunami uploads didn’t show which album they belonged to on Nostria (in track view). Another example is that albums uploaded through Nostria show no artist name in Sunami. Also, tracks uploaded in Nostria don't show in the Tracks tab in Sunami (only in the Releases tab).
I’m sure there are other small details that could use some consistency as well, but I can’t remember them off the top of my head.
Since you and @nprofile…0ds9 of @nprofile…r4un are the pioneers in this area, whatever standards you agree on will more or less become the foundation future apps follow.
One really cool feature I’d love to see across all music apps is gapless playback, like Spotify has. When I make an album or EP, the pauses between songs aren’t intended to be random. Some tracks are designed to transition seamlessly into the next without the listener noticing. The same applies to live albums.
Neither native Nostr music apps nor RSS-based music apps (such as Fountain) handle this particularly well right now.
I can definitely see the challenge, since the files are scattered across different servers and relays. It would require preloading the upcoming track in the background while the current one is still playing.
The app that figures out how to solve this properly will probably become my go-to app 🙂 🎸
PS. I would suggest not making a one-click download feature. Some artists sell their audio files and it would probably not feel great for them.

Totally agree that it would be great to see more artists here. I think the most convincing argument we have right now is success stories. I still hope the v4v model proves itself to be more beneficial than the paywalled legacy solutions. The closer we get to that reality, the easier it will become to onboard outsiders.
I have a hunch that long-term artistic integrity is not as convincing to most people as immediate personal gain (except for a few weirdos such as myself). And realistically, we probably won't reach many established acts anytime soon, since most of them don't even control their own material due to contractual obligations that prevent them from testing the waters in the valueverse.
Maybe it would make sense to start collecting and sharing success stories? Those could also point us toward which artists would be most interested in joining this space 🎸

This is what I see as well.
It’s fair enough if people don’t find value in the music, but it’s definitely a discussion that deserves some attention.
I’m pretty sure most of us would like to see a more decentralized version of the world, but right now, I have to say that Spotify is unfortunately my most reliable source of income tied directly to music streaming. Yes, there are other ways to earn a living, like live shows, merchandise, or even selling hotdogs, but I’m old school and still believe that recorded music has its own value.
We have great potential here to make this space the independent and edgy alternative to Spotify, and a more successful version of Bandcamp. Without a better plan to make it happen, it will be difficult to convince newly onboarded artists not to lose interest after just a few months.

Wonderful. Looking great. 🙏 Just one little detail... it looks like the stablekraft.app pulls the track order (from the releases) a bit randomly for some reason. Both "A Grand Illusion" and "They Tried To Destroy Beauty" have their tracks in reverse order, while "Rise Again" is correct.

The piece I miss the most is to be able to share Nostr music links and expect a player showing up directly in the comment (just like in @nprofile…m0xe ) in all the most popular apps. Right now, it doesn't seem possible (or I don't know how to do it). I believe Nostr would benefit a lot from a standardized, smooth integration of native Nostr music, directly in posts and comments. As it is now, they look broken, or like spam.

Finding Home Episode 4 - "The Bittersweet Alchemist" was published today. The trip goes to London/Manchester and we get to meet @nprofile…acdf and hear his interesting story (and pretty bizarre US experience).
Nice work @nprofile…quch. And thanks for introducing me to @nprofile…mlnu. Definitely an interesting concept. With my new subscription, I also saw the pilot of "Finding Home" and got to meet Shakib in Harlem, New York. Great food in both episodes 🙂 Looking forward to check out the remaining parts 2 & 3.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I have tried countless times to delete all those tracks, and that one album, without success in @nprofile…m0xe. They just reappeared shortly after deleting them. In @Sunami it worked right away, and they remain deleted. Wonderful. However, in Nostria they are still there. Maybe @nprofile…0ds9 could get some inspiration from your way of doing it. I love the idea of native Nostr music, but stopped uploading when I couldn't delete tracks and releases (if necessary). Once again, thanks for the comment and for showing that it's possible to also delete music.

Thanks! 🙂 I actually considered that approach at first, but decided to do it the “hard way” and learn everything from scratch 🎸
Once I realized how many small pieces of the album feed need updating for every release, I took it a step further and built my own offline album feed generator. It auto-fills the parts that never change (in the backend), pre-populates form fields for track durations and defaults for things that rarely change, and leaves clean fields for what needs updating each time. When everything’s filled out, it displays the full code and generates a correctly named XML file for download.
I also wanted the XML to be as clean and human-readable as possible (and sneak in a bit of personal branding), which added some extra complexity. But now it’s (hopefully) working exactly how I envisioned.

Where do you think Nostr Music is heading?
Will it become the preferred way to listen on Nostr, or will RSS (Podcasting 2.0) continue to lead?
I’ve noticed that many apps still don’t render a player in posts. Maybe I’m biased after a lifetime in music, but wouldn’t Nostr feel even more compelling to outsiders if music is tightly integrated across apps?
