I mostly have them with other berries and yoghurt, honeycomb, bee pollen. They last surprisingly long in the fridge so between that and giving them out to family I get through them no problem.

Yes, I drape them with insect mesh and use pegs to close the gaps. I find that the bushes can handle that. With bird netting the berries get tangled so you'd need a cage around it. I doubt there would be any to harvest if not covered. Blackbirds eat them green. Literally the day after covering them, having not seen a single berry turning prior, there was plenty of purple to be seen.

Here we go, no time like the present! A massive blueberry harvest from just three bushes. This was the second big harvest and there could have been a third smaller one but I decided not to re-cover, so the blackbirds will have the rest. And the biggest watermelon I've ever grown, I hope it ripens!

It's a similar line of thinking when you use SSAS to purchase commercial property that you then lease out to the sponsoring employer. This arrangement is fine so long as the rent paid is at the market rate. If it's below market rates then you would not be acting in the best interests of the pension scheme.

I'm not sure but I suspect if it were possible then the renumeration would have to reflect market rates i.e. HMRC would not look favourably on you paying yourself a large salary that was unjustified. As a trustee you must act in the best interest of the scheme, its assets and members.

Yeah, I often use https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/seek_app for help with identification.
If you're planning on consuming something though, its best to not100% rely on these apps but also foraging books/knowledge covering that particular region. Regional knowledge is important because, for example, I'm pretty good at identifying edible mushrooms in the UK but that knowledge doesn't translate to any other region. This is because some of the rules of thumb I use may no longer apply, such as certain deadly lookalikes not being present in the UK, meaning they are not considered in identification heuristics.

Debarking recently felled larch in the woods with an axe. It's very satisfying to get the bark to peel off in huge pieces. Older/dead wood is not so fun and has to be scraped off in small pieces with a draw knife. Logs to be used for building a rain shelter. The bark is chipped and used on the paths in the garden veg plot.

At this point the secondary burn is in full force. Now the sole fuel source is the flammable wood gases being driven off from the wood inside the inner barrel, which in my kiln design comes out through a pipe as a jet, igniting and whipping round the inside of the barrel. It roars. Actually on this occasion it got so hot as to burn holes in both the inner and outer (steel) barrels. So parts of it got as hot as 900C which is the temperature at which steel begins to oxidise. I've had to make some adjustments to the design since.

I've been enjoying making charcoal in the woods recently, using a retort kiln I designed and built myself. It's like a rocket stove with a smaller barrel inside which is packed with wood and allows the flammable wood gases to escape whilst not letting any air in. Here it is ready to ignite with a water heating system I'm experimenting with using the thermosyphon effect.

Higher income tax of 40% on remaining £0.75: £0.30
Pension pot after income tax: £0.25 + £0.75 - £0.30 = £0.70
Effective tax rate: 30%
This would be reduced a bit if taking into account personal allowance. For example if the pension pot was £100k and the personal allowance £12,500 the effective tax rate would be 25%.

In the UK at least you may get tax reductions for paying in but, as you say, when drawing down your pension it is all subject to income tax (except the 25% tax-free lump sum, up to a limit of £268,275).
Gains in most pensions are free from CGT though:
> The disposal of an investment held for the purposes of a registered pension scheme is not a chargeable gain. It is therefore exempt from capital gains tax.
There are some exemptions for atypical situations, such as overseas pensions schemes, which may explain having to pay CGT.

A major mistake people make is leaving the money they pay into a pension to be managed by someone else. For those Bitcoiners in the UK who already have money in a pension the best option is to use it to buy actual Bitcoin (and self-custody it). At least that way your pension is held in the best-performing asset.
At retirement age, whether to drawdown all in a single lump-sum or over time as an income would depend on personal circumstances and preferences. One major advantage of pensions currently is that gains are free from capital gains tax (at least for now, I would not be surprised if the gov changed that). For this reason I imagine drawing down as needed would be the better option rather than taking it all as a lump sum, incurring income tax, then having capital gains due on any Bitcoin you bought with it. Just let the Bitcoin appreciate without capital gains, then take out whatever each year, maximising your annual personal allowance and possibly avoiding higher income tax brackets.
As far as paying more into a pension post-orange-pilling, as you say, stacking self-sovereign sats seems like a better option. However, this is often complicated slightly by the fact you'd typically lose out on the employer contribution if you don't make contributions of your own.

No complaints against my carbon steel skillet for searing steak but has anyone else tried these "hard nitrided" cast iron pans? They're basically already non-stick before you form the patina. Very cheap too. I've been using a "hard nitrided" cast iron wok recently and its delightful. Gotta be some downsides, surely?
