Just one shot vibe coded an update to my site. Swap the favicon from the green square I've had for years to match my Lego icon, inspired by @npub1nsp…ahke naturally.

I've taken the idea that we need 3rd party home pages to move this forward. All well and good to complain, but until people see a proper design, it's not gonna advance.
To me, this is 2-parter: content/hierarchy and then actual design. But yes, both could be much better.
I do plan to make my own stab at this when schedule allows.

A sneak peek of a demo I will show at @npub1wcx…kjdc next week during my talk on "Django for AI."
This is a local Django website connected to Ollama using async views, server side events, and HTMX to mimic the functionality of a LLM chatbot like ChatGPT or Anthropic.
Did I mention this is all Django? It can do a lot more than people think when it comes to async and cutting-edge web stuff...

DRF is still handling bug reports I believe, albeit not as quickly as, say, Django itself. I think you're referring to the fact that DRF is feature complete, so they are not working on new features.
DRF is still used in A TON of places and works well. For greenfield projects or ones where "speed" really matters, I think it's clear `django-ninja` is the likely replacement, but that will take a while to occur.

totally. And I mean in your case, you have a lot of existing code/features so if it doesn't match Django, then you're fighting Django, which is never a great idea.
Django is TERRIBLE at marketing. No Hello World example. No videos. Etc. Some slow progress is being made here but... yeah. Part of it is Django has a lot of batteries, part of it is Django isn't super focused on newbies, and a lot of it is Django is a lean nonprofit and so not everything gets done.

so simpler for Hello World? Flask gets the nod though Django can come close actually (see article). Basic CRUD + auth + ORM + forms? I think Django wins here with lots of batteries and well known patterns requiring relatively little code. Want NoSQL? Def Flask. I really like this write up! I have to say I take “It seems oddly complicated to get started. I know people say Django is simple. But it’s way less simple than Flask.” As a personal challenge 😃. To me, Flask is barbell shaped in that yes the super basics are easier, but anything in the middle of web stuff requires far more customization and developer work than Django’s batteries, but at the far end of it Flask wins out because you can do whatever you want.
