They definitely are, but these names stay consistent and nostr is a recent thing while most of us are alive for a few decades now.
So it makes it harder for people to find peers they know on nostr compared to facebook etc.
This network effect may be slowing nostr down significantly and may be a blocker to adoption, unless we don't want more adoption

Ethereum has more visibility because it has more utility.
Yes bitcoin is far superior when we look at our lifetime timeframe, but if you look for utility and solution for problems people have with money today - bitcoin is not the solution people have in mind and able to go with due to high costs, learning gap and bad UX

Bitcoin Atlantis coming to an end and I’m glad to make it here instead of a ETH Denver.
Bitcoin is the best product out there to solve fiat money issues we’re having.
But its lacking behind badly on accessibility, user experience, utility and adoption.
I’ve heard and believe it as well that great products that are better than web2 and crypto alternatives should get people in for utility, it’s in everyone’s interests.
There are some really great products coming out on nostr that I found out from the conference and already started looking deeper into.
Next year for a Bitcoin Atlantis I can imagine a far bigger conference and with a lot more designers and products being showcased.
Thanks everyone who made it possible and got me to be thinking about ways to push bitcoin utility as a cash system truly to the masses, globally and accessible
Right now we don’t have anything close to that, Primal is the best app I’ve used so far on nostr

Didn’t know about the hack sorry. Your email could’ve been scrapped from anywhere on web2 as well no?
There’s a risk with every piece of personal information put online.
But still there is a place for a client that asks for an email to increase adoption.
No one outside nostr has any clue what npub means and I don’t think that’s an advantage.
Private keys also being shared between any clients makes it a lot more riskier than having one place like a vault like wallet to sign you in for every nostr app using it or some form of abstraction to not be giving out full access to your profile for every client etc.

Well that’s one approach to build it, if he fails it’ll strengthen nostr right, if he succeeds - we’ll have to learn and adapt it to nostr,
we win in all cases, why be negative with people and other founders especially over fucking email registration?
look at how many users he’s got in the past month and how many nostr got
look at how many bots are on nostr vs farcaster
look at how many projects launched in a month on farcaster vs nostr
people aren’t ready to go fully decentralized yet and they aren’t ready to switch to something that isn’t at least matching the UX of current mass market platforms
being a designer myself, it’s very easy to beat UX of facebook or instagram, if we just copy it and remove ads - it’ll get people to switch already, we can already zap people too - that’d be a game changer
farcaster gives you an option to buy its token with credit card, now imagine if you want to top up sats - what’s that process gonna look like if you don’t own any bitcoin which most people don’t?

One example is if we’ve done an alternative search engine powered by nostr or some other protocol built specifically for search where user experience would be key and then using bitcoin there in a similar way nostr is using it.
Now if we build a great brand for a search app, build it like a real product only without bureaucracy and having a centralized entity, program stakes and voting power?
Can be anything but what’s new here and needs figuring out is a setup for a “company” of the future that belongs to the whole world so that we don’t have to worry about jurisdictions because we don’t have any on nostr or the internet right.

Touching multiple points here:
1. DAO communities to vote on, invest into projects that are valuable and boost bitcoin visibility and adoption
- don’t even need funding for that, just need to figure a way/solution to tie this up on the blockchain and it may not work on L1 or our existing alternatives
- this has been proven with nouns DAO that you can get lots of funds and as a result the project is pushing the whole Ethereum ecosystem forward
- They have almost $20M now and adding up about 20k daily - it can be a lot bigger on Bitcoin
Ultimately people get curious when they see a cool app in practice when something is fucking cool and actually does the thing no other app can, they will go try it too and when it clicks (aha moment) - will go shout about it everywhere to everyone and never forget about it

Like for a lightning wallet, all that a normal person needs to know is basically:
- how to get lightning
- how to receive
- how to send/pay
- maybe how to sell for fiat / how to buy for fiat
- everything else is extra right, either for devs, node runners etc.
merchants can have a separate use case, would’ve been dope to setup a marketing page targeting these 2 personas directly like uber has pages for drivers and passengers right

Better resources/courses/education on nostr can be essential need here, what’s the best way to look into protocol etc, for a non developer?

I’m going to look closer into designing something for nostr with founders on here eventually.
There can be a centralized optional layer on top of decentralized rails too.
Key thing here is that as web2 progresses further into UX which is already almost as far as it can be - nostr doesn’t stand a chance unless you’re a degen like me lol who’s going to get through all bugs and learn all the new things that are essential here right.
While I haven’t been working on an app on nostr I can’t even get the whole context on the limitations etc, what do you think users will think?
That’s a long discussion but it seems realistic for where we are, correct me if I’m wrong.

Makes sense, not undermining the incredible work done here, I get that it’s a lot harder than pushing a centralized thing and worth the effort.
But as long as these limitations are here, there’s little designers can do and therefore there’s little reach of that technology leaps.
I remember hearing something about Primal using caching service which is basically a centralized server no? To keep it running smoothly for UX, kind of a compromise?

I’m advocating for a better humane design on all of bitcoin and nostr, bitcoin should be accessible to everyone and kinda cooler than ethereum stuff no? Why are we building it like houses in a cave instead of super modern glass on a shore that’s easy to access and get into (and definitely not scary to)
Why aren’t we attracting best creative talent in and incentivizing to make bitcoin and nostr visually and from UX side spotless?
Shitcoins can pay for it while the biggest cryptocurrency can’t? I know we’re doing it like people should come on their own, figure out what bitcoin is and eventually become maxi and push it further, maybe that’s a better way.
I’m bullish though, Primal is great now and more coming, we’ll see if multiple clients concept will work, right now it seems like people are using whatever they find or is available on their platform, nothing works on all platforms equally well but we’ll get there.
At least one example, for newcomers it can be a single go to app with rewards for completing learning bites etc.

I think there’s a lot we can learn from web3 (I know) projects.
I love how they’re trying to escape the boring look of typical corporate giants, bootstrapping nature
and there are some good ideas hiding behind all these airdrops and nfts - and it aligns in many ways with what we’re here for with bitcoin
over time as bitcoin growths in terms of user adoption, ease of use and being an obvious go to solution for things other than money transfer, which is now getting far already with nostr - that’s where real growth and adoption happens.
Check out this product built for ETH L2 for example hypersub.withfabric.xyz - it’s better than L2 alternatives in every way.
This is how we should win people over, instead of telling them here is a link to 50 lightning wallets, some of them work on android only etc and then pick the one that works for you - but people need the basics - send and receive bitcoin, it’s that simple.
I haven’t seen a wallet yet that’s intuitive, that’s probably the reason Primal built another one into the app.
Now as I’m not a very active nostr user recently I still got like 3 places where I can have sats + a cashu thing
We’d benefit from just collaborating on an open source single wallet we can point people to with intent to make it the simplest + can offer small incentives with a few sats at least to learn more about the underlying technology, on off ramps etc.
Right now people install wallet of satoshi, primal or whatever but how to send actual sats to it? Big big question for people unfamiliar, unless someone else who already have it sends it.
But since bitcoin is limited in supply and be more mainstream I’d expect on off ramps to be a bit less relevant over time.

solid on my opinion, encountered maybe one bug over months
dev community there seems to be super active, last Friday they released frames and today we already have a frame token, games playable in these frames and much more - such a simple feature pushed engagement to ATH
I think it’s also because most people use warpcast from Dan, which makes him a great leader vs on nostr every client competes with each other on amount of bugs it has - on warpcast you just come in and engage with people

where’s message on the second one? I like highlighted zap. If there are data points to tell which actions are more often used than others - can make it visually so.

I’d need help for sure from someone understanding nostr better.
But overall that may be the radical choice needed to push things further, one possible solution I could think of.
When there is no marketing people need to make a lot more effort to learn how it works and get in.
The way world currently is, that’s already pushing few people to learn about nostr, unless something really bad happens, we could try a somewhat centralized approach for marketing/onboarding.

What if we redesigned nostr.com primarily for non devs?
People would arrive on that page to understand in the simplest terms what nostr is and get to the CTA which will be Get started or something like that
Then we can guide them through the account creation (keys), basically do the onboarding once and on nostr - don’t delegate that to all the clients to figure themselves
The next question will be about lightning wallet and how it works which is a different issue in terms of understanding, but it’s not required to get into nostr and can be done later also
Then we can share a list of clients that work with the platforms the person is using and tell them how to sign up there, maybe a few tips or notes
So in summary that experience can save a lot of dev time, be the single source of truth and a place to get started with nostr and then get directed somewhere with lots of clients and apps built with nostr, in a visual way, almost like an app store with similar screenshot images for people to get how it looks etc before they try it
This is something a solo designer can conceptualize even, myself included.

Fan DAOs, do they already exist?
Let’s take a football club - Barcelona. Imagine they’re releasing an official platform and auctioning NFTs in a way that there is a new NFT to come every X amount of time.
Money goes to a treasury and owners can have a vote now on which proposal to spend the money on.
Let’s say 10k fans purchase an NFT from an auction like that. If each can go for $1k on average, it’s $10M already.
With this amount you could do a lot of things already. The club should exist for the fans, not be a machine for the corporations to push their marketing to people.
People could vote to remove a sponsor and replace one, imagine instead of a sponsor logo there can be 11 random holders picked to have their NFT printed on the shirts of the players?
Imagine how many fun and unique things fans can come up with, with such a budget.
Maybe clubs of the future will be fully funded by the team and fans.
