Richard Metzger: 'From early 1997 to sometime mid-1999 I had a talkshow called The Infinity Factory that was produced at Pseudo.com (founded by Josh Harris of 'We Live in Public' fame), the increasingly legendary “Internet TV Network,” creative madhouse and party central of downtown New York during the high-flying Silicon Alley dotcom years.
The Infinity Factory was taped every Sunday evening at 8pm with a few exceptions. It was produced by Vanessa Weinberg who also DJ’d and mixed the show live. Vanessa was extraordinarily in tune with how the conversations were flowing and added an intricate bed of trippy music, samples and sound loops under what were often extremely psychedelic conversations to begin with—like this episode, with Robert Anton Wilson and Genesis P-Orridge. This show dates, I think, from Fall of 1997. When it was originally netcast it was when most people still had 56k modems and the video quality was fairly awful. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty cool to be able to do something like this back then and there was a real “pirate radio” aspect to it as well that greatly appealed to me, but in truth it looked more like flickery animation than it did actual video. And it was the size of a postage stamp. There were probably well over 100 shows, each of them around 50 minutes, but I really can’t say for sure how many there were. Most of them are probably lost.'

The title refers to a 1974 report that Paik prepared for the Rockefeller Foundation, entitled "Media Planning for the Post Industrial Society." In it he predicted much of the technological transformation we have experienced in the past twenty years, and urged the creation of what he termed the Electronic Super Highway. For this exhibition, Paik has created his own version of the "Cybertown," or smalltown America in the electronic age, a new community founded on moving images.'

'...Hi, I'm one of the writers of this film and I appreciate your posting it, since there is no other way for people to see it. I enjoyed reading the comments here.
...There was immediately a lot of interest, but also a lot of concern that it bore similarities to a film in pre-production called The Truman Show. At the time, only one executive mentioned The Matrix although I believe that was already in production. We were unaware of these projects at the time.
Fox ...refused to buy it. I heard a rumor that the president of Fox called it "anti-consumerist propaganda," but that's just a rumor.
The film's proper title is "The Product." In the US it was only shown once or twice. Ironically, on Fox Television, where they renamed it "Virtual Nightmare."
I have since been sent books by Pohl and Lem that bear some resemblance. In actuality, my inspiration for the idea came from Time Out of Joint by Philip Dick. Thanks to all of you who have commented on the film, it still means a lot to me.'

'Because of a huge misunderstanding between team members, our previous version of "The Matrix" (v1.0) has the wrong color grading. The main problem is a yellow tint in many scenes, which has varying degrees of intensity. Some of the scenes were indeed supposed to be yellow, but others were not, e.g. Neo's interrogation scene. We went back to the print and color corrected the scan, basically from scratch. All color errors should be fixed now, and this release is (finally) accurate to the theatrical print. All scratches, dirt, and other damage have been left in, and the format of the presentation is, once again, a 1080p BD compliant encode.
Attached to this post are comparisons of the 35mm scan (top) and recent 4k Remaster (bottom).....'
