This would have the unfortunate effect of turning much of the muslim world against Bitcoin and against Bitcoiner full node runners.

I used to spend three hours a day on Twitter.

Digital ids being rolled out simultaneously across multiple counties.
It is not about controlling immigration, it is about controlling population.

It is interesting that when you got started, Bitcoin was currency that could be used to enable criminal activity.
Since then it has become increasing clear that fiat is a currency that is used to enable the criminal activity of governments stealing the fruits of our labour.
Bitcoin is the escape hatch from the hostage situation.

This is just one of many bits of news that would have sent the price soaring in 2021.

In medieval times, when most people couldn't read or write, they were effectively excluded from property ownership - unable to read contracts or verify their rights. They had to rely on others to interpret and validate their property claims, creating a fundamental power imbalance where literacy itself became a tool of control. The spread of literacy democratized property ownership by enabling people to directly understand and engage with their property rights without intermediaries.
Today, we face a similar junction with digital property. Just as traditional literacy enables understanding of written contracts, cryptographic literacy enables true ownership in digital space. Without this new literacy, people remain dependent on platforms and institutions to mediate their digital rights, just as illiterate people once depended on others to interpret their contracts. The path to true digital property rights requires not just technological tools but widespread understanding of how to use them.

Paper is the only fair and anonymous solution for vote counting.
With the electronic counting machines, you only need to bribe one developer.
When you have a room full of people counting votes, double and counting and representatives from all parties observing, people are going to know if something is going on!

If a government wants to shut down free speech, then the most effective way that they can do so is through the money system.
Many media creators receive sponsorship money from advertisers, which means that they can be de-monetised. Governments can put pressure on advertisers that sponsor content creators that say things they don’t like. The advertising companies are susceptible to government pressure as they have a physical locations and they have revenues in fiat money.
A independent creator might be geographically un-locatable, but their sponsors can be located and threatened with legal action, imprisonment or with the cessation of their card processing facilities. There are not many companies, that currently do not depend on the fiat money system in some way for the continuation of their operations.
Creators that depend upon subscription revenue are even more prone to censorship as they can be directly de-monetised through the banking system by the removal their card processing facilities. The international banking system is controlled by the USA and if they feel that the speech of a specific creator is a threat to them, then they can de-monetise and effectively silence that creator.
The fact that almost all creators are currently publishing their content through centralised platforms makes it even easier for authorities to bring an end to the right to free speech of any creator that they choose. We have seen censorship and demonetisation on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Rumble and Locals are alternative media platforms that are used by a number of creators that have been demonetised by the mainstream platforms, but they still have sponsors and fiat money subscription systems that could be used to shut them down at some point in the future
If a creator is distributing their content through Nostr and are being funded by their listeners using Bitcoin, then they can’t be shut down through government control of the money system. If they are publishing anonymously, then there is no way for the authorities to know who they are or where they are in the world.
FanFares is an open source application and the source code will be stored on decentralised services. If the primary FanFares application is shut down, then anyone can spin up another version of the software and customers can access it from the new ip address. The new ip addresses can be distributed through encrypted messaging services.
An instance of FanFares will take a spit of the payments made to creators from their audience, so anyone that runs a version of fanfares will be able to add their own wallet address to the application and earn a fee split. This is the incentive for multiple instances of FanFares to exist across the world as nodes in a network and therefore the service can never be shut down. Every Nostr relay could run a version of FanFares and this will help them to monetise and cover their storage costs. Any node runner that does not respect the creators of FanFares and tries to cut them out of the fee split, should not have their IP address shared by the community.
If governments want to monitor content published through FanFares, then they will have to pay to do so using Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is money that you can own.
You can hold it on your own person wherever you go and you hold securely in a way that nobody can see that you have it. Robbers or governments can search your house for gold.
If you hold your bitcoin securely, then they can’t take it.
This facility has never existed before in history. There has never been a form of money that you really own for yourself without relying on a bank or a legal system to protect your ownership.
In the past many people have resorted to storing their gold in a bank vault. The problem with that is the fact that the bank can be robbed by people with guns. Bank alarm systems are much more sophisticated than they have been in the past so they now rarely get robbed. Though some would argue that the bank robbers have become more sophisticated. They have in fact taken over the government and they are slowly and quietly robbing us of our savings in way most people cannot see.
Bitcoin doesn't require a third party to store it securely.
Bitcoin doesn't require armed guards to securely transfer it to someone else.

If posted the source code of my web site as a nostr event, then a desktop installed client that recognised that event could show the website when a user types in my npub.
Over time, that desktop client could replace a web browser and we would have an whole new internet that is uncensorable.

The Bitcoin etf gives institutions the ability to short the bitcion price.
Every time a unit of the etf is shorted, a new unit is created that is available for sale.
An etf it's a derivative and institutions can create as many of them as they like, without necessarily increasing the issuance of the etf itself.
This is why net outflows from the etfs have been occurring since March 13th.
Fake supply can be created at the brokerage level. Nobody really owns the shares that they think they have in their brokerage account. The shares are owned by a nominee company. The customers have a derivative contract with the brokerage for the difference in price in Fiat money. The contract itself, f is in fact a debt obligation.
The contract is treated as colateral because the price moves in line with the equity that it pretends to be.
Does anyone remember collateralised debt obligations from 2008? That is what you are getting if you buy the bitcion etf.

Before life on earth there was a lot of carbon in the atmosphere.
As life evolved over many millions of years, some of the carbon was slowly taken out of the atmosphere and put it into the ground.
If this process were allowed to continue without correction, then life would eventually die out because there would not be enough carbon in the atmosphere to sustain life.
It is fortunate that a form of life would eventually evolve, that would dig up some of the carbon from the ground and put it back into the atmosphere.

In the UK election, many people are voting Labour by cause they don't want sunak or the tories. They currently see reform UK as a wasted vote.
Reform are likely to flip the tories in the next month or so. When they do, many ordinary working British people will sit up and take notice. They will see that reform represent their views far more effectively than either of the other two parties. The effect will be a landslide, as a large part of the Labour vote switches to reform. At the same time, many of the tories will switch too out of fear of losing their seats.
Key reform policies:
End gender ideology in schools
Less inward migration
End climate alarmism and investment in wasteful projects that is making energy bills higher.

Bitcoin Merchant Onboarding
Merchants in El Salvador are broadly faced with two options, take payment in cash dollars or in Bitcoin. If they take payment in cash dollars then the customer will often leave them the change. I have been in El Salvador two weeks now and I am finding that the bitcoin payment process is rarely making it easy for me to leave a tip.
In the USA the POS terminals have been very effectively engineered to have the customer pay a tip. They screen is swivelled around to the customer, where they are presented with the 15, 20 and 25% options. There is an option for ‘no tip’, but this is very small and at the bottom of the screen. The system is set up so that the least friction option is to just pay a tip.
We need to have Bitcoin payment experiences where the customer is finding the least friction path is to pay a tip to the merchant. If we can do this then we will find that many more merchants will want to adopt bitcoin.

A credit card has your private key written on the outside of it.
No wonder the card companies have to charge back 2.5% of all transactions as fraud.
Bitcoin enables you to make a payment without exposing your private key.
Payment fees are virtually nothing.

I agree Caitlin, on-chain Bitcoin will at some point go ‘no offer’. At that time, the futures ETF will be bankrupt.
The unlimited short exposure that the ETF issuers have to the BTC price could take out the clearing houses.
This would be a systemic issue. It would be an opportunity for fiat institutions to renege on their promises and blame Bitcoin as the trigger.
They have additional cover from Covid as the reason for enormous public debts that will not be repaid.
The spot Bitcoin etf could be a set up for draining liquidity from exchanges and causing an exponential price move in btc. The crash in every other asset class that results from the failure of institutions that have unlimited short exposure to btc will be horrific.
This could be ‘the great reset’!
Blame Covid and blame Bitcoin, none of it will be blamed on reckless debt accumulation for the last few decades.
